Send An Update To A Label Control During A Subroutine?
Mar 10, 2010
I want my code to do something that will require a bit of time. I want to be able to send an update to a label regarding the progress of the process during the length of the process, so that the user will know how far the progress has gone. Unfortunately, the label is only updated at the end of the process. I try to simulate it with a simple code below, where the label should be updated from 1 to 10, but it is only updated at 10, rather than 1, then 2, etc until 10. It does not help to show only the end!
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Me.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor
i want to select the row on datagridview and send it cell's value into textbox / label control on the same form..but it seems not work, but when i use
Private Sub DGV_CellClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles DGV.CellClick
it can but i have to choose by click on each cell on it datagridview..what i want is i only have to click on it[datagridview] row but i get all value on it's column.. so i can parse/send it value into textbox.it only can be clicked with single row i knew it by DataGridView1.SelectionMode = DataGridViewSelectionMode.FullRowSelect
My requirement is getting output from command window asynchonously in vb.net form, I am doing this with system diagnostic process and using addhandler. My problem is, I have separate class to execute process, after process start when control goes to a addhandler sub routine, it stops there only after it's execution(in addhandler subroutine), and never comes back where I am capturing output. Control should come to the line in below code - addInput = outputExe.ToString() so that I can captureoutput and go back to vb.net code behind.
code is as below
Public Class RunExe Private Function ExecuteProcess() procInfo = New ProcessStartInfo procInfo.FileName = ExeFile

Private Sub WebBrowser1_DocumentCompleted(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs) Handles WebBrowser1.DocumentCompleted TextBox1.Text = "" TextBox1.Text = WebBrowser1.DocumentText Call baby() End Sub
I have a label printer (Argox 1000-x) and i want to print some datas on it. And this printer is connected to my computer via the COM1 port. I can open/write COM1. And when i send some data to printer through COM1, Label Printer's Ready Signal Led will be ON/OFF. But it does not print anything or any label..
I have been using vb6 for a while, I am following a tutorial by MS to develop a basic application and a simple task cannot be completed for whatever reasons! The tutorial asks to drag the label object from the toolbox and drop in the tab control container. Then, go to the label size property and adjust the size to some different dimansion. Basic stuff, right? It won't let me do it! After I enter the new dimensions (which by the way are not large or very small), the label size (both width and height) resets back to its original dimensions! I have the vb.net sp1 installed.
I am trying to send keys to a control on my form. But I am getting a NullReferenceException and I don't know why. The code is about as basic as it gets: [Code] The error reported is object reference not set to an instance of an object but Send is a shared method so doesn't need an instance. Strangely if I ignore the error it works fine and F4 is passed to the control. I know there was an issue with sendkeys and UAC but I thought this had been solved (I am using 4.0 framework).
I use this connection: Dim connetionString As String Dim cnn As SqlConnection connetionString = "Data Source='" & txtHost.Text & "';Initial Catalog='" & txtDatabase.Text & "';User ID='" & txtUser.Text & "';Password='" & txtSenha.Text & "'" cnn = New SqlConnection(connetionString) cnn.Open() cnn.Close() How I read to SQL using "SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY rand()", select a random column and send the value "User" and "Password" of this column to Label1 and Label2.
I am upgrading user control from vb6 to vb.net.In the vb6 application I am loading 3000 labels using a label control array.In vb.net I am doing same but it's taking too much time to load.In vb6 it's taking 1-2 seconds, but in vb.net it's taking 30-40 seconds for same work. Why does it take too much time in vb.net for same work?Code is given below, here Led is the label control array.
For l = 1 To 3000 Led.Load(ledCounter) ColLed.Add(Led(ledCounter))
Have a label on a form which I want to show run time status, and have a code module which stores some functions. How do I send text from code module functions to this label on form?
I'm trying to make a label control transparent over a Panel control.However by setting the background colour of the label to Transparent, it actually sees right through to the form itself, not the panel as intended.
As an example we use a panel with a background as white, we make the label transparent, however it gets the forms colour as blue.However, we are using a custom panel control and need the label to be transparent over the panel and not see the forms background.
I am trying to learn Background worker and have written up a very simple app to understand this process. My form has a
textbox and a label. When the user clicks on the button, it updates the label with the value that they have entered into the textbox(I know this can be done elsewhere in the code besides the dowork event, I am just testing and learning). Please help..I am not sure what I am missing. The label does not update.
In my vb.net winform application, on click of start button the label1.text should be "process started" then some filesaving method will run after finish that method the label1.text should change to "file saved".
Private Sub btnStart_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnStart.Click lblStatus.ForeColor = Color.Red lblStatus.Text = "Saving to File"
[code]....
the initial status of label "saving to file" is not comingup. after the Trigger method finished, the status of the label is changing to "File saved"

I've been having this problem with my program hanging up sometimes. I tracked the problem down to the following statement:
me.lblPrompt.Text = strInfoToDisplay
So I checked strInfoToDisplay and sure enough it had in there what I thought it would. So then I checked lblPrompt. I'm using the command window and just using? me.lblPrompt.Text to get the system to tell the the value. Well, guess what it does? It hangs up. I haven't been able to get the command window to tell me one time what's going on. However, I know it has to work sometimes becuase the program (from the user standpoint) doesn't always freeze up the way it does when I can't read the prompt.
So, I'm working on a simple game in Visual Basic, and I have 2 labels. One named "pointsLbl" and one named "pointsleftLbl":
pointsLbl.Text = "Points: " & points
pointsleftLbl.Text = "Points left: " & pointsleft I also have two integers, one named "points" and one named "pointsleft". The problem I'm having is that when the point boost button is pressed, the labels don't update and also don't show the new points and new points left. Private Sub boostBtn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles boostBtn.Click
I'm trying to update a label to indicate how many items in a CheckedListBox are checked. Here is the code I'm using:
Private Sub CheckedListBox1_ItemCheck(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles CheckedListBox1.ItemCheck Me.Label1.Text = "(" & Me.CheckedListBox1.CheckedItems.Count.ToString & ") of (" & Me.CheckedListBox1.Items.Count.ToString & ") Items Checked" End Sub
It should say "(x) of (y) Items Checked" each time an item is checked or unchecked, but it's not updating the label properly, the count is always off by 1.
I have a Windows Form1 with label and i want to update the Form label text from the class file. I can able to get the Form1 controls from the class file but it is not updating the value in the Form. VB.net
Below is the Form1: Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
