Apr 15, 2009At present I am trying to publish a program which I changed an IP address in but it is bringing me back two errors which are as follows:
TRIM IS NOT A MEMBER OF SYSTEM.NET.MAILADDRESS
and
DATABASECREATIONSCRIPTS IS NOT A MEMBER OF RESOURCES
What I cannot understand is why these errors are appearing as this program has been published before (not by myself) and is working correctly.All I have changed is the IP address which the program connects to in several different places. No hardcoding has been changed.

Apr 1, 2010I'm having some trouble compiling some VB code I wrote to split a string based on a set of predefined delimeters (comma, semicolon, colon, etc). I have successfully written some code that can be loaded inside a custom VB component (I place this code inside a VB.NET component in a plug-in called Grasshopper) and everything works fine. For instance, let's say my incoming string is "123,456". When I feed this string into the VB code I wrote, I get a new list where the first value is "123" and the second value is "456".However, I have been trying to compile this code into it's own class so I can load it inside Grasshopper separately from the standard VB component. When I try to compile this code, it isn't separating the string into a new list with two values. Instead, I get a message that says "System.String []". String.Split Method - The Error Is Occuring Only At Run-time?

Split(ParamArray separator() As Char, count As Integer) As String()
However, when I use this
Dim tokens() As String = e.Node.Text.Split(New Char() {":"c}, 2)
I'm getting the ArgumentException (Illegal enum value: 2)
I tried using named arguments with no effect:
Dim tokens() As String = e.Node.Text.Split(New Char() {":"c}, count:=2)
Using this overload didn't weed out the error either:
Dim tokens() As String = e.Node.Text.Split(New Char() {":"c}, count:=2, options:=StringSplitOptions.None)
The error is occuring only at run-time. Intellisense swallows it without problem.
Project Split Across Drive / Flash Device Error
Mar 28, 2012I have a small project that contains three forms. The problem is that one of the forms is on a USB flash memory device(by accident)...the project works with USB flash memory device connected. I want to move the form from flash into the project on c: drive. However i think the project file (?) may keep the original path to the form and it still looks for it. The form in question has an icon which contains an arrow (is this indicating its else where?)

Feb 10, 2009i have a form with 12 text boxes. I'm trying to get the data from those text boxes to "save", and when that form is opened again have the data be inserted back. This form has different time slots so I need to be able to have it save and repopulate based on what time slot I am clicking on. I was going to have it read the data by splitting it with commas, then inserting them back into the correct fields but it's not working. I had it write the results to a text file and they get written correctly and inserted back, but the problem with that is it only reads that text file so every time slot I open up gets the same data. Below is code I used to get the data when the Save button is clicked. [Code]
Problem is I get an error saying "Char values cannot be converted to Integers" on the first line, the (","c) part. Plus even then I don't know if this would do what I want. EDIT: Ok I fixed the error and got it kind of working, but now I have a new question. Now, I put a button on the form that I can use to load the data when I choose to just to test. This works, it takes the data from each time slot and loads it back when I click the button. New question is how can I get it to load as soon as I open the existing appointment? Putting it in the form load event won't work because it checks for data before there is any in there.

Create A Split Container With A Three Way Split?
Mar 1, 2012I would like to create a split container with a three way split. The first split is a vertical split. The second is creating a horizontal split within panel2 of the first split container. panel1 will hold a treeview control the other two panels will hold listview controls
I think this question has been asked already in a couple different ways and I've reviewed those posts and I've tried to do what was suggested but it doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried to place a second split container inside panel2 of the first split containter. This gave me what appeared to be a three way vertical split.

Can't Seem To Use String.Trim()
Jul 12, 2010I'm working with this new API that returns some XML. The problem is that the developer has chosen to indent his returned XML and it's driving me nuts. So, I thought I'd just trim it and then use it that way. But it's not working. here is what I'm getting back from the API:

The code, of course, comes back in a StreamReader object called reader. So my plan is to write the UNTABBED XML to a text file. I thought this would work:
dim output as String = reader.ReadToEnd()
dim xml as String
'open the file in a try/catch statment. Won't include that here

'Now, we're going to remove whitespace using String.Trim() and write it to a file:
xml = output.Trim()
Then I close the file and move on. The problem is that the String.Trim command isn't working! When I open the file, the indentations ARE STILL THERE and it's throwing everything off.

Can't Split String With Space Character Using Split(" "c)

The split function works for other characters I see in the string. I suspect the characters may be a non breaking space character but I've been unable to split on them. e.g - 6125223659587412563265... till 102
numbers that compare with this string-
first set - 61

and so on. the set of numbers shall go to maximum of 51 pairs = 102, which shall give an end result of string = "" How can i achieve this in a loop?
this is not answer, this is editing the question. i dont know why but the edit button just vaniashed so i have to edit question here. No duplicates will ever be in this string. and in the end when compares are done, i want to see what numbers are left in pairs.

Oct 29, 2010I'm writing a simple application in vb.net and need to output some information to a log file for diagnostic purposes.In order to ensure that the log file doesn't get too big, I need to trim it to a certain number of lines (say 5000). For performance reasons, the trimming doesn't have to occur each time a log entry is written out nor is it critical that trimming occurs (for example, if the application crashes prematurely).
However I'm not really sure the best way to trim it. Loading the entire log into memory and then re-writing only the last 5000 lines back out would work, but I'm sure there is a cleaner and better way to do this.
