Program An Intel RFID Reader?
Dec 29, 2010I've been studying how to program an Intel RFID Reader. Are there any suggestions/links/files on how to program this reader in VB? Its application will be for pervasive computing purposes.

I just ordered a new Netbook with runs an Intel Atom (N330)Duo Core.It will have Windows 7 64-bit.(Asus Eee PC1201N)The laptop I code on runs Windows Vista/32-bit OS.I recall reading you can specify the compiler for "any cpu"?Is there a means to have the final build be 64-bit?Or would "any" work fine?(Is there any difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit exe?
View 1 RepliesI was unable to register the related upnp.dll provided by the intel open source upnp tools package (as provided here:[URL] from the VB6 references dialog, it said something to the effect of "can't register .dll", but since it is written in (i think) C or C++ I figured there would be a way to make it useable somehow.I am mainly thinking of moving to intel's upnp because microsofts upnp.dll is not letting me progress further due to the following issue (works in .NET but not in VB6):[URL]how I would go about getting intel's upnp.dll (registers correctly in C# and VB.NET) to work in VB6?
View 1 RepliesI am new to VB .NET, now studing VB2008.Being an 8051 microcontroller enthusiast my dream is to program an at89c51 with my own device. This requires one GUI that can communicate with the device programmer via serial port. I have found the post "Serial Port Communication in VB.Net" by PsychoCoder at I have already built an interface in VB6 that can open and save .hex type text files which is in Intel Hex Format. I trying to do the same with VB .NET. Upto this everything seems alright.I do not under stand how to send this hex bytes to serial port as this is in reality is a text file and their ascii values represents a different value other than they looks

View 3 RepliesI have been looking all over the net trying to find a program that can read data from a USB CCID card reader.
after several hours and several pages of useless info i thought maybe there is a way i could create a simple progeam in VB to read the data, so i started another long search for info also to no avail.
Does anyone know of anything like this or if its even posable?
I am having an issue with both Adobe Reader and FoxIt Reader when trying to print a PDF document. Both issues are different but a solution to either one will allow me to fix my issue.The issue I am having with Adobe Reader when trying to print using the following code is that it will not print it to the network printer I specify but just the default printer.
Dim AdobeReader As New Process
AdobeReader.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = False
AdobeReader.StartInfo.Verb = "print"

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make an application that can read a 12 byte hex string from the serial port and display it into a text box, the source is a RFID module that is connected to my USB port using a RS232-USB converter.My first problem was accessing the text box in the datarecieved event due to invalid cross-threaded operation. Upon googling that, I copy/pasted the code I needed to get it work, these are all the cross threading functions.The OpenPort function and Datarecieved event are my own code, the rest I got off google. The application then worked, but I would get an incomplete code, the first swipe I would get all 12 digits, and at every other swipe, the first byte would vanish. Upon some more reading, I decided to make an array, the size of the incoming data (shown in the code below), but now I get the cross-threading error again.I know there's something wrong with the way I'm using the array. This is way beyond my VB knowledge, and I'm in o I'm an electronics engineer and self taught myself a little programming to create some apps for my hardware.Updated code:
Public Class Form3
Dim msg As String
Private Sub Form3_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles

I have installed hyperterminal for my RFID. When I scan the RFID, the tag is shown on the hyperterminal. I want to create a program using VB.NET that will function like the hyperterminal. When I scan the RFID, data will show and eventually, saving it on the database for further use.
View 1 RepliesDid anyone already try to read RFID tags but not by reading request?I mean, When some tag is readable can't just the RFID reader detect it?So far this is the code I've been trying to use without success.

i have to develop a software for motorola mc9090 that reads barcodes and rfids simultaneously, so i need to catch two different triggers: the one on the keyboard for barcodes and the other in the backside for rfids.the problem is that i didn't find any sample that illustrates how to set the trigger to read only barcodes, i found something on emdk 2.5 samples that shows how to set the trigger to read rfids but nothing for barcodes. So when i press any trigger the barcode reader is always enabled with rfids reader.Does exist a way to manage them with separated triggers?
View 1 RepliesI am currently rewriting a VBA XML reader to a VB.net version for a project. I have the following code in VBA:
Dim XML_Doc As Object: Set XML_Doc = CreateObject("MSXML2.DOMDocument")
Dim XML_Detail As New ADODB.Recordset: XML_Detail.ActiveConnection =
"Provider=MSDAOSP; Data Source=MSXML2.DSOControl.2.6;"
I was told that I should be able to use almost the exact code in my VB.Net version but I am running into some problems. I added as a reference to the VB.net project the Microsoft ActiveX 2.8 so I can use the ADODB.
The code in VB.Net is
Dim XmlDoc As Object : XmlDoc = CreateObject("MSXML2.DOMDocument")
Dim XmlDetail As New ADODB.Recordset : XmlDetail.ActiveConnection =
"Provider=MSDAOSP; Data Source=MSXML2.DSOControl.2.6;"
When running the application it gets to the XmlDetail and throws the following error:System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled. Arguments are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another.

View 9 RepliesI am attempting to read specific lines of GIANT text files (> 150 MB) with hundreds of thousands of lines. The files are contained on an FTP site. I can successfully open the files using FTPwebrequest and streamreader but to get to a specific line using streamreader, you have to read every line before it. Obviously this takes a lot of time when you need to get to the millionth line.
A much faster way, I think, would be to use filestream and the filestream.position function. However, I'm not sure how to open a file as a filestream from FTP. I have tried:
Dim ftpaddress as string = "ftp://####@ftp.textfile.asc+"
Dim fileStream1 As New FileStream(ftpaddress, IO.FileMode.Open, IO.FileAccess.Read)
How can i get my key's value using a stream reader [code]

I've been developing a simple virus scanner and it works by reading the hex code of a file and comparing it to signatures from a database. Anyway, the only thing slowing it down is how it reads the hex. This is the hex reading part of my code so far:

Dim ArrayHold() As Byte
Dim Index As Integer = 0
Dim Str As New StringBuilder
