Currently I have jQuery that does a getJSON and traverses the JSON object to build certain elements of the page. Is there a way I can use ASP.NET (VB) to give the object to my jQuery script after I fetch it?

.Net Regex To Parse Specific JSON Format
Feb 20, 2010I'm writing a little web service which generates SO/SF/SU/MSO user flair in the form of an image with various "themes". I find this preferable to using the HTML/JS solutions offered by SO as it's more flexible and also works better in forum signatures.
I'm retrieving the data using the apparently unofficial API (More info here). I can have the data in HTML or JSON. I assumed the JSON would be easier to parse.
Unfortunately, I'm not great at regexes. and the best I can come up with is some very hacky sub-stringing. I believe a regex should be the most elegant solution
regex that matches ID, GravatarURL, ProfileURL, DisplayName, Reputation and Badge Counts (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
FWIW This is to be used in a VB.Net project (in case that affects the syntax at all)

Twitter Json - Unable To Convert To Jobject Or Jarray Using Json.net / Javascriptserializer?
May 9, 2012I am been stuck on this for 3 days now...I have been accessing the twitter api to pull a user_timeline for a list of users and the json that comes back is impossible to work with. I tried to deserialize it using javascriptserializer and get an error:invalid object passed in , ':' or '}'
Now this is frustrating since I expect the json being returned to be error free. Then I tried json.net and split the posts using string.split and tried to convert each post to Jobject or jarray. for Jarray I get
'unexpected end of content while loading jArray

Now I have formatted the code here and not pasted the whole file but it does look like valid json to me and I do not alter anything after receiving the stream from the twitter api. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I really need to get this stuff parsed?

Pass Data To Dialog - Manipulate And Pass Back?
Jan 15, 2010Just started VB programming this week and have found a wealth of information about what I'm trying to do. Problem is, some of it is more complete than others.Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning?Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:

Aug 26, 2010So I need a format string to pass to String.Format that would "move" the decimal point.I can't perform any math operations before doing the String.Format, so it has to work right off the bat.Basically I'm emulating a formatting string from a proprietary server. In it if I say:
"MR2"
for the value:
12345
The result is:
123.45
I'm close with this, but it's not spot on:
String.Format("{0:#0.##}", 12345)
an extra, but not necessary... there is also MR2Z, which moves the decimal 2 left, but if the value is 0 "" is returned.

C# - Encrypt Or Secure The JSON Data When Needed?
Sep 2, 2010I'm just starting to really get into JSON as a tool for my sites. I was showing my friend how I am calling a WS and returning the data, and he asked me about security of passing JSON data to and from a web service as he saw the data from the "POST" (via Firebug). Many of our public facing sites deal with member information and contain PHI.
Can I encrypt the JSON data and then unencrypt it? Is that a good way to go about it to ensure a layer of protection? Or is there another "better/right" way of doing it? Or are his concerns unfounded? how to encrypt or secure the JSON data when needed? Just trying to gather as much knowledge as possible before I go down a path that won't work for the company.

I know that this is not an array, because it is missing '[' and ']'. But when i replace the '{' and '}' with '[' and ']' i'm getting an error because of an invlaid matrix.

Now, I want to use JSON.NET to pull out the individual variables so I can know what the values of "status" and "level" are. The problem is, I have no idea where to start.
I'm doing this in VB.NET (on the .NET Compact Framework).

Jan 13, 2012[URL] Using this I have managed to use Server Side Web Methods to perform actions with AJAX.In most instances, I just need it to do stuff (save things to a database for example) so don't need to do anything with the response, but now I've come across a situation where I do, and I can't work it out!The Web Method returns a JSON object, which looks like this:

This is the output shown from Firebug. I am not sure what the 's are, but bear with it...The AJAX call and attempt at outputting this response is:

And several other variations from info I have found on Google and SO, but it seems to treat the results variable as a string, not an array, and the output I get on the alerts is each individual character, ie;

So I wondered if results needed to be converted to JSON again (though I don't know why) so I tried
results = $.parseJSON(data.d)
But that didn't work either.

Everything works fine for the first few but then I get this unexplained nullexception error " (Object reference not set to an instance of an object)Now I took a look at the declaration but cannot see how to change it. The error occurs at the last line above.I check to see if message is null and then look for the next desired field as follows

This is one example where "message" does not appear in the first few lines but appears later. So what I do is look for position of message and description and which ever is first go and get that and if I get an error or the fields do not return anything, I try and parse by regex and even that is not working right.
