Set +ve Y Coordinates In A Windows Form Using TranslateTransform?

May 8, 2009

I am using visual basic 2008 express edition.I need to draw some simple drawings (Graphics) in a form. Because visual basic origins starts from the top left corner, I need to set the origins of my drawings using 'TranslateTransform' to be on another place (User defined). This could be achieved easily with this statement:

G.TranslateTransform (X ,Y)

This sets the new origins to the coordinates in the form. The +ve X coordinates set the graphic from left to right and +ve Y coordinates set to be from top to bottom of the form (As shown below).

Set Coordinates For Each Beam At Intervals Of 610 Then Write That Coordinates System To A Text Based *.SCR File

Dec 2, 2010

I am trying to build a coordinates system but am having trouble with how to.. What I have sofar is a textbox that allows the user to enter a length. This length is user defined but never smaller then 610 in length since this is the minimum unit size we use to build timber frames. The overall length of a timber frame is infinite (well not really, but it is for what I want) the timber frame has beams every 610mm set apart from each other (this is a legal requirement) so I want my vb.net to set coordinates for each beam at intervals of 610 then write that coordinates system to a text based *.SCR file

If e.X > 48 AndAlso e.X < 50 AndAlso e.Y > 397 AndAlso e.Y < 399 Then
MessageBox.Show("about 0,0")

Using TranslateTransform And RotateTransform

Mar 3, 2011

I am trying to create a graph with a (possibly multiline) caption for the Y axis printed in a vertical orientation using TranslateTransform and RotateTransform.I am having no success and have no idea what I am doing wrong. The program is over 11,000 lines and so I am including what I think are the relevant bits of code below. The program is being written in Visual Basic 2008.I consider myself to be at an elementary level in Visual Basic.[code]And from there I can paste it into my document. The caption for the Y axis is there, but it is not translated or rotated.

Rotate Lines Using RotateTransform And TranslateTransform?

Mar 27, 2012

What I've got are a series of lines with segments. For example, I might have a line which is normally going from (100,100) to (100,200). This line also has segments in it (drawn over the top in a different colour) going from (100,110) to (100,120); (100,120) to (100,150) and (100,150) to (100,190).Now I might need to rotate this line at a certain angle - say 16 degrees around the top point (100,100). I need both the line and the segments rotated.

Interface And Graphics - TranslateTransform Sub Give Double Images

Dec 21, 2009

I've got a picturebox on my form which is supposed to hold a compass. I've created the compass with DrawEllipse, then I used a translatetransform() to move the origin to the center of the picture box:
[Code]
The problem is that it creates two images, one is correctly displayed of a compass with red tick marks, but the same image is displayed over it and is offset at the new origin (midx, midy). I tried using the prepend and append overload for the translatetransform sub but it didn't make a difference. I thought everything after the translatetransform would be set at the new origin, but it seems I'm creating the image twice, what am i doing wrong?

Coordinates - Control Relative To The FORM - "Control.Location DUH!!"

Nov 13, 2008

I have a control on a form - I need to know the coordinates of that control relative to the FORM.

Now before I get six replies saying, "Control.Location DUH!!" that only works when the control's parent IS the form. What if the control is nested inside one or more container controls?

Could I write a routine that crawls up all parent containers until I reach the form calculating each offset as I go? Sure! But this extremely crude operation seems clunky to me - What I'm looking for is something a little cleaner.

So far the closest I've been able to come is this:
Dim ClientPoint As Point = Ctrl.PointToScreen(Ctrl.Location)
Dim LocationLeft As Integer = (ClientPoint.X - Ctrl.ParentForm.Left) - Ctrl.Left
Dim LocationTop As Integer = (ClientPoint.Y - Ctrl.ParentForm.Top) - Ctrl.Top

The problem with the above code is: It does NOT take the Form's border or Titlebar into consideration... so this calculated location would be off slightly depending on what kind of border the form has.

Reference Windows Form Project From Another Windows Form Project In Same Solution

Dec 8, 2010

I have a solution with several projects most of which are code or control libraries. I have a main windows forms application that references and uses these libraries. What i am trying to do is create a 2nd windows application that extends the main one, but i would like to be able to deploy them as separate exe's.

When i try to add a reference to the new app referencing the main app; all seems fine until i try to run the new app i get several error msgs similar to below:

Error 1 Could not find file 'ADODB.dll' referenced by assembly 'D:Visual Studio 2005ProjectsXXXinDebugXXX.exe.manifest'. <newAppName>

i have tried adding references to all the dll's in the error messages and they are still listed when i try to run the new app. I thought of a few work arounds but they require user changes to maintain separate exe's at deployment. I would like to avoid this if possible.
