When I navigate to mywebsite.com/admin/, all I get is a directory listing. How can I get it to load up index.aspx automatically?
I just made my first .net website. I'm trying to use the following line of code to load a file from the current directory ( same diredtory all the web files are in). I get a error saying file does not exist
InstallFormTemp = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("installerform.html")
I copied the file to my c drive and chnage the line to
InstallFormTemp = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("c:installerform.html")
it worked, but now my site has to run a godaddy's webserver, so I cannot save stuff in the c drive, just my web directory.
How can I get My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText to read files from the websites current directory?
I have a directory with xml files inside, inside each xml file is the following data:
<Email>Abella@hiphopfan.com</Email>
<UserName>Abella1203810</UserName>
<PassWord>oxqzobbr23</PassWord>
I need to loop through each xml file in the directory and use the xml nodes <Email> & <PassWord> to programmaticly log into an account.

1. get the number of files in specified dir
2. add names of files as items in combobox (using a loop structure)
3. when an item is selected. display the contents in a textbox[code]...

I'm creating a simple .NET console application where I want to save a file in a folder that's part of the root project, like so: SolutionName.ProjectNameTestData. I want to put test.xml into the TestData folder. However, when I go to save my XDocument, it saves it to SolutionName.ProjectNameinx86Debug Console est.xml.

I am attempting to load all images from a directory to a FlowLayoutPanel. I am using the GetFiles() method to retrieve the files with a filter to just retrieve JPG files. When I run the program, it returns 'Conversion from string "*.jpg" to type 'Integer' is not valid.' exception. The offending line of code is:

When I build and then deploy the program (version1.0) how are the files that pre-exist on my drive end up available on the users drive to be able to load them from the specified directory? Do I need to make the .rtf files a resource? Or is this process simply "done" when user installs app? By the way, I am using Visual Studio 2008 (Visual Basic).

View 8 RepliesSo I open files and do whatever with them right. I've set the initial directory to equal the last directory, but whenever I open multiple files, it never sets the directories properly. It acts as though nothing was opened there, so it takes the previous directory as the last one. Thoughts on what's not working? Here's the code.

I have multiselect enabled earlier and everything else works but this. When you open a single file, the last directory works fine. It only happens with multiselect.On another note, does anyone know why it freezes when I try to do a lot of files and use another program? I opened 700+ files to see what would happen. When I switched to a IM convo, it froze. When I left it to run, it worked.

Before I begin I would like to mention that I am not a noob in VB, it's just I've never had to do anything this complex before. Basically what I want is to have a program that you can load a txt file in, have it copy key words, and paste it in a textbox so I can use it later on. If I build the solution on a machine that HAS a license for ActiveReport then everything is fine. If I build the solution on a machine that DOESN'T have a license for ActiveReport I get:

On the machine that DOESN'T have a license for ActiveReport if I remove the above lines from the license.licx file then everything builds fine. I always thought that if the license couldn't be found then the unlicensed version will be used but it wouldn't kill the build. How do I get this solution to build on any machine whether it has a license or doesn't?

I want my app to load a .exe file specified by the user, crypt it then save the crypted .exe file on a path also specified by the user. I need some guidance on this. First of all, I am currently using IO.filestream to store the .exe file. When I save the completed file (so far in development, that means a copy of the file as I haven't added encryption yet) the .exe file appear there alright, but without the icon (it has the standard/no icon instead) and it does not work. I tried outputting it to a .txt for examination and it was a bunch of tokens as one would expect. Here is the statements:

[VB 2008 express edition] i am doing a application data grid view bound data from MS access (.mdb) as my dataset. the dataset have 5 tables, each table consist of ID, Items, Rates, And Amount, i face some problem here:
a) cannot delete row from the table, (using binding navigator but error)
b) how can make a opendialog to load the .mdb file dataset table in to the datagridview?
c) how do i save table in the datagridview into the MS Access file ?
