View 4 Repliestried quite a bit of iterations, not a local admin so i dont want to even bother using the data connection wizard, want to do all of this with unbound controls only the harder way for learning purposes and also so i dont have to keep logging in as local admin and create data sources in the future. Cant really seem to get the table to fill, it appears always with blank fields, and tried many different ways. Currently using vb. net 2005 msvs.[code]

View 14 RepliesI have a button where I get data from a database that matches a search string I enter. Everything works fine the first time the button is clicked. However, if I click it again with a different search string, I get the same results as the original search string. I've tried to dispose, clear, and reset my dataset before I load the data each time, but it still finds the original query. This is the code I use to get and request the data:

Heres my issue, I am retrieving data from xml and populating a DataSet with the results into multiple DataTables but i have an issue where an item is repeated in my input data and it is causing it to exception because of the constraints imposed between these tables. how can i determine if a row exists prior to adding the DataRow and thus not include it in my DataTable?

Let's say I have ten rows on a data grid and I have changed data of three rows.
I am trying to save data by Linq for those three rows, but I am not sure how it is possible to save them.
I can do it by looping whole rows by checking each row for any change.
Is there any smarter way rather than looping by code, such as For Next.

I am almost there but for some reason I don't find the answer to my issue. Here it goes. In my application I have a form which displays a data grid view with some info I get through XML from a web server. The data grid view have as first column a Check Box colum. The second column have the information I get into a variable (from cells), one by one, to pass it to the sub with the XML command.
What I want to do is to be able to select all the rows and send the cell info of the second row (only for the selected rows) to my sub which will execute once then send the second cell info and execute the sub and so on until all the loop is complete. Currently my code works only if I delete one row at a time (sending the XML code will delete the info in the web server and update the datagridview which in return will remove the item).

This is a VB .NET application where we are showing the output of a SQL statement in a Datagrid view. using .NET 2005.We need to get the seperators of the headers on the grid control to be the same colors as the GridColor on the form. See the picture below:We've tried looking through all of the properties of the DataGridView control, and found some interesting things that looked promising such as the DataGridViewAdvancedHeaderStyle, and DataGridViewHeaderBorderStyle, but none of it seems to allow you to change the colors on it.Does anyone know how to do this without remaking the entire thing with a GDI+ control?

The split seems to be working fine but the issue i am having is when I populate the datagrid it is growing in height and changing the splitter instead of leaving the height alone and adding scroll bars.

I have students who will be enrolled into a course. The student grid view has many columns like client_no, student_name, date_of_birth, address, etc. There are over 100000 students so I will need to filter the student grid view to find the correct student to enroll in the course. Once they are found, the user selects them and somehow moves them to the enrolled grid view. If a student drops out then they would be removed from the enrolled grid view.This process needs to be easy to understand and use. Are there any examples available or other suggestions on how to do this?

GetInstance() is called from hundred different places in my program, and when I debug, the line "Prog = New Program" keeps getting hit for each of those calls. Which I thought was exactly what should NOT happen.. Or do I have some fundamental misunderstanding?

It seems the "New" sub triggers a number of calls to Program.GetInstance, before the first one completes. This is due to me earlier having lots of shared public objects in this class, which are no longer shared since the class was made singleton. And these objects, when initialized, calls the Program class for reference to other of it's objects.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".
How can i display (show) the same form multiple times? Lets say Form2. This code only shows the form once: Form2.Show()
View 10 RepliesI have a DGV in VB.Net 2008 connected to an Access DB table. The DGV is not Read Only, but is full of read-only columns except for one, which contains a combo box. The combo box allows the user to select an outcome for that particular row, and then the program copies in a pre calculated value into the "Profit" column depending upon the item selected in the combobox. Then the user hits the Save button and the DB updates (currently via SQL methods in the XSD).
Easy enough so far.

The problem I have is that it would seem that if a user selects the desired outcome from the combobox but does NOT hit Enter, and simply mouses on to a different combobox to again select the outcome for a different row, the first eventhandler is not disconnected and thus the events fire multiple times. This then causes various default MsgBox errors and brings up problems when the user tries to commit all changes to the DB/exit program etc etc.
What do I need to do? Do I need to .EndEdit somewhere appropriate to force the row to save the changes? And where should I call this?
I am trying to programmatically add an unspecified amount of new UserControls to a form. One will be added every time an entry is selected in a ComboBox contained within the UserControl. Problem is, the SelectedIndexChanged event fires completely erratically. Sometimes twice, sometimes 3 times, etc., but never just once. No matter how many times I set the combobox's SelectedIndex to -1, it fires at least once with a SelectedIndex of 0. Sometimes the Itemselected event fires multiple times inbetween SelectedIndexChanged events.
