I just got into VB 2010 with SQL 2008 Server Report. I was able to create a report as my wish and it's vieable via direct url (URL). But I want to pass login Information and Selection parameters to the report. But I don't want to pass them thru URL, So I want to load them from the application (winform) and launch the report in iexplorer.
I need advise on how to solve this scenario. I am not sure whether I should use any Report Application such as Crystal Report or I can just simply use datagridview. My scenario:In a new form, a table will show a least 3 columns.
First, ItemID
2nd, Total Quantity Sold for the Current Month
3rd, Total Quantity Sold: Last month
ItemID Current (Nov) October ABA1 100 85 ABB1 80 90
Hence, I can compare the figure of the current month with the past few month.Right now, I do not have any problems building SQL_String for calculating the Total Qty Sold for the Current month and display it via DataGridView. But I am not sure how to additional column that calculate the Total for the past few month
I have an application that I'm creating that uses VB6 for the maintenance programs, and visual studio 2005 to create the reports. At work we use reporting services to host the reports, but in my application I want to run the report from a menu within the application, not in reporting services. (A) Is this possible? I think I've read about a report viewer that can be embedded into .net applications. If I create a menu system in .net, that shells to execute the maintenance programs that are from vb6, or fires off the report viewer, does this sound feasible? The application is supposed to run connected to their SQL 2005 server via a VPN; I get blank looks when I ask them if they have reporting services installed...
i am working on the project in vb.net in visual studio... my computer's name is homesys(Computer name as shown in MY Computer Properties).when i try to make crystal report using sql server 2008 database... which i made it in visual studio itself, i am unable to get the connection
The company that I work for is not so much sacred of new technology they just seem to let things slip, you know the type, "It worked 5/6+ years ago so I don't see why we should change it"Despite this I have managed by hook or by crook to get an installation of SQL server 2008R2 to develop on which has the reporting services. Excellent I think, I can finally start moving some of the access applications to VB.net and use SSRS to provide some embedded reports, everyone is happy. But not so fast, it turns out the standard build of desktop here only has .net1.1. I have managed to dust off a copy of visual studio 2003 (The last edition that could target 1.1) and built a few little tests to check DB connectivity. The problem I am having is the report viewer control is only available in .net2.0 and above. So what options do I have for displaying my SSRS reports in a VB.net1.1 thick client application?
Before anyone asks the following options are out
Going anything web based (Farrrrrrrrrr too modern for the company + no web server) Upgrading to a version of .net released after George Bush the 2nd lost an election but still became president Changing jobs
how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.
I know to work with VB.net + crystal report + SQL server. But now i want to work with SQL server compact edition instead of SQL server. When we creating Crystal report it is asked provider in one moment. If we work with SQL server we select "Microsoft OLE DB provider for SQL server".I want to know
(Q1) what I should select as provider.
(Q2)After clicking next, it is asked SERVER. what should i typed. (When i use sql server i typed, "MyName-PC\SQLEXPRESS")
I have a vb.net 2.0 winforms project that is full of all kinds of business reports (generated with Excel interop calls) that can be run "on-demand". Some of these reports filter through lots of data and take a long time to run - especially on our older machines around the office.I'd like to have a system where a report request can be made from the client machines, some listener sees it, locates a server with low-load, runs the report on that server, and emails the result to the user that requested it
I am using a server report, which I am rendering in VB.net using reportviewer.serverreport.render into a PDF document.Strangely, when i do this the text in my graphs is really small compared to in the designer or when I view the report in a web browser.
I have an application I have developed which works great on individual PC's. However I've had some interest from a few customers that asked if I have a network version for site licencing. If my app did not save any data or write any reg entries, this might have been ok. But it does to the local computer. I also built in my own copy protection and trial function that stores data in the registry on the local computer. What would I need to do to enable my application to run on a server/network share, so that the only a serial number needed is for the server?
i'm tying to send email in my application directly by the smtp server but the server doesn't allow me to do that. The application its used by everyone in the company, so i set the smtp client UseDefaultCredentials to True, but the server replies with this when i try to send an email:[code].....If i set the credentials by hand, the server sends the email. So my problem is how to make this work to everyone? I don't want to have one public/friend var all time in the application with the credentials of the current user?
My problem is, when deploy vb.net 2005 with crystal report on Windows Server R2 2008, the report can't load it show blank. i'm using AxCRViewer91 component.

I have some questions about building reports in Report builder 3.0 OR SQL Server BI Studio 2008. I use the report builder for the good wizard. Make better reports dan de BI wizard. And after that i work further in the BI Studio. Now i have a problem i have a report(letter) that i need to generate. But i exists of 2 pages. The first page is a letter with the second page as Attachment with some calculations. So i may not printed on the same page. But i can't make 2 page's in de report builder or BI studio. How can i do that? Because i must place on each page a footer with some general info.

An application loaded on a citrix server executes with no problem. When we try to run the same program files on a virtual server, we get silent errors and we do not even see the application window appear. The program runs for a moment in task manager, but then closes down. BTW other .net apps run on the virtual server. Here is the error we see in the event viewer application logs[code]...
i have a vb .net 2008 console application that generate a pdf based on a report made in crystal report (.rpt) developed on a local machine, it work fine but when i installed the same application on the server and its opened in the vb .net 2008 installed in the server the fonts looks differents (they both have arial inline, i dont use cssclass on the project) and some controls have different sizes, so i have to make differents changes in the proyect.I check the crystal report.engine dll and are the same in both vb. studio why it presents the differents between the applications?
I've found out that if two instances of an SSRS report run at the same time, any Code variables declared at the class level (not inside a function) can collide. I suspect this may be the cause of our report failures and I'm working up a potential fix.The reason we're using the Code portion of SSRS at all is for things like custom group and page header calculation. The code is called from expressions in TextBoxes and returns what the current label should be. The code needs to maintain state to remember what the last header value was in order return it when unknown or to store the new header value for reuse
I am creating small application (desktop search engine) which uses sql server as back end. Sql server is used to store huge data using indexing (for quick search). Is it necessary that client should have sql server on his machine to run the application? I don't want to install sql server on client's machine, because my application is just a small utility. Is there any other way so that I can store huge data using indexing?
I am updating our CruiseControl.NET continuous integration environment from using the old Visual Studio 2008 Web Deployment projects to Visual Studio 2010. I do not want to use the Beta 2010 Web Deployment projects as I think I can make use of the updated Publishing/Packaging in 2010. Currently I have managed to configure the CruiseControl script to call MSBuild twice. First to Build the solution in the Release configuration and then to Package the MVC project. I then copy out the correct files from the Package from a hideous file path (which makes me suspect I am not doing this right but heh) and the Transformed web.configs to the Test server.
