I have Both legit windows 32 and 64 bits, and i'm working into a project where i could create a bootable pendrive to any of those versions in any machine(32 or 64 bits), but i'm facing problems, i cant create a bootable 64 bits pendrive from a machine running 32 bits, the command "Bootsect /nt60" works only from 32bits to a 32bits bootable flash disk?

i have been searching Google for weeks now looking for help on a project, i'm not in school college etc, i am a network admin in a secondary school. Basically i was sick of teachers/pupils losing their pen drives and complaining to us that their work is missing, i set out to create a program to ease the backing up process to ensure this happened less often. i did manage to create a program using 'Get current directory' & 'Copy directory' and it works fine but not to the standard i want. Here is a clip of my current program, pretty neat for a beginner i think.I want the .EXE to sit on the pendrive and extract everything to a backup folder when it's run.Because (h:/) or whatever the letter, is a DRIVE, copy directory method wont work.

View 12 RepliesI created a simple service that does some inventory and records the data to a MySQL server. The service starts just fine when told to from the services administration panel. However, it will not on computer bootup. I get the famous error.
The InventoryService service failed to start due to the following error:The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I've read that logs can be a problem, so I disabled the autolog...but that didn't solve any problems. I believe it has something to do with the user not already being logged in and attempting to connect to a remote database. So, I added a function to check for internet connectivity before executing any inventory methods or SQL queries. This did not fix it either.
EDIT: I also am receiving the following error in the administrative logs. I create the service dependant upon the Tcpip service, but it still fails.A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the InventoryService service to connect.

with all permissions.the file i am using is winload.exe.mui in vista you should no this file as it contains boot data.
1. Does Windows load the .Net framework at boot time? How can I check (eg. some DLL running in the background)? How much RAM does the framework use, so that I check I have enough to pre-load at boot time? Once loaded, will it stay in RAM?
2. What is the point of JIT once the application is installed on a given computer? Are there drawbacks about compiling into binary code applications that I use often on my own computer so that no time is wasted recompiling the application every time it's ran? If not, can I compile apps for which I only the .Net bytecode?
3. Is the framework downward-compatible, ie. will a 2.0 application run if I only have the 4.0 framework installed?

I set boot priority to only boot off of the flash drive yet it will not run. I tried writing an autorun.ini file, which did nothing. I think i need to make a boot.ini file.

View 5 RepliesWhile I've previously many years of relational databases and procedural languages, I'm stumbling with Visual Basic. In this problem, the simple situation is that I have two files, parent and child. The primary key of the parent file (Area file) is linked by a relation to one of the two fields that makes up the primary key in the child file (Project file) (unique key is formed from 'area' and 'project'). I have the default table adapters created on both files. I have created two maintenance forms showing one each of the two files in datagrid view format.I can create some records in the Parent (Area) file, but when I try to create a record in the child (Project) file, using one of the valid key values from the Area file, I get the 'ForeignKeyConstraint [relation name] requires the child key values [actual value] to exist in the parent table' which I'm absolutely definitely sure it does.
I haven't done any actual coding for those two maintenance forms, just dragged-and-dropped the files from the data sources screen onto separate forms so it creates the controls itself. But I can't work out, if it already knows the data does exist because I can load it back in to the Area maintence form, why it can't check itself to find out the record does exist. Why does it think the record from the parent record doesn't exist? It does exactly the same thing, whether or not the database is in access or SQL Server Express. I have all the latest updates.
I have two tables Products and Categories with a many to many relationship. I am trying to copy the categories linked to one product (OriginalProduct) to another product (newProduct). The problem is when I execute the SaveChanges() method, I not only get the records in my linking table, but it also creates another copy of the categories in the categories table. I've tried this in many ways but here are the last couple that I've attempted:

I have a problem with my program, and it's really bad because I need to burn it to disk within 12 hours and I can't get it to work: If I create a record, add information to it and click on Next Record, the ID, Status and Notes boxes content will change but the rest of the controls contents are carried over to the next record and I don't know why or how. It was working perfectly but now it stopped and I never done anything.

The one area I am have a problem is PositionItem. I would like to sense that the User has changed the Record Number in the BindingNavigatorPositionItem, handle my record Update, and move to the Record Number the User entered I have looked all over and have not found any way to do this.
