All i want to do at the end of my sub is make it go to the next instance in the list
say if its on A (the first instance) i do my thing then it rolls to the next instance B and so on
I have a list with a boolean value as one of the properties. I need to check if every one of these is true. Now normally LINQ would give a nice clean answer here, but as I am using .NET 2.0 I can't use that.If there a nicer way to do this or am I going to have to do a for each loop and break out on finding a false?
Edit:Seems I could have been a bit clearer. I have an object in a list (eg List (Of MyObject)). There is a boolean property on this object called Processed.I need to check that all objects in the list are processed.So in LINQ I'd do:if (from o in list where o.processed = false select o).count = 0 then....
I am developing a VB application using the Visual Studio 2008 IDE. I was making changes to my code using the Quick Replace function when the dialog window stopped displaying. Selection of Quick Find or Quick Replace from the Edit menu, as well as use of shortcut keys (CTL+F and CTL+H) all have the same affect: the IDE loses focus but no dialog windows display. Is this a known issue with an available fix?

I have a list of 100,000 urls in list(Of string) which can contain urls in the form.[URL]..i have tried using a combination of regex and the Uri class, but that didn't help, so i dumped the code. i also tried using this code, but it will only remove duplicatse of exact form, since its not domain specific.
list = new ArrayList<T>(new HashSet<T>(list))
How filter these duplicates and keep just one of these url if it contains the same name e.g yahoo.
all URL are of different domains, but can usually have duplicates like the example i gave above
also, am using .net 2.0, so i can't use linq
I am working on an application using VB6.0, in which mails are to be automatically sent through an SMTP server.The mails which are sent through the server are going into the recipient's JUNK-FOLDER.One way could be adding the sender's domain/ID to Client's Outlook Safe Senders List manually.But instead of setting it manually, I want to add a domain/ID to the Safe Sender's List through my application itself.

The error is actually being thrown on the Invoke line, but as I said earlier, if the user is in the same domain, this works perfectly.
I've made a program that can add 4 items in a row in a list box, for instance
Item Make Guarentee qty Price
toy car rover 1 1 £45.00
monkey monkey 2 1 £65.00
total: £100.00
The problem is I can't get the price to total up in a lable or textbox, however,I can make it work if i seperate the box and make two, listbox1 for item,make,gtee, qty and listbox 2 for price only.I don't want this because i want the row to delete in one go instead of deleting it from two boxes which is a time taker. code below

In a program that I'm putting together, I have a small class and in the program, I add instances of that class to a List(Of [that class]).Later in the program I test whether or not that list contains a particular instance of the class, but it fails to return true when I've proven that it's in there. I've since set up an iteration routine where it finds it, but it has me puzzled why the ".Contains" will not locate it.
My question is simple: When I have a List where I add an instance of a structure or class, does it not actually examine the contents of the structure or class inside it?

Work for instance of type List(of Object) but not for instance of type List(Of List(Of Object).
Object is the most generic type in .net so List(of Object) is an Object and the extension shoud work?

In LoadDataBound, it says set rs = GetData(). This calls to the Function below, but why does it require to be set as an object of the rs recordset. Correct me here, because i'm most likely wrong, but does it require this so that you're able to make a function out of the recordset without having to use the same name for both (recordset and function) ? Or is there another process going on here that i'm unaware of.
I have a mdicontainer form that summons forms. My problem is when the a user clicks again the menu for that form, it also make another instance of it.
What I did is declare a public class with a public variable on it ex: Boolean isFormOneOpen = false. Then every time formOne opens, it checks first the global variable I declared a while ago if it's false, if it is, instantiate an object of a formOne and then show it. Otherwise, do nothing. Very static, imagine if I have many forms, I have to declare a variable for each form to check if it's already open. Maybe a method that accepts a Form? Or any more clever way to do this.
in vb 2008 express this option is available under application properties. does anyone know what is its function? does it make it so that it's impossible to open two instances at the same time?

View 3 RepliesI have a class inside a class.I need to expose the properties of the 2nd class to other classes, therefore it is public.However, I do not wish other classes to be able to create instances of this 2nd class, it should only be instantitated from its parent class.I thought I could resolve this issue by making the constructor of the 2nd class private, but this even prevents the parent class from instantiating its child class! How can I work around this, do I have to make the constructor public and allow anybody to create an instance of the class?

I am trying to do my sorts such as bubble sort and quick sort i got the bubble sort to work but cant seem to get the quick sort to work.

I have a RichTextBox where I expect 100 characters per line. Each line can start with the letter A, B, or C. I may have thousands of lines and most of them will start with the letter C.When the cursor is moved from one line to another and is placed on a "C" line, I need to be able to quickly locate the nearest "B" line above it. It may be hundreds of lines away. A loop to search for the "B" line using GetFirstCharIndexFromLine(x) is too slow.
The user may want to paste many lines into the textbox. If necessary, a mild wait after pasting is acceptable.Do you have any suggestions for a technique to accomplish what I need to do? Even just a high level suggestion like "use a linked list"
