Programmatically Delete On Graphic Shape Of Many On Form?
Jan 21, 2010
I have drawn lines and boxes on a form programmatically. How do I programmatically delete one of them? Let's say I draw a line and then a box, (using button1). How do I delete the line and not the box? Or can I?

I am looking to build some small custom buttons. I want to keep it simple and give them a gradient backgroud and use grey colours to illustrate shapes on them. Very similar to the buttons you see in Excel/Power Point/Word 2007 at the bottom right of the screen. The buttons are next to the slider bar which increaes the view % of the screen. These buttons are grouped together and have different combinations of squares/rectangles on them for viewing options Any idea where to start with the shapes?

I have got a couple of VB Powerpack Ovalshapes on my Form.I use these for a quick indication if the networked device is online or offline.I can't seem to control the Visible function (or any other function for that matter) one my Background Worker is running.For my Textboxes I used a guide by jmcilhinney which worked great for them but there is no 'Invoke' property for graphics controls.

I created a custom control and add it to a form programatically.
The user can add and move them all over the form.
The problem is when I want to clear the form of my user control I don't know how.
I created an array of my control called ctlCorkNotes
Say I create ctlCorkNotes(1) and now I want to delete it.
How do I do this so it is gone and would have to recreate it to show up again?

I have been working on a small hack around with Power Point to automatically create a Text Box Shape with some preset effect in which the text is dynamically fetched from clipboard. I have quiet a bit of a problem here, the functionality works fine with the following VB script with macros.
Sub ReadFromFile()
' CLIPBOARD
Dim MyData As DataObject
Dim strClip As String[code].....
providing the script for wrapping the text inside the shape which has a defined width and height as in the code above?

I'm trying to make a mini map for a 2d space shooter of mine; I've for the math down (I think) for when an item should appear on the mini map, but the problem is the graphic. As it stands, the graphic spills over the edge of the mini map graphic and disappears only when it's fully outside. I need it to crop the image, or at least not show it off the mini map graphic.I thought of using the sourcerect rectangle of the spritebatch.draw, but it seems to me that would only work for the right and bottom section, as I can adjust the size of the rectangle. I haven't tried this yet, but I will soon. Can the location of the source rectangle be changed in relation to the graphic that it is a part of being drawn so that I can use that to crop the left and top sides?

I found out there are ways to Select, Insert, and Update Excel file by using OLEDB. But the limitation is that we can not delete a record.My idea is to delete row (instead of record). The question is how to programmatically delete row in excel, by id selected?I want to delete the row where id = 3. I can grab the id, but have no idea how to delete the row which contains the id 3.

Right so I have made a graphic of a coin being flipped. Heads is shown on one graphic, tails on the other. I wanna set it up so that when I hit go it will randomly play one of the two graphics on one of my forms.How easy is it to add a .gif file to a form that can play when told to? What is the code im looking for to help with me with what I'm trying to do?
Another thing I plan to achieve is also a random number generator that will display a number on a ball that rolls on to the screen. So the displaying of a number will be timed to show up when the ball comes in focus. I have some code that I have used previously to generate a number, but I wanna get the generated number to show in time with the ball rolling up.What are some wait commands to use in vb .net? This is the code I am using to randomly generate a number.
vb
Dim r As New Random
TextBox1.Text = r.Next(0, 150)

I designed a complicated graphic that draws on a Visual Basic screen. But how can I transfer the image to a bitmap or some other format that I can post on the Internet? I've tried the XAML editor in Microsoft Expression Web but people don't like downloading Silverlight, at least that's what they tell me.

I am having some issues with an application written in VB.net.
As part of a routine, an sqlce database gets backed up before the routine then if an error occurred gets restored. I am using system.io methods copy and delete.
I have released all the objects (connections, commands, datareaders) asscociated with the sqlce database by disposing them if they are not nothing. I also do a GC.COLLECT however when my delete command runs, an error message says it is open by another process. The PROCEXP.exe process explorer tool says it is attached to 4 undefined processes. After a while in debug mode, these clear and I am able to delete the file. However this is not acceptable as my program cannot "wait around" until they are released! I was under the impression that object.dispose forced an immediate disposal rather than waiting for the garbage collector to clean up (if you were just to use object=nothing), but still there appears to be a finite time before these objects are released.
My question is, is there an alternative way of checking (programatically in vb) for what is holding open an sqlce database (or in fact any other file for that matter) then killing these processes?

On my Form Design the Buttons are nice and round.
When I go to Run the program they all change to Hard Rectangular shapes and rounded corners dissapear.
I did not add anything inside the code to do this.
The code was translated from other version.
Should I look in the code since it happens to all of the buttons and what to search?

I have a form with around 20 ovalshapes (the one that comes with Power Packs 3.0). I have named them p1, p2, p3, p4 and all the way up to p20. Is it possible to loop trough each shape in the form and check if the name contains a specified number? I'm thinking of something like this:
For Each ovalshape In Me
If ovalshape.name.contains("13") Then
ovalshape.backcolor = Color.Black
End If
Next

I need to draw several line-graphics on a form, then select and drag individual graphics to new locations. Is it possible for example to give each graphic path an identity when drawn, then select any one (via mousedown, whatever) and link it to the dragged mouse co-ordinates until released? MS Visio has exactly this ability - can it be done in .NET?

In addition to the shapes you can create with the code from this thread. [URL]. Here is code to make a control or a Form into a vertical cross shape. This will show you how you can do it in Vb.Net 2008 and 2010 using extension methods. The following post will show how you could do it differently in Vb.Net in other versions as well as Vb.Net 2008 and 2010.
1) From the PROJECT menu select
ADD MODULE.
2) In the NAME box type
CrossShapedThings.Vb and then click on OK.
3) PASTE this code in.>>
Option Strict On
Imports System.Runtime.CompilerServices
Module CrossShapedThings
<Extension()> _
Public Sub MakeCrossShaped(ByVal aControl As Control, Optional ByVal CrossWidth As Integer = 10)
