I am having an Activex Application (dll) which contains a third party control ie a Chart Control, as well as a Windows Application(.EXE). I am using that dll project in my exe application in order to populate the Activex user Control. If i double-click on the Activex Control, how can i pass an event handler from this dll Project to Windows application? If this event gets worked successfully, i have to load a screen from that windows application.
When the user clicks on the Activex Control, ie the Chart Control, is there any way to send a event handler from dll project to Windows Application?
I have a form with a list that shows information from a database. I want the list the update in run time (or almost real time) every time something changes in the database. These are the three ways I can think of to accomplish this:Set up a timer on the client to check every few seconds: I know how to do this now, but it would involve making and closing a new connection to the database hundreds of times an hour, regardless of whether there was any change Build something sort of like a TCP/IP chat server, and every time a program updates the database it would also send a message to the TCP/IP server, which in turn would send a message to the client's form: I have no idea how to do this right now Create a web service that returns the date and time of when the last time the table was changed, and the client would compare that time to the last time the client updated: I could figure out how to build a web service, but I don't how to do this without making a connection to the database anyway The second option doesn't seem like it would be very reliable, and the first seems like it would consume more resources than necessary. Is there some way to tell the client every time there is a change in the database without making a connection every few seconds, or is it not that big of a deal to make that many connections to a database?

I need to be able to send keycode keys.apps (windows context menu key) to an application. Surely if I can detect the keypress, there's a way to send the keypress, right?
What I'm doing is having a 3rd party app save a screenshot and the only way to have it do so is through its right click context menu.
I`ve been reading alot of tutorials on hwo to do this but i can never get it to work. I have a file named Book1, and I want to move it and call it "Book2".
There are .xls (Excell spreadsheet). Something is wrong with reciver when I open Book2 It says "System.Byte[]"
The test file "Book1" Has "Dog, Cat, Cow," In A1 A2 A3.
I think my byte conversion isn't working.
A tutorial said to use "Encoding.ascii.getstring(byte)" but Encoding is not delaired.

View 6 RepliesI'm successfully communicating string data to and from with a webserver using the System.Net.WebClient and the Upload method. Now I'd like to be able to upload files from my local app to this webserver. I get that it's probably very similar to what I'm doing with the string data, but I've not done anything with files that aren't ascii based so am hesitant as where to begin. I don't want to corrupt the file.

I am trying to write a code to save and open data that is in my application. My application contains hundreds of text boxes, combo boxes and labels. I have created an array for each set of data, i.e.,
glist(0).store=combobox1.value
glist(0).cat=combobox2.value
glist(0).it=label3.text
glist(0).quan=label4.text
glist(0).total=label5.text
up to glist(89).
Is there a way to write a code to loop through the array and save the values so that they can be opened at a later time in my application? The array will contain Doubles and Strings.
Not sure whether this is possible, but I'm creating a file encoding applcation. When a file is decoded, it is saved temporarily in a temp directory, after which it can be opened regularly. However, I actually need to be certain the file is removed as soon as the application that has opened it, has closed it (e.g. has shut down). Otherwise, the decoded (secret) file is just hanging in the temp directory without supervision.
