So, I have created this program and I want it to save the items that can be added into the list box with the My.Settings codes.(So every time I open the program the items will be there)

1. How can i save the treeview items, to settings (my.settings.history)
2. How can i save the treeview items as an TXT or XML file or another exception.
How can I store the items in a context menu strip in the Settings so they are in the context menu when the application is next started?
Or is there a better way than using settings? (they are recently opened files in the cms)

This is to load them on startup:

I created a form and a checkbox with default name in visual basic 2008 as i move mouse wheel, i can choose a picture for background image i can also change the checkbox's forecolor when i press any key on the keyboard and my first problem is i want to save the new background image which i has already chosen as i close my form and so does the checkbox's forecolor,move the checkbox to wherever i like and save this setting?

View 15 RepliesI've got a problem, I'm making a program that gives you the choice to add items to a listbox, these items are text. When the form loads, i need it to load text from a file into a listbox. For every line I need it to add that text to the listbox. My problem is when it loads, there's an extra line, but that's only after I close the form and open it again. The reason it happens when the form unloads is because the listbox items are saved on form unload. Now, I believe the problem is my code to save the items:

I thought that was simple enough, but when I clear the selected items in the listbox, my collections (items, indices) change. I found this out by stepping through the code.

I am making some kind of calendar where I can add tasks, so I can easily organise my tasks. For it to complete, I have 3 things I can't figure out how to do it:
1. When I launch the program, I want the items in my listbox to be sorted alphabeticly.
2. I want to save the items in the listbox, so if I close the program and reopen it the items are still saved in the listbox.
3. The items in the listbox all start with a date, fe. "13-4" for today. If that date already passed I want that item to be deleted.
I am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

It seems implied you cannot create new user settings.subobjects at runtime. I'm looking to find the easiest way to save a populated array of PictureBox's. View 2 RepliesI store three items in My.Settings. One is a serialized string, and the other two are GUIDs. When the main form starts, those three items are loaded into various places. On rare, and so far unpredictable, occasions, one of these GUIDs is notably absent. The others may or may not be, I have yet to be able to check. Since it happens so infrequently (twice this month, though I have been working on the code every day), I'm having a very hard time tracking down the problem. However, it got me wondering where these values are stored. I see one of them showing up in App.Config, though without a value. Is there a place I can see the others?
