I am having trouble saving the contents of 'ex.message' to my access database. The field type is memo. If i change myerror to ="this is an error" it works fine, so i know it is nothing to do with the connection but to do with the contents of ex.message During debug I get an oledbEception was unhandled:
syntax error (missing operator)in query - "could not find directory'C:\hh'.".
The above is the correct message i would expect to see in the database.
Catch ex As Exception
myerror = ex.Message.ToString
dbConn.Open()

But my problem is.In some DBs we have tables with mapping path to specific locations (Table Property->Linked Table Manager) and when we relocate these DBs then we need to change the path manually otherwise it will show a message to re-link ( Access DB message) while opening the DB. And I am facing same problem while scanning through my Tool as well and my process stops, continue only by manual intervention.
Do I capture the massage event and send some user specific message to user in the Log file or Report and continue scanning further?

I'm using Visual Basic/Studio 2010 Express to run my VB program using MS Access database. I'm going to convert the Access database to a SQL Server Server Express data base so I downloaded SQL Server 2008 R2 Express onto my pc with Windows 7. The installation went fine and I actually converted my Access database to SQL server. I did not change anything in my VB program.My problem: When I run my normal program with the Access database (no changes), I now get an error when it executes the following code:

View 1 RepliesI am using Visual Studio 2005 for coding. I am doing an exercise where I have to create a data lookup program. The program is to illustrate the concepts of using a database to look up information based on user input. The program allows a user to input two search criteria for a product search. The program then displays each individual search result, or record that meets the search criteria in a message box. I am not getting the message box and I don't know why. No errors are present during compiling so I have no indication as to where the problem is.

I'm making a simple decoder. Type a message in the "message" text box and it spits out a code in the "code" text box. If you pop a code into the "code" text box it spits out the message in the "message" text box. Seems simple, right? Well here's my problem. I typed "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" to test it and it will put a lowercase "f" at the beginning, put letters that aren't supposed to be in there in there, and replace what should be upper case letters with lower case. I commented out the code for replacing symbols because it seemed to work fine before I put them in the code but still the same result. I checked over the code to see if I mixed stuff up. Like I accidentally put the replacement for a lower case "e" as the replacement for a lower case "h" but I can't find anything.

I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?

I am writing a very simple program that connects to a accdb file (Microsoft Access 2007 file) and returns some results in a datagridview. Everything is fine. Now because we have to deploy this program in many computers i publish it so everyone we want can install it and have updates. What i wanted to do is to make the database file part of the program which i did it by adding it to the resources. My problem is that i do not know what connection string to enter in order to access it in my resources.
My previous connectionstring before i deploy it was this
ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:l.accdb;Persist Security Info=True
What should i change in the data source in order to access the same file in my resources?
