I have an app that is called from a database which has an access shell. The access shell prompts a message box to the user. When before the application closes I would like to select the ok on the message box? How would I in code select the message box from an access shell in vb.net?
I'm going to attempt to make a shell replacement for the Windows default shell: explorer.exe. I'm not sure if its possible using Vb.Net, but I can't seem why not. My end goal is to use a custom made shell for a Windows Preinstallation Environment instead of the default command prompt. I plan to use a 3rd party program to compile the program with the .NET Framework. Otherwise, it wouldn't work because Windows PE does not support the .NET Framework.
I got a SQL statement where am selecting from an access database in vb but I get this error; "syntax error in query expression select sum(brought_qtty)" when I run my program. I imagine am doing the right thing but seems am not. How can I adjust this select? The code is below:
"select distinct(brought_price) as [Price], select sum(brought_qtty) as [Ordinary] from brought_coffee where " & _"coffee_grade=O, select sum(brought_qtty) as [Premium] from brought_coffee where" & _"coffee_grade=P, sum(brought_qtty) as [Total Qtty]" & _", sum(brought_paid) as [paid], " & _"sum(brought_bal) as [Balance]" & _"from brought_coffee, farmer where brought_date=#" & dtc.Text.Trim & "# and farmer_centre='" & cc.Text.Trim & _"' and farmer.farmer_num=brought_coffee.farmer_num"
I have a form like that: What I need to do is when the user selects item1 from combobox a message will be displayed in listbox. My combobox has 11 items so I must have 11 appropiate messages to be stored automatically in listbox . (The message is appropriate of what item is selected from the combobox)
Here is the full code implemented : Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectedIndexChanged Dim msg1, msg2, msg3, msg4, msg5, msg6, msg7, msg8, msg9, msg10, msg11 As String If ComboBox1.SelectedValue = "Item1" Then msg1 = "Ati ales item1 din combobox" [Code] .....
I'm trying to use the Shell to have my application call an external application but its not working...I don't understand why. I get the following error: 'System.windows.shell' is a namespace and cannot be used as an expression!
Heres my code....any ideas what I'm doing wrong. Its got to be a simple...stupid error.
Private Sub mnuUpgrade_Click(ByVal Ctrl As Microsoft.Expression.Web.Interop.Legacy.CommandBarButton, ByRef CancelDefault As Boolean) Handles mnuUpgrade.Click
I am having trouble saving the contents of 'ex.message' to my access database. The field type is memo. If i change myerror to ="this is an error" it works fine, so i know it is nothing to do with the connection but to do with the contents of ex.message During debug I get an oledbEception was unhandled:
syntax error (missing operator)in query - "could not find directory'C:\hh'.".
The above is the correct message i would expect to see in the database.
Catch ex As Exception myerror = ex.Message.ToString dbConn.Open()
I have just downloaded Visual Basic Express 2008 and am trying to create a new database file called Genealogy_Filing_System using mssql compact edition 3.5. When I try to create the file I get the message Unable to acces file Genealogy_Filing_System.sdf.
I am getting the error "The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine." in the connection string when opening a connection to an Access database.
My Application ( Vb.Net) is to scan Access DB forms and find out the Activx control if present and it works fine. But my problem is.In some DBs we have tables with mapping path to specific locations (Table Property->Linked Table Manager) and when we relocate these DBs then we need to change the path manually otherwise it will show a message to re-link ( Access DB message) while opening the DB. And I am facing same problem while scanning through my Tool as well and my process stops, continue only by manual intervention.
Do I capture the massage event and send some user specific message to user in the Log file or Report and continue scanning further?
In trying to open an access dataset I first click on add new connection and at the prompt enter a microsoft access database file. I click on test the connection and it says the connection is working. I click the next button and get the following error message: Format of initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0.
I get the error message: "Format of initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0" What does this mean and how can I get the database to open in vb express 2008?
My pc is a Vista SP1 + VS2008 I try to import a csv file into an existing access database with the following code but I have the message that the database is only in read access and I can't update it with the csv file.I tested the code on an other pc with XP and VS2005 and it works.
I am tryin to access a 2003 Microsoft Access Database using VB in an OleDb format. The database file name is Billings.mdb and there are 3 tables in the file the one I am trying to access is tbl Clients. When debugging the program I continue to get an Unhandled error point to the FROM part of the SELECT statement. It continues to occur regardless of my attempts to vary the input.
In the program my connection statement is as follows:
Dim connectionString As String = "Provider = Microsoft.Jet.OleDb.4.0; Data Source = C:Documents and SettingsTrialsBillings.mdb"
The Select statement is as follows:
Dim selectStatement As String = "SELECT ID, ..., PB " & "FROM tbl_Clients " & "WHERE ID = ?sngID"
Actually, I want to be able to select a date (example, 2/10/2010-) and it add it to the textbox, then select another date(example,3/28/2010) from the same datetimepicker and it appends it to the textbox.(It will be like this on the final click, 2/10/2010-3/28/2010 and save it to the Access database).

I have a VB6 application that is accessing an sql server 2008 database using odbc. The application also accesses an ACCESS database. How can I create a temporary table in my ACCESS database using a table from the SQL database. I have tried the following:
SELECT GLTransaction.* INTO TempAPEntry0 In C:DOCUME~1DONNPS~1.000LOCALS~1TempCSAReport2564.MDB FROM GLTransaction WHERE GLTRSource = 641;
I have a form with a list box The code loops through a Tables' row and gives me only one of each of the catergories. If more than one of a perticular item exist it only displays one. i would like to use Select Distinct instead just because it would cut down on the time it would take to read the Rows items and still give me the same results I just am not sure how to write it.
i want to allow user to select or find access database file when the software is executed/opened for the first time. after user selects the file and as he clicks open the software shows the full path of the file and then stores it with the provider and datasource in a txt file for future use.
I am trying to replace tasks.IndexOf(t) + 1 with something a little simpler. Is there any built in functionality for this? Hrmm xml literals do not seem to translate well on here....
I am using VB 2008 Express to connect to an Access 2007 database. I have a combo box called SelectYearMonth that is populated by the database. When I used the Access report VBA, I used the AfterUpdate() event to calculate a sum. I need to know how to do the same operation in VB 2008 Express using the SelectedIndexChanged event of the combo box.
When I made a report in Access using VBA I coded my calculation as: Me.ExactReprintTextbox = DSum("Pages", "HBELP_FINAL_Q", "YEARMONTH = " & [SelectYearMonth] & " AND JOBTYPE = 'E'") While this works great with Access VBA, this syntax does not work in VB 2008 Express. How do I code this in VB 2008 Express?
I need to calculate the sum of all "Pages" of a particular "JOBTYPE" in the Access database for the YEARMONTH selected in the combobox. I have a query in Access called "JobTypeExact_Query" that contains all the pages of that particular JOBTYPE that I need. What I need to do is limit the calculation results to the YEARMONTH selected in the combobox.
im trying to select a specific bit of data from a table in access using sql in vb.net. I'm trying to do a simple select query from a MS access database from my service. Has anyone managed to do this in the past using their Jet eninge?
I had originally debugged and tested the code in a windows form and it worked fine. Once I moved the code into a windows service and installed it, it bombs out and doesn't generate any errors.
Thing is, I just found a .mdb file on the net so not entirely sure of the database version. I'm running office 2007 and read that if you used the .accdb version on a machine that didn't have access 2007 installed (which is going to be 99% likely), you had to install some drivers etc. in order for it to work. That is not an option unfortunately which is why I went with the old .mdb that could use Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 without any drivers to be installed.
Do I need to import something into this project to get this to work? I've attached the code below. I've added a comment after the problematic line.
Dim con As New OleDb.OleDbConnection Dim dbProvider As String Dim dbSource As String
