Automate Access Error - Open Up An Access Database ?
Mar 16, 2011
(using VB2008) I am trying to automate Access from VB.Net. To do this, I added two libraries to my project, Microsoft.Office Interop.Access v12.0.0.0, and dao v10.0.4504.0. This seems to give me all the necessary commands, yet when I tried to open up an Access database via the following code:
I have an application that has an Ms Access 2007 DataBase which runns great if access is installed. Is there any code that I can use in vb that I would be able to run access with out installing it.
with two fields each and write the results to a third Access database as part of a data mining program with finance applications. Here is the code in question:
Imports System.Data.OleDb Partial Class Form1 Dim DMDatabase01 As OleDbConnection = New
i use this command to open my ms access database file, but it is not working, what is the problem.... i learn this command from internet tutorials. [code]
I want to open an accessdatabase in vb.net with a click of a button.I found this example code at the microsoft site.[code]I've added it to my project, but it gives an error that the type 'Access.application is not defined'.
A. A Visual Basic program is developed to read a text file to Access 2003 database using the Data Access Objects (DAO). The following is the DAO command:
Set db = DAO.DBEngine(0).OpenDatabase("C:TempMyAccess2003.mdb")
B. The office Access 2003 database (*.mdb) is going to be upgraded to Access 2007 database (*.accdb).
C. The Visual Basic program is revised to read the same text file to Access 2007 database using the same Data Access Objects (DAO), The following is the DAO command:
Set db = DAO.DBEngine(0).OpenDatabase("C:TempMyAccess2007.accdb")
D. The following error message occurs when the revised Visual Basic program is executed:
I had previously used VB6; I am now using VS2008; What is the best manner to now open the database using the VB code? The code works with the Access 2003 database.
I'm creating a database backup function into by program which will allow the user to locally backup a database to the selected folder. How do I go about doing this? I realise you cant copy an open database, but I cant think of any other way to do it.
I am trying to open an Access file but so far I am not succeeding. [Code] I receive following error: Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user. I am sure the file is not open and I tried already to add in the connection string: ;User ID=User and / or Jet OLEDB:System database=C:SYSTEM.MDW; at the and but without result.

I am new to this and have almost 0 programming knowledge. I want to automate transferring data from excel spreadsheet to access. i surfed around on the net to see if there were examples of codes that i can copy.this is what i currently have.
In trying to open an access dataset I first click on add new connection and at the prompt enter a microsoft access database file. I click on test the connection and it says the connection is working. I click the next button and get the following error message: Format of initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0.
I have an app with a password protected MS access database connected to it. lets say the password is "123". when I run my app i get an error saying that the password is incorrect even thought its not.i have been readig around but am strugling to find a solution.
I can't open an Access database on a mapped drive. However it works if I use the UNC path. how I can get this to work? See the code below for an example of what works and what doesn't...
Code: mConnString = "provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=\tiger-2000dvb_mt7MTrackBE.mdb" ' This works mConnString = "provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=T:vb_mt7MTrackBE.mdb" ' this does not work Dim objConn As New OleDbConnection(mConnString)
[code].....
The error message I receive is...'T:vb_mt7MTrackBE.mdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.I've done the obvious and verified that t:vb_mt7MtrackBE.mdb is a valid path.
I've been working on an application for awhile that, basically, allows the viewing and printing of a maintenance database. It allows the user to view basic information for the object and then view the maintenance history. My approach for the maintenance history is simply to have unique tables per object since a history has to be kept for each, however, I'm running into a problem in the application that allows the user to view the general information from one DB and the Maintenance history from the other DB.
Say you have Object ID BG1. I can enter the object ID into a search field, pull the data from the general DB and display the data, but I also need it to pull the information from the maintenance history and display. If maintenance history for this object is not found, then create a new table within the DB, fill the columns with the required fields and allow for the user to edit the history.
Open a Access database (protected with a password) in my application in Visual Basic 2008. I use Oledb connection to link my Application to the database. When my Access database is not protected with password my connection goes well, but I don't know how to set my password of my database in my application. I have "googled", but I can't find something that works for me. [code]----
I can save my data to access database and in the access database field I set it to date/time.But problem is when I get the value out from the database.. the format is always month/day/year hour:minutes:seconds example today: 5/2/2011 12:00:00..How to get the value into listview becoming May/2/2011 without the hour..Here's my code to get it from database ListView1.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dt.Rows(i)(14).ToString).The second problem is.When I would like to edit, how can the datetimepicker get the listview value ? [code] info: using access 2003 (.mdb) the Date of Birth field has been set into Date/Time.
I get the error message: "Format of initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0" What does this mean and how can I get the database to open in vb express 2008?
I have an access 2007 database that I have been developing a front end for in vb.NET for the past 3-4 weeks using vs2008 in a Windows 7 enviroment. Yesterday I started getting an error of "Your network access was interrupted. To continue close the database and then open it again." This happens in the Form Load on the line:
I can go into access 2007 and view all the data fine and in vs2008 I can view the server explorer and browse the tables. However, under data sources if I try and preview the data, I get the same error message as before. What confuses me the most is that the database is not stored on a server is just stored in My Documents. It was origionally stored on my desktop pc but has been copied to the My Documents on my laptop. But as I mentioned previously it has been working fine and has just all of a sudden started throwing this exception by my Try Catch routine. FYI I have tried creating a new DB and importing the tables from the old DB but this hasn't solved the problem either.
this is my code for adding users in my database but it has an error on the INSERT INTO statement.here is the error: Microsoft office access database engine: syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.
vb.net Private Sub Button6_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button6.Click Dim conn As New OleDbConnection(cn) Dim check As Integer
I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. Dieser Vorgang konnte nicht durchgefhrt werden, da der QueryInterface-Aufruf an die COM-Komponente fr die Schnittstelle mit der IID "{66B22FB4-F70E-4F03-A00A-F76E9ADBBF10}" aufgrund des folgenden Fehlers nicht durchgefhrt werden konnte: Schnittstelle nicht untersttzt (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
For all who can't read german:
"Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" can't be converted in to "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" ... Interface is not supported.
Code I use:
Dim access As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application = Nothing . . . access = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application()
[CODE]...
The Error occurs when I try to access any property of "access.Forms("frmTest")"
I am using VB .Net to connect to an access databse when using several connection sometimes i get this erro "unspecified error microsoft jet database engine" even though i am an administrator on my local machine.
I'm using the "Add New Data Source" wizard in Visual Studio 2008 to connect to an Access database ".accdb" but I keep getting an error message when I try to finish the wizard.... "Custom Tool Error: Failed to generate code. 0 is not a valid value for Int32. Input string was not in correct format." this is my first time working with VB in conjunction with MS Access.
