Remotely Control A Graphical Program Through A Command Prompt
Jun 30, 2011I have created a VB.NET program using windows forms. The program runs on a remote PC and displays information on a screen. The computer does not even have a mouse or keyboard connected to it. The program shows the information based on the file that is loaded.I want to be able to change this file remotely to another file that is already on the remote PC. I can't use a graphical remote desktop client as we have very limited bandwidth.So, my idea is to change the file using the command prompt.I'm not sure how to do this. Should I use something like this and load DosModule first:[code]How would I then read commands that is send to the program? I also only want one instance of the program running.

Apr 7, 2010I am writing a app and I have a treeview. This treeview gets populated with parent and children. I also have a panel and a picturebox with a image in the picturebox. On top of the picturebox I and writing some Graphical objects.

When Afterselect on the treeview item this code runs. However when I select another child/node the code runs again whcih is great it write over the top on the previous text. What is the command or how do I clear/delete/remove the theG.drawStrings from the first AfterSelect from the treeview so the new drwstrings are clear.

In my memory, if i want to write text into binary file in C, when I set writing mode as binary, I will get a file in human-unreadable format, but in .net, I can't get that.

Oct 14, 2010i am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007. i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll When i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) but if i run directly .exe (go to bin elease doubleclick .exe) it give error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.

C# - Deploying App To Production Using Debug Mode Rather Than Release Mode?
Oct 28, 2010I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.

What is the best way to handle this?hould I:a) Create a global connection object using Global.asax, retrieving the connection string from web.config? What he wants to do is pass the object that has the error, and the type of that object, such a TextBox or ComboBox, and then call the DirectCast method within his handler to properly address the Text attribute within it. In general, the method is looking like this:

So far any attempts to do a type conversion within the DirectCast method (since it is expecting an object in the general signature) or to even pass in the a Type object properly set is not working.
Any ideas here, or is this one of those "Casting doesn't work that way." type scenarios?
