I'm currently working on an ms access database in vb.net. And I need a code that can determine which data I am updating in the database. Because when I try to update the data, the previous data is being cloned and it will generate two data(the updated and the previous data), and the program will also generate a random id number for the updated data, which is not good.Here is my code for the update button:

To correct this, try the following: 1. Ensure that any custom permissions defining assemblies referenced by your project have been properly installed to the GAC. If any of these assemblies have been rebuilt or have had their version numbers modified, you must install the new assemblies in the GAC. 2. Restart Visual Studio.
I am currently writing a visual basic program that gets data from a serial port. everything is connected up but the data is not received until my device on the other side is turned on on the other side. which condition can i use in my loop to ensure that i only start comparing when i have started to receive so that my loop will not hang as there is no data input?

View 1 RepliesI'm using VB 2010 Express with a local Access DB. I am having trouble determing whether there are changes in a DataGridView to save back to the underlying DB.
The DB has been copied to the project directory and its properties (by selecting it in the Solution Explorer) include Copy to Output Directory: Copy Always, so I know that any changes I make when running a build will disappear on the next build. The problem I'm having is within a run / test session, working with the application.
The Access database has the following connection string, with Application scope:

This box shows one column of a table and allows me to select one item.Next, I have an ordinary text LABEL that I need to put text from another column of the item selected above.I tried to set the data binding field of the label, but this grabs only the first row or data and shows the selected column. My company has a manufacturing machine that stores its files into a Microsoft SQL Databaese. I need a way to access the data in that MDF. From what I have read, the only way to access it is to attach it to an instance of SQL server. The problem is that I can not find any code to do this programatically. Ideally I would like to be able to let them choose which mdf file to open and attach it using VB code. Has anyone ever done this?
