Make A Program That Does Keyboard Shortcuts?

Apr 7, 2012

So recently my Netbook keyboard stopped working, I got this new one. That would not be a problem if it was not for the missing [FN] key. My computer has several shortcuts, like FN + F6 = Turns screen off.

I cant seem to figure out how to bind these shortcuts to buttons in Visual Basic so I can just hit the button and turn the screen off that way, I've only used VB to make small simple fun stuff.

On A Press Of Button On Keyboard Make Program Do Something

Dec 10, 2011

I am making this little tool for this online game i play (league of legends some of you might know it) Basically I made a small program which consists of 4 buttons and when you click button it starts timer and beeps once it reaches 0. Thats fine. Problem is I have to go out of game to click the button to start the countdown. My question is. While the program is running in background is there a way to press the button by assigning specific key on keyboard ? for example if I press F5 it will start the Bluebtn when i press F6 it will start Redbtn while I am in game.

Programmable Stand Alone Button (hardware+software)?

Oct 1, 2009

I need to have a physical button that when pressed will be noticed by my program. There are many types of usb-buttons that are preprogrammed to open a website, shutdown the computer and so on. And I have seen some projects using buttons and serial port. But none of them "have it all", an easy description of how to put togheter the hardware, and an easy description of the code.

I really only need a button connected to the serial port that send some signal that the button has been pressed.I know this question is a crossover between software and hardware, but when I googled this I have seen plenty more people asking this question, all of them left without answers.Maybe this question fits stackoverflow?

EDIT: My solution

My application in this case was a que system and I wanted a button for people to print a que ticket.I just took apart an old ps2-mouse and bought me a button (4$) and solded two wires from the circuit board to the button. Each mouse button has to dots on the back of the circuit board that we can connect an external button to.Then in my program I just hooked the mousebutton-event systemwide to get when the button is pressed, in my case this computer is dedicated to this program so its not a problem.

Currently i put the cursor for instance in an excel cell, then click the key on the virtual keyboard and nothing is inputted into the cell, i assume because it selects the keyboard window when i click the button. For some keys I'm also simply using:SendKeys.Send("q") for example.

Unable To Make Keyboard Functions?

Aug 29, 2011

I wanted to make a calculator. Its fully made and everything but I recently wanted to add more to it. Only thing I can't figure out to do is to make keyboard functions. Like, if I want to type in the numbers instead of clicking the buttons on the calculator to input it into the calc. [code]....

It works to a certain point but i found out that the timer input multiple integers when pressing a key so I thought of about turning off the timer and then having the timer turn back on somehow but that is as close as i can get.

VS 2010 - How To Make Calculator Work To Use Only Keyboard

Aug 26, 2011

I'm new in the programming area and I'm having trouble making a calculator. My question is: How do I make the calculator work using only the keyboard, without the need of mouse.

I tried this:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Me.KeyPreview = True
End Sub
Private Sub FlowLayoutPanel1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e
As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles RESULTADO.KeyDown
If e.KeyCode = Keys.NumPad0 Then
[Code] .....

It only works on the text box called Result. I want to know how do I make work in the whole Class, and if it is possible, to make it work on two different Classes without writing twice the same code.

Way To Just Send Keys And Make Them Appear As If Typed Them On A Keyboard?

Aug 26, 2009

I am making an Auto Typer and it was going all good until I came apon a mysterious problem. When sending the space key or enter key with "Send Keys. SendWait" they come up with their numerical equivalent, 32 and 13.For example, a user types "test" into the textbox, and clicks "{Text} {Space} {Text}" in the options menu. The user clicks start and the output is "Text32Text32Text".Is there any way to just send the keys and make them appear as if you typed them on a keyboard?

Command Line Strings - Make The Program Close If The -1 String Is Sent With The Program

Feb 25, 2010

If e.CommandLine.Count > 0 Then

Dim IncomingCommand As String = e.CommandLine.Item(0).ToString

If IncomingCommand.Substring(0, 2) = "-1" Then

End If

End If

I am trying to make the program close if the -1 string is sent with the program. See my installer allows for me to run certain programs before it actually installs, but it doesn't shut down copies of the program itself. So I have a next startup instance set to shut the program down if the -1 is received. But if the program is not running it starts up instead. This is not desired. form1.close doesn't work. e.cancel = true doesn't work, etc etc. What can I do to make the program not start during this instance.
