[Code] I cant figure out how to code it so when i click the score button it will put correct in the label in response whether the right answer was put in the textbox. Hangman Game - Generate Random Number When User Press Start Button
Jul 29, 2009i've created a hangman game (Fully working) but since you can only "play" with one phrase (10 letters) it gets boring fast. Basic the current game works by on form load i define the slots (10 string which each hold a letter) and give them there letter. then the user type in a text box and if the textbox = any of the slots then the lbl repasenting that slots changes its text from "_" to the letter.
Anyway what I would like the button to do is when the user presses the start button a random number is generated. The program then looks into a textfile and based on which number is generated it takes a certain line (10 characters per line in a phrase) , moves them into the slots and the game starts. Is that possible to code or it too complicated. The textfile will be in the applications folder (words.txt).
On Button Click Decrease Label Number
Jun 28, 2011I have a button and a text box. The text box should start out with number 41. Each time I click the button the text box number should decrease by 1 until it hits 20 then when the button is clicked nothing happens. I have tried multiple pieces of code from For counter 41 To 20 Step -1 to If counter <> 0 Then textbox -= 1, but it only works for one click. Not sure how to keep it decrease on every button click until i get to 0.

15 Minute Timer Shown On Label And Count Down
Jan 24, 2011I am having a mental block on how to work out a 15 minute timer that is shown on a label and counts down so that the user can watch it. I can do it just fine in seconds but I need to put it into the format of 15:00 and then have it count down the seconds and the the minutes when ever it drops 60 seconds. I found a few articles on using the dateNow syntax but that seems like it would only be good for adding time not subtracting it. Also I know I can set up a button to start and stop the timer but is it possible to use the space bar as the start/stop button?

Sep 17, 2011I have this program generating a firstname and lastname from a file. When I run this program I enter information in three textboxes. The first two are the salary low and high(salary1.text, salary2.text) and the last one is the number of "copies"(copies.text) that I want.. When I put a number such as 10 in the text box it outputs some of the same names. The firstname file has around 100 records and the lastname file has about 1000 records Why is it generating the same name The problem is even worse if I do something like 1000 copies.. it outputs the same thing 8 times and then does something different another 8 times

May 31, 2010I have an SQL database with a single table with several colunmns. I want to count how many times a certain number appears in one of the columns. E.g. I have the following:
A B C
8 4 6
0 9 3
1 4 6
4 7 1
I want to count the number of times 4 is used in column B. I have looked at using the following, but not sure if this is even the right approach:

where num=the number I am counting the instances of (4 in this case).
The hope is that BCount will equal 2, but it returns 0 every time.
