I have attached an example file (it's from a game, and it's a free game, so I don't think this is not allowed?). When opening that with Notepad I see loads of spaces and a few strange characters. When opening it with Wordpad, I see mostly strange characters (but the "textures/..." strings I need are still there). When reading it with VB (IO.File.ReadAllText or using a StreamReader) I cannot get it to show more than a few random characters, and the "textures/..." strings are no longer there...
So I have a csv file:

My problem is when i use this schema.ini, the 9th, 10th and 11th column of the second row of the csv file doesn't read properly if there's a special character in it (it supposed to be telphone number), i think because the row above is returned as a number(integer) because it's pure numeric:

I'm new to WebRequest authentication and have been researching how to authenticate w/ a couple websites to pull some excel data from them. Couple things I'm confused about is
a.) how to properly read a log from Fiddler (using this to pick up get/post data from the website authentication)
b.) how do use the data from Fiddler to program the VB.NET WebRequest properly.
I've been able to authenticate w/ websites that use simple authentication HTTPS, but any site that does any redirects/REST/cookie auth I'm lost.
I have a fairly simple XML file that I just want to read the data from.
It has 3 levels, root, main section and items. There are no attributes. I want to go to the first main section by name, then read in all the items. The items all are named the same. I've seen this done before, so it should be ok. No writing will be done. Basically this is a static data file

On the photobrowser (which constructs thumbnails of every photo in a folder and draws them onto a bitmap which I then make persistent and from which the user can select a thumbnail and the image is shown in full on a new form). You can print the bitmap consisting of 100s of thumbnails or the full image associated with a thumbnail. The onloy thing missing is getting all the Exif info - which is proving more difficult than I expected despite the propetyitems in vb.net. Yes, I have set the encoding to UTF8 etc.

I have a feeling it is an easy one, but for the life of me i cant figure it out. My project at the moment is to grab content from a website and use it in some way (havent worked out this part yet, still trying to get the data).
Currently, i have grabbed the whole website and written it to a text file.. No dramas there. Then i read each line until i find a certain string... Again, no dramas. MY problem is; after reading and finding the certain string, i want the program to grab whatever "characters" there are until it reads a certain string again, and then put those characters into a string for later use.

I am trying to import and read data in from an Excel file that is being updated every half second by way of a DDE Link from RSLinx Gateway,which I think is a default setting, though that data only changes every few minutes. There are 5 rows and 8 columns of data that I am reading in.Each column is a different tester starting with the second row, Testers 1 through 7. The first column has titles that describe the data coming in from the DDE links.

This code places the numbers in the data array when there is not any text in the file, i.e. when there are no headers. View 5 RepliesI am returning to VB building, first time since HighSchool. I am creating a program that has many fields of data that you type into. When you click Generate Button it then writes all that data a .txt file and opens it in notepad.
From that point you copy everything in notepad and paste it into a ConnectWise HelpDesk Ticket.
My goal is to automatically get the data when clicking Generate to populate into the Clipboard, or let it write to the .txt file and then copy all the data from the .txt file into the clipboard. So all you have to do is Ctrl + V after Clicking "Generate"
