Near Object - 2 Panels - Run A Command When They Are A Minimum Of 30 Pixels Away From Each Other
May 11, 2011
I have 2 panels and what to run a command when they are a minimum of 30 pixels away from each other. Ive tried pnl1.intersectwith(pnl.bounds - 30) but doesnt work out
I'm trying to make a -what i thought would be simple app.My intention was to build program that:1) i'd provide a grayscale image2) the program would count the black pixels the grey pixels the more grey pixels etc. (the hue) and the white3) would make the percentage sum of all pixels, that is: 300.000 black pixels (rgb 0 0 0) etc. given that 0 is the black, 100 the white. e.g a simple grayscale image is 55.2 white
This was my way and i don't think that is useful:
First of a button to convert the image to greyscale:
Dim bm as new Bitmap(source.Width,source.Height)
Dim x
Dim y
[CODE]...
Secondly, -and that's the stupid way- i did -or better i wanted to do- this: i put the code to dynamically create labels, each label having the colour of a pixel as background colour and as text the colour converted to rgb
The third step which i intended to do (i couldn't get pas two) was to sum up the labels etc.
i mostly use C and assembly, but i thought i would give VB.NET a shot. i used to use VB6 all the time, so wanted to see how different this is. in VB2010, i'm trying to modify the pixels of a Bitmap object and then make it show up in a PictureBox on the form. i get no errors, but this code does not show the new bitmap after it runs.."disp" is the name of the PictureBox on the form.[code]
Pretty self-explanatory question. I'm trying to see if I can do sprite animation in Visual Basic and, while I can use a Graphics object to translate a bitmap down a few pixels, I have absolutely no idea how to erase the bitmap drawn in its former position. Is there any way to erase the old image before the new image is drawn onto the form?
I need to put the date and time in the status bar.In the first panel I have the version of the program and in the second I would like to show todays date in it.The properties page does not have an option to add date, I can add Icons and text but is there a way to add date and time?
I'm trying to make custom ListBox with some graphics. Base is ItemCollection - each item contains Panel, 2x label and 2x picturebox. What each panel have to do:
- Change backcolor on MouseEnter and set color back when MouseLeave occurs. - On MouseDown(LMB) - Panel stays "selected" - different color.
Problem: I can't access multiple panels at a time(and I need to), just one via sender as in function. Of course, I can do it hacky way, but I want to do it effective and regular. Is ItemCollection the right solution or should I do it just like an array of panels? Also I want them in one "box", ItemCollection is good for it.
Second "problem": I need to make labels "merged" in panels, when i MouseEnter them(labels), background color on that panel sets to my default color. when i MouseClick them(labels), nothing happens (need to "select" parent panel). It can be again fixed with hacky way, just disable labels - but then the colors of labels are unchangeable.
I'm using Visual Studio and table adapters using an Access DB as the backend. I need the minimum 4 digit value. I want to get next available 4 or 5 digit number. And this will change depending upon the users request. Currently I use a table adabpter query. But how would I write a query. I suppose I could do a long iterative loop through all values until I see a 4 digit. But I'm trying to think of something more efficient.
Function GetNextAvailableNumber(NumofDigits) as Long 'SQL Code Here ---- 'Query Number Table
I have been working on this all day and still haven't had any luck at getting it to work. I am using the SqlDataReader Object to retrieve data. I am using the code below to send a value to the stored procedure. The problem is that the value is sent enclosed in quotes so I dont get any data back. I have tried using .text.replace("""","")
im making a class.vb which has a sql connection. The class.vb will be used by all forms/windows on the application. So whenever a form needs to access the database, it will call class.vb.
This is the code in class.vb:
Public Sub Openconn() Dim myConnection As SqlConnection Dim connstring As String = "Data Source=192.162;Initial Catalog=db1;User Id=sa;Password=1;"
[code]....
but it gives error: value of type sqlconnection cannot converted to array of Sqlconnection.I just want a method that's useful for opening the connection and that is also useful when asigning to a command object.
I'm designing a web service in ASP.NET and VS2008, and am using typed datasets for retrieving table data. These work well and establish their own connections through their associated TableAdapter objects. Edit: I'm using VB, BTW!I am now attempting to run a custom SQL string using a DataAdapter and a Command object, however I need to reference a Connection object in order for the Command to work. What is the best way to handle this?hould I:a) Create a global connection object using Global.asax, retrieving the connection string from web.config? (I've been trying that one already, with not much success)b) Create a class-level connection object using the InitialiseComponent method, also retrieving the ConnectionString from web.config?c) Retrieve a Connection from one of the TableAdapters that I've already created in my typed DataSets?d) Something else I haven't thought of yet?
I'm helping a colleague develop a "catch all" type error handler for some controls his application. What he wants to do is pass the object that has the error, and the type of that object, such a TextBox or ComboBox, and then call the DirectCast method within his handler to properly address the Text attribute within it. In general, the method is looking like this:
Protected Sub SpecialErrorHandler(ByVal TargetControl As Object, ByVal ControlType As String) MessageBox.Show("Bad Juice: " & DirectCast(TargetControl, ControlType(ObjType)).Text) End Sub
So far any attempts to do a type conversion within the DirectCast method (since it is expecting an object in the general signature) or to even pass in the a Type object properly set is not working.
Any ideas here, or is this one of those "Casting doesn't work that way." type scenarios?
i wanna know for example if you have a few functions that actually creates a new sqlcommand in it and disposes them after use or is it better to have an sqlcommand at the main function and pass the sqlcommand in byref . and after using it. Juz clear the commandtext and the parameters.[code]
I'm trying to delete a record from an access database using the command object in vb.net 2010 express but can't seem to get anywhere. If I run the code below, I get no errors but nothing happens. The connection opens fine but the db does not update.the table has only two columns. The variable strCrit is so that I can build the sql string with exclamation marks, When I debug.print the sqlupdate string it seems to read fine.the routine is called from a form with a button.
Dim sqlupdate As String Dim strcrit As String strcrit = """"[code].......
the create object command is not responondingi try createobject("Excel.Application") or ("Word.Application") but nothing happen.i have office 2007 i have added the references Microsoft Excel 12.0 object library and Microsoft Word 12.0 object library. I have added Imports Microsoft.Office.Intercop
I am having a little trouble with the serialport object in VB2008. I have a program that will send a command to the slave device however the program will not read the data from the slave device. I know my computer is communicating with the slave device because in hypertem it has no problem. For example I send the word "AT" and I should get back a response of "OK",
with vb 2008 express is there any EOF & BOF properties if not is there any alternative for the same any sample line of code (2) what is the place holder for MySQL parameter with command object?
First let me say that I am not sure whether or not this should go in this section or the API section, and if it needs to be moved I apologize. My issue is fairly straight forward, but for some reason I cannot get it to work.
I am trying to send a command to a command line and then submit the command. I have been trying without success to get this to work in v2008 Express and v2010 Express, Here is the code I am trying to us:
Private Declare Function FindWindow Lib "user32" Alias "FindWindowA" ( _ ByVal lpClassName As String, _ ByVal lpWindowName As String _
I'm attempting to invoke with parameters:[code]Value of '415' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'minimum' and 'maximum'.Parameter name: Value..What does this mean? Is there a way around it?
How would i set a minimum number of characters in textbox1 for a button to work. and if the person does not enter the minimum number of characters, a messagebox pops up sayin something like "need at least 5 characters!"
I need to use a trackbar as a scrollbar, but the problem is that the min value is at the bottom i need it to be 0 at the top and maxvalue at the bottom..
I'm using a NumericUpDown control with a Minimum set to 10 (using for font size setting). When it is changed, it is bound to an Application setting and saved. On Form Load, I am attempting to set the value of the NumericUpDown control to the value stored in that setting (14 for example). No matter what though, it doesn't use the setting's value, it uses the value of the "Minimum" property of the NumericUpDown control.
