I have a Panel within a TabPage, which draws an arc depending on three fields that the user fills in. I've managed to get this to draw and animate correctly. However, when I switch tabs (I have 3 tabs), or sometimes alt + tab out of the program to look at the API, the Panel (with the drawn arc) clears.
Is there any way to redraw the graphics within the panel? I've tried creating a handler to draw graphics whenever a 'Panel1.Paint' event is triggered, but I'm relatively new to VB and its graphical nuances.
However, when I switch back to the panel, it has a red cross through the whole Panel and nothing is drawn, unless of course I press the button again which causes the graphics to redraw but the red cross persists.

I am using System.Windows.Forms.TabPage to store an entire TabPage for later use in My.Settings. Here is a brief description of the application.
I have a TabControl that has 3 tabs. One for user input, another tab for equipment settings, and then a final tab for Oven settings. On the user input tab, if the user de-selects the checkbox for Oven, the oven tab is saved to My.Settings and hidden.
I can then run the application without oven control. After running, lets say the user would like to re-run, this time with the oven. They go back to the input tab and re-select the Oven checkbox. However, the Oven tab doesn't re-appear. When stepping through the code, the is nothing stored in My.Settings for the oven tab page. Why not?
Also, I can open the application, and check, then uncheck the oven checkbox and the tab is hidden, then returns. I can do this all day. However, after running the tab will not return.
In a simple hang man game I am I have a a method called wrong(). In this method I increase an integer variable (wrongGuesses) by one and Panel1 is refreshed. Panel1 is the control that I am drawing the actual hangman on and in its paint event I'm using a Select Case structure to draw each part. Here is my code for the wrong() method and the Panel1 paint event.
The problem I'm having is that every time Panel1 is refreshed everything is erased and and the paint event only draws a single part (head, body, left arm, etc). I realize I could redraw the entire stick man every time, but that seems inefficient. Also, I realize that I could Invalidate() each part of the stick man and then Update(), but that I was hoping for a simpler method.
I need to center the red panel in the middle of the dark grey panel, when you resize the form the red panel should be in the middle, and the red panel can't be resize, anyone have a code or property to do this?
I am using the printform object from the powerpack, I have a form that I want to print and take up the whole page when it is printed. To do this i have to resize the form and then print it.. then take it back to the orginal size.

Hi, I'm using the Drawline method by capturing coordinates entered into 4 textboxes and then printing the image onto a picturebox. However, I can't get the previous line to be redrawn along with the new line that needs to be drawn. I understand that it refreshes when using the picturebox.refresh() function.

So far, I have always run applications within the IDE, using Debug Mode.If I publish an application will I have to add code to repaint Picture Box graphics?In the IDE, my Picture Box graphics never get disturbed by running some other application or minimizing my forms.
I have noticed some discussions which suggest that code is needed in the Paint Event Handler in order to redraw graphics which disappear due to minimizing the form or running another application which displays a window covering my application.
Redrawing rectangles on a Form? I have a problem repainting my form, I'm creating a "Bouncing block" Type of game , the Ball as a PicturBox, the Bar as A Picture Box And the Breakable "Targets" as An Array of Rectangles created in my forms Paint event using "e.Graphics.FillRectangles(Brush, rectsF)". I'm drawing my own charts based on values from a db. I'm drawing "directly" on the forms, so to speak. The thing is everytime the application is deactivated or if someting comes in front of the charts, the drawing dissappears. For instance, I have a contextmenu in one chart and whenever I use it there is a "hole" in the chart afterwards where the menu has been. Now I can see the reason for it, but how do I get around it?

I'm working with adding some user-friendly options to a program that I've developed. A lot of these require handling painting the control myself. So far this hasn't been an issue except for this case.In a context menu, I have a text box that a user can type into. However, the context menu doesn't seem to let me input a label next to it so that the user knows what the text box is for. So, I wanted to paint the text box myself but I can't get the routine to work.I have tried to put the following code in the paint event for both the context menu and the text box itself. In the paint method for the context menu, the string and the text box show up at the top of the menu. Not 3 items down like it should. Also, I don't think the end result is truly a text box.[code]I believe that txtRect is set to the rectangle for the context menu and not for the text box itself. If you run this code, "Filter By:" should show up at the top of the context menu.

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.
I would like to add an effect where a panel sweeps out of the way to make room for another panel. This is sort of like a sliding effect, and I think at one point in time this could be seen on Apple's website under their product pages. I came up with some code, but it isn't working.
When a user is editing a given piece of data, they're allowed to add messages/comments. These are stored as child records in a SQL database. Clicking on the Add Message button brings up a panel (pnlMessage) courtesy of the AJAX ModalPopup Extender. This takes some input and, when the "Send Message" button in the panel is clicked (I learned the hard way to NOT make that the 'OkButton' property), the message is stored in the database and an email is sent to the intended recipients. No problem there.
However, I need to be able to allow the user to add new email addresses (so long as they are registered in our database). I have another ModalPopup / panel combo (pnlSearch) that's tied to a button on the previous panel (pnlMessage).
The user is supposed to be able to add an email or click on a search button to populate a list to choose from.
The pop-up panel (pnlSearch) comes up just fine, but clicking the "Lookup" button (which instigates the search and returns a collection of records that the user is supposed to pick from) closes the panel.
Previously, I ran into the problem of having the Button.Click event never firing when I put the Button into the "OkControlID" property (the CancelControlID works fine since I don't want to do anything). Removing the "OkControlID=Button" line allowed it to work perfectly with the Button.Click event firing as expected.
So now I have the Search panel with a button for "OK" and a button for "Search" - but the panel should stay up and visible after the Search.Click does it's thing. Am I missing some property that basically says "don't close the panel when this button is clicked"? Of course, if I bring up the panel again in the same session, the results from the previous effort are there (the search results).
I have a TopBar, A LeftBar, A VScrollBar, A HScrollBar and a Panel inside a SplitContainer Panel.The issue I'm having is that when my SplitContainer Panel is small enough to enable one of the ScrollBars, I will slide the ScrollBar and then when I resize the Split Panel, my Panel1 is staying where I scrolled it too.I'm having troubles thinking of the correct code to fix this.
I'm working on a visual studio 2008 VB.Net project (.net framework 2.0), and am having some trouble with the Panel control using a fixedsingle border. As a small example of the problem, suppose I have one Panel2 contained inside of Panel1. If the Left position of panel2 is set to 0 (meaning it's border is up against the left edge of Panel1), the left border will show as bold, and slightly indented.

VB2010: All, I am using a picturebox to show the constellation of GPS satellites, that starts out OK. I have to redraw every now and then, because if a dialog box gets drawn on top of it, the data doesn't refresh after the dialog box is closed. Same with moving the Frame around the screen, I have to redraw the picturebox. (not sure why, but I can live with that) When I first start the program and received data from the receivers and plot the Constellation the refresh/redraw is very quick, (just a flicker) then after about 30 mins or so the refresh seems to redraw the picturebox slower and slower. I can see the individual satellites (fillellipse) redraw.
Also, I have moved the picturebox into a TAB-frame. Even when I switch from on Tab to another, the picturebox will not refresh automatically. I have to do a clear and then replot the information.
t.panel is the main panel and it has too much content to fit in one screen so there are scroll bars. x.panel contains the horizontal scale for the data points in t.panel. I drew the scale using a bitmap and set it as x.panel's background.
Setting x.panel's horizontalscroll.value = t.panel's horizontalscroll.maximum doesn't seem to work. I think this is because x.panel's doesn't have any content that causes it to need scroll bars.
I have a problem with a certain panel in another panel.
I have declared a panel on my mainform that is called panel1 ( dock: fill)
In this panel is another panel ( panelmain )with size 10.000, 10.000 pixels. Now I put the auto scroll property of panel1 to true, so then the panel1 has scrollbars on both sides and can show the whole panelmain.
Now the user has the ability to zoom, which basically means that I just scale Panelmain with all it's child controls.
Like Panelmain.Scale(0.95) ( To zoom out ) And panelmain.scale( 1.05) ( To zoom in)
This works well, but when the user is using the scrollbars in panel1 and after that zooms in ( or out ) the location of panelmain is changing. So I tried to solve this by docking panelmain inside panel1 at the left. But now the vertical scrollbar is gone. how I should dock panalemain inside panel1 to prevent panelmain from moving around but also in a way that both the horizontal as the vertical scrollbar are present?

I have 2 panels on the form butttt for panel one i want to slide height and panel 2 i want it to slide width.
In VB6 I could embed a panel or picturebox containing controls or images within an outer panel or picturebox. If I moved the outer control then the embedded panel would move with the outer panel and stay in the same relative position, which is what I require. This doesn't seem to happen in VB.NET, the internal panel stays fixed in its location, even if I have pasted this panel within the outer container. Is there are trick to this or do I have to code to get the internal panel to move with the outer one? How does an internal container remain embedded within an outer one?

i am creating a web browser to make something i do at work a bit easyier to manageits a form with a few tabsi need each tab on form1 load, to start individual .exe's that i have already created.these .exe's are simple web browsers that are automatically navigated to a website with a asp query for loginthe website for each tab is identical only the login asp querychanges.the reason for this is i cant use a single .exe otherwise it retains the login and i get identical logins on each.
