Return Arraylist From Strings.split?
Dec 22, 2011I was wondering if there is a way to get an arraylist returned from strings.split as opposed to a 1-D array. I can't seem to find how to do it.

Mar 20, 2012I want to create an array of an array (or arraylist of an arraylist) to hold strings.I want to fill an array1 with string values Then add this array to array2. - but only taking up 1 row in array2 e.g something like array2(index)=array1 Then clear array1 then loop through this again with different data, and add it to the array2.so will end up with something like
array2(0)... contains a collection of array1 data
array2(1)... contains a collection of different array1 data
.. and so on
i think i need to make new instances of array1 each loop, but not sure.I dont mind if it uses arrays, or arraylists, or lists, or structure of arrayslists?

Jan 6, 2009I'm having trouble using an arraylist with an object. [code] The arraylist Phrase gets populated with 4 objects (WordObject) filled with the word "Fox".The arraylist AnotherPhrase gets populated with strings "The", "Quick", "Brown", "Fox".Why does the Phrase Arraylist do that? Shouldn't there be 4 objects each with different words?

Mar 13, 2012I am working on my program to read the html tags using with httprequest. When i set the timer, it connect to my site via httprequest and it will read the whole tags from the php source when I am trying to compare between <p id='mystrings1'> and the <span id="mystrings2">Enabled">.

i want to split the string at ":" and have username appear in txt2.text and password appear in txt3.text i have this code but doesn't work for what i want to do.

Oct 5, 2011Update: I didn't make it clear but I meant this to be a question about where/how I would use a function to return a list of strings when I'm trying to just work with classes.I have a class called Account.
I have data access class called AccountDAO.I have various functions that return lists of objects like GetAllAccounts, GetAccountByID etc.I want to populate a drop down list with just the account names and nothing else. It's proving rather slow when using lists of objects and databinding them to the dropdownlist.
I feel like I should be using a simple "Select Account_Name From blah" type statement and returning a list of strings but I don't know how to work this into my class and data access class.

Where Me.Note is a string that I am looking for and replacing it with the contents of txtNote.text. And then storing it all back in the string CoverPage.CoverPage is an rtf string that will holds place holders for the text I want to change.(That works) But when i update the note that may have a carriage return in it, the coverpage does not reconize the carriage returns comping from the Multiline textbox when its displayed.I have tried replaceing Enivronment.Newline with vbCr, vbCrl and whatever else I can think of. is there an issue with taking a string carriage control and tranfering it to a rtf carriage control?

So I have somthing like that:

If I use
Session("myKey") = s
it is working for the moment.
After PostBack I want to add another string to the session.
If do the same thing again, then i will overwrite my Sessiondata.
So I'm searching for something like this:

TryCast(Session("myKey"), ArrayList).Add(s)
In this case the Sessiondata would be stored correctly, but my code is not correct.

What I would like to do is split it so it shows in a listbox as

I have come up with a solution which may work. Its preety over complicated too me but this is the only way I could think of?
What I need help on is a code so that after every ".txt" it will place a "/" so the string will look like this:
document1.txt/document2.txt/document3.txt/
Then I would use this code to split the string:

Dec 1, 2011What I am doing is iterating through all the groups that belong to the top group (Generic reports). Then I take advantage of the GroupPrincipal.GetMembers(True) which will recurse through a given group name. I test to see if the user exits under that group and if true I put the group name in an arraylist.
I use the for each principal in GroupPrincipal.GetMembers to loop through each returned user to see if they exist.
Is there a way to put all the returned users Principal.Name from a given group in GroupPrincipal.GetMembers into an ArrayList? This would allow me to to use Arraylist1.IndexOf to search for user. Which would be much faster then iterating through a returned list using the for each construct.
