Update New Data With The Previous Data If The New Data Equal To 0?
Sep 11, 2010I am having an issue on the listbox when the new data value equal to previous data then = to "0". However, I want if the new data value( A ) is equal to the previous data( B ) then ( A ) equal to ( B ).

My problem is when the new data comes out from the API, if it is equal to the previous data and it will appear 0. But what i want is the new data comes out is 0 and it will equal to previous data. e.g: first data comes out is 12.00, in above case, if the second data comes out is 12.00 but it will shows 0 which means unchanged. But in my case now, i want if the first data come out is 12.00, then if the next data is unchanged (0) and it will appear 12.00 and so on.

Dec 22, 2010I typed this question once already, hit preview, and somehow never got the preview and lost what I typed. It has been that kind of a day.So here is my quick overview then I am going shopping. I am using OLE DB to select from an excel spreadsheet. It has over 15000 rows and 33 columns. Sometimes even when a cell is not null, it is returning a null value. If I just do a "select * where [termination date] is not null", for example, it will return no rows even though I can see with my own eyes that sometimes termination date is not null.

If checkbox1 is checked then case would be equal to "this".
If checkbox2 is checked then case would = "that"
Example of something I tried to cook up but didn't work because it tells me that I can't only use this in a "select case".

May 29, 2012I'm trying to pass some parameters into a data annotation, and it is rejecting my named parameter. It's the same exact syntax in Microsoft's documentation for the TableAttribute, except in the documentation they have an uppercase N, but intellisense on the parameter in VS asks for a lower case n. It looks like the constructor was updated, but the tooltip wasn't, because this is what shows up when you get the syntax prompt: And I needed to be able to specify schema. But now I've found another way to do this. Why I was trying named parameters in the first place; because this wasn't working. Apparently I missed trying this syntax, which works.

Setting Parameter Values To Equal DataColumn Values?
Apr 23, 2011I'm trying to assign some parameters for a stored procedure with some values that are stored in a data table. in the code, I can set the parameter values to the data table, and give a column header or index without issue, but when it tries to execute at runtime it bombs out.the error I get is a variation on "Failed to Convert Parameter Value from a DataColumn to a String" depending on exactly how I try to assign the value.the data types are all correct elsewhere in the code.
my code for this bit is

other things I've tried to get this to work are all variations on the .Value=dates bit, such as
.Value=dates(0) (so using column index)
.Value=dates.columns(0) (again using column index)
I've also tried declaring variables, and setting their values to the values in the columns, but the code returns an error saying that "Value of type 'System.Data.DataColumn' cannot be converted to string".I should point out that i'm doing this for 3 tables at once in this sub, 2 of them will only have a single row of data, but the third has an indeterminate number of rows.I'm afraid I don't know what else to do. I'm lead to believe by my mate and my lecturer that this should work, and of course it will work, but the evidence says otherwise.

Data Table Only Partially Updates (Parameter Related)?
Jan 25, 2012I have a data table that I am updating. The table has 5 rows.The first row in the data table that has an ID of 1 will not update with new values, but the rest of the data table does update, I can't figure out why.

Jan 15, 2010I'm trying to serialize a data structure and pass it to another report via parameter, and this line of code:

Produces this error:
An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report '/myReport' is invalid. There is an error on line 22 of custom code: [BC30002] Type 'System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer' is not defined.
How can I get around this? I have been able to use fully defined .NET classes in other lines of code, including the following:

Parameter Update Reports 1 Row Updated But No Data In Table Added
Oct 13, 2011I am getting an incorrect repsonse after an update to a table. In my RowUpdating event I have the following code which builds an Update Parameter to call an SP to update a table. I must be doing something wrong but everything runs fine. My rowsAffected variable reports 1 after the update, but the table never gets the data.[code]I found a solution that is working. On the original DataSource for the update command I needed to add the following.[code]This in essence allows the original data source to call the SP. Note: that the command type needs to stay as TEXT not Stored Procedure as one might think.
