Open The .txt Log File In A RichTextBox?

Im new to the forum so don't blame me if I posted this in wrong catagory :P , this forum helped me out plenty of times so I tought let me ask for help with a big problem. Ok this is the matter:I am working in visual basic 2008 on a program that should search thro a log file (what logs a chat) for specific words , than warn me if some one said that and display his name seperated in a textbox.What have I done is, that I made the code to open the .txt log file in a RichTextBox , I got a timer that checks every few if richtextbox1.text.contains(TextBox1.Text) so if it contains the words what I am searching and if the statement is true than it does beep(). K that is quite simple , for now the problem is to take the poster's name out of that log file! Here is how such a log file looks like:

I am loading a KJV.rtf file at program startup into RichTextBoxDisplay. When I want to select, lets say, Matthew Chapter 1, I want the program to take me to Matthew Chapter 1. I know I could just load a seperate file into the rtbDisplay, but do you know how many chapters and books are in the Bible..

I am opening mathtype.exe from richtextbox and type some mathtype equation editor after closing mathtype editor the data which i type must be displayed in richtextbox.I am tried this using sendkeys.send but it seems to be not working properly.Suppose mathtype equation in richtextbox you can open it by double click on them and you can edit then this changes will be saved in richtextbox, but first time it will not save the containt in richtextbox.

I know about the RichTextBox & to recognize links & the event for clicking links but when I click links now NOTHING happens, not anything at all, how do I make it so the links will open in the users default browser when clicked instead of nothing though?

Why would a .sln solution file open and appear empty in Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express - i.e. no windows showing projects and code files etc.When I inspect the file in a text editor, it contains references to vbproj files (which are present) which indicate that it should not appear as empty.No error messages are reported when the file is opened.

I've noticed that when you click on a web page in Windows Explorer, or open a file in general, and the default application to open it is internet explorer, ie opens and opens the file. However, when I tried this on my Web Browser it opened, but ignored the file and went on its usual routine. How can I get my Web Browser to open and open the file that was clicked on in explorer?

I saved a file with the extension .doc. I use the RichText to write and save the text. I did not set any encoding type when I saved it. When I tried to open the file in the Richtextbox again, I got all the formatting characters in the RTF file. How do I correct this? How do I open and re-open a .doc file in the Rich Text box control without the formatting showing up in the box with the document contents?

I am trying to read a txt file into a richtextbox and been doing some research and from what I read this should work, but I get a error saying that the file format is not valid. I thought that the richtextbox control can read txt files as well as rtf files automatically. The file I am trying to read is saved in Notepad as a txt file. I can open the file if it is rtf, but not if it is a txt. Any Ideas why it wouldn't work? I am also attaching the textfile I am trying to use. Here is what I got so far.

I have a My.Settings file that has a folder path that the user will select.I need to export text from a RichTextBox to a file, however, I can't seem to figure out how to use My.Settings as the path where the text file will be created.
Right now, I have:
Me.txtlog.SaveFile("C:UsersmycomputerDesktopNew folderfounditems.txt", RichTextBoxStreamType.PlainText)
which works fine, however, the My.Settings.destfolder is "C:UsersmycomputerDesktop estfolder"
I have tried:
Me.txtlog.SaveFile(My.Settings.DestinationFolder, RichTextBoxStreamType.PlainText)
but it doesn't work - and also I do not know how to name the text file from the above code.

I ran into another speedbump with loading a rich text format file to a rich text box. In the program the text file is supposed to load when an listbox item is clicked. I believe that the code is correct, however, the file is not loading or not displaying. After the code was changed to this I saved the program and moved it do the approperate directory and added RFT Troubleshooting Docs folder. Running Visual Basic Studio 2008.

what i am planning to do: Making a form wich contains a richtextbox, then using a string that includes the path of the file and the filename, example path: C:\lol.gfc if you would've check the string you will see that it is a non word document, i want to get the text wich is in this file in my richtextbox. i know that there are just normal characters and normal text in this document and i can open it with wordpad. this is how far i came...
