I added a setting in my.settings, the setting is a listbox, and I know you can put controls in a listbox, but for some reason it will not let me add a toolstripmenuitem to the listbox in my settings. Is there a fix to this?

I thought that was simple enough, but when I clear the selected items in the listbox, my collections (items, indices) change. I found this out by stepping through the code.
Basically what I'm wanting to do is move items in the listbox up or down (up in this case), and still keep them selected.

I am making some kind of calendar where I can add tasks, so I can easily organise my tasks. For it to complete, I have 3 things I can't figure out how to do it:
1. When I launch the program, I want the items in my listbox to be sorted alphabeticly.
2. I want to save the items in the listbox, so if I close the program and reopen it the items are still saved in the listbox.
3. The items in the listbox all start with a date, fe. "13-4" for today. If that date already passed I want that item to be deleted.
I have a ListBox1, a Button1 and a DataGridView1 How can I achieve, than everytime I push the Button1, the items from ListBox1 will also reveal in the DataGridViewComboBoxColumn's dropdown menu.... I'm using Visual Studio 2010.

However the AndAlso should short circuit in the case where the item is not a ToolStripMenuItem and it doesn't seem to be doing so (as TypeOf xItem Is ToolStripMenuItem=false in this case)?

When the form loads, i need it to load text from a file into a listbox. For every line I need it to add that text to the listbox. My problem is when it loads, there's an extra line, but that's only after I close the form and open it again. I gather MATTER NUMBER and PATENT NUMBERS in a listbox on a dialog form - that I pass to the main form after the dialog closes.I then ask for CASES on subsequent dialog forms and want to have drop downs for MATTER NUMBER and PATENT NUMBERS that "have the suggestions" of what was entered in those list boxes earlier.So - I've been using DATASOURCE for binding to datatables and thought to myself - heh - I can probably set the DATASOURCE of the DROPDOWNS - and it works!

I want the user to be able to enter a new value OR just pick a previous value from the dropdown list. (This is when inserting a new row)
Problem:
Whenever I enter a value, it jumps around in my table like its on acid or something. Whenever I select a value from the list, it takes me to the line in which the value was originally entered.
How do I get it to do what I want.
I need to load a large txt file that is in a fixed width format. There are over 45K lines, so speed is important.I need to load one of the fields into a dropdown box and have another field (label) display the text of another field in the related line.I could import the file to an access db if needed, but would rather not as i also want the txt file to update from a link on a regular bases. View 1 RepliesI am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

I would like someone to show me how you would save the contents of "Listbox1" to a .txt file using the "Save As" Option. I know how to hardcode a savepoint in, but since there will be multiple users I would like the option to be up to the end-user.
