I'm working on a little project it is like the task manager but i want it to get a list of all current processes, the path and icon of each. i could manage to get the list but i need to know how to get the path of each and the icon. i'm using a list view to do this. any suggestions?
View 4 RepliesIm working on a Dll Injector. But that is not my problem. I am using a picturebox to display the icon of a running process. E.g. If google chrome is running. The picturebox should display the icon of google chrome.
I can extract the icon to my picturebox only if I know the full path of the process. That API was easily found and works very well.
But know I want my application to get the full path of a running process automatically as soon as I order it.Like in a textbox is write: chrome.exe, and press the button next to it. What do I need to write in the button to get the full path of that running process.(of course only if its running, I if its not running I dont want anything to happned)

I have an app that runs from a network share/UNC path.i.e.\\networkserver\inventory\_application\systeminventory.exe.inside the app I call a 3rd party tool and run it from a subdirectory of the app. \\networkserver\inventory\_application\3rdparty\tool\tool.exe hide the window, and pull the output to a Text field.When I run the application local it runs great, it even calls the 3rd party tool from the UNC path and functions.But when I run the application from the UNC path and try to use the 3rd party tool it fails.I'm figuring it's cause the CMD prompt tries to kick off from the UNC path, and UNC paths are not supported as current paths. i.e. you can't do a "CD \\networkserver\inventory\". View 3 RepliesI have a program written in VB.net 2003 that are folks run under alternate credentials. Inside the app there is an option to open a UNC path to a network share. We were running Windows XP SP3 and IE6. The code is simple just a call to the explorer.exe with /root,\UNCPath. After installing IE 8 onto the machine this no longer works. Best I can tell the code is still working but now being executed in non interactive mode so nothing opens up. You can however see a new spawned explorer.exe running under the system account for each attempt at opening a UNC Path. Any ideas what IE8 could have done to cause this behavior?

I have a Access program and I'm using VBA code in the background to run Winunzip using shell command. Well, the path of the .zip file has spaces in it and it's not recongizing the path as a valid path. Is there a another way to tackle this problem besides the shell?I can't us pkzip either. The path starts at the top left corner and finishes back at the top left corner, the dots are evenly placed along the path, except the final dots at the end of the path. (Sometimes the dots are even and other times they are not even).The shapes I want to draw can be any size and any shape, but I have used a square in this example to show the problem I have. point me in the direction I need to go that allows me to draw the dots and give the impression that they are even all along the path, for all shapes and sizes.
In the pictures below if you change the size of the shape, one will have even looking dots, the other will not.

I am trying to read and display a file using MapPath as follows :

This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.
I'm using acrobat that returns unix paths instead of windows path's. So im wondering if there is a way in vb.net to convert the path to windows path.

i get this error "Illegal character in path" when checking for a folder to see if it exists.

Well now i have an issue which is pointing in the use of "path's" physical and network.I have a SQL server on a Server machine and i have a desktop machine used as client.I'm runing from my client machine a stored procedure in order to add a streaming data base.But also before i run this procedure i run another one which prepare the desired "path", this procedure takes:
myPath="\ServerSharedFolderSQL
in order to run the first procedure i have to turn myPath in each physical name:
myPath="DriveLetter:PublicWorkFilesSQL"
Now my Issue is how i will have the physical path, which is build it on the server and which it's from very difficult (to imposible) to know it? Basically i need a function which will return me the physical path, which the implementation it's not knowing to me. My developing environment is vb.net 2010?

I thought the %AppData% should find the relative path. When I go 'Start|Run|%AppData% windows explorer takes me to that directory. I can not put the full path in, as the user is different on each client machine.

I heard that vista already contain the .net frame work so didnt installed .net frame work in machine. I checked in vista it shows .net frame work is in machine. I have an .exe application written in vb.net. When I make shortcuts to the application, say on desktop (or anywhere else) and then click on them I want to programatically get the path to that shortcut, ie. C:/Users/xxx/Desktop/shortcut.lnk.
I want this so I can store the pairs shortcuts : (program + different cmd args).
I'm just trying to move my folder from one path to another path.The coding seems like it has moved it but the folder is not appearing in my destination path?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to write a Windows Script that will allow me to monitor the following: That 2 x seperate but specific processes within Component Services "Running Processes" list are currently running and have not reset within the past hour. If I already know the PID, then I can retrieve the CreationDate (I assume which I can use to check for restarts? or is this the actual process creation/installation date) for each specific process, however if a restart occurs the PID will change and my script needs to know what the new PID is without me telling it!
