i have a vb .net 2008 console application that generate a pdf based on a report made in crystal report (.rpt) developed on a local machine, it work fine but when i installed the same application on the server and its opened in the vb .net 2008 installed in the server the fonts looks differents (they both have arial inline, i dont use cssclass on the project) and some controls have different sizes, so i have to make differents changes in the proyect.I check the crystal report.engine dll and are the same in both vb. studio why it presents the differents between the applications?

how I can reference a report variable in the Report Properties Code Window of a local report? I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.
View 3 RepliesI have an application that will not load unless my local SQL Server is running on an Vista Home Premium machine. This started after a .Net 1 to .Net 4 conversion. I am using a sub main sub that is not being called (msgbox is not fired when entering the app), however, I see the app through taskmgr with increasing memory usage, but then the app is removed from the list. By design, if the program cannot locate a SQL Server a form pops up with a connection box to locate the SQL Server for the app. How it determines if it has a valid connection is the program looks for a connection string in the registry, then attempts to connect to it, however, none of this code executes because of the failure to enter into the sub main.The two machines I have tried the 32 bit app on
XP Pro: Failed / Using SQL Server 2008 Express
Windows 2003 Server: Works / Using SQL Server 2008 Developer

I am generating PDF file using Crystal report ExportToDisk method in VB.NET 3.5.
Locally and on integration environment generated PDF file is much readable i.e.font size is good. But the PDF file generated on production environment is different in formatting.The lines are wrapping and font size is also little small. There is not Adobe installed on integration.
I'm making a game in Gamemaker and i'm using VS2010 to create a launcher for it. The launcher works like the Minecraft launcher:
it has to check a file from my server, then compare it to the local file, and if they aren't the same, the launcher has to re-download the game.exe from the server.
This all has to happen when i click play. To make the game start i use
Process.Start(My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory & "\game.exe") i've put the game in the solution explorer.
put 'copy to output directory' to 'copy always'. i appareantly had to do that according to a tutorial to launch game.exe. Now, as i've said, i'm quitte new to VS 2010.
So I have an application which uses MSSQL server as datasource. Is there anyways I can avoid using any database server and use a local file as datasource ?

I have a form with 2 Report-viewers each displaying their own rdlc file they both are Identical the only diference is the user has the option to have their name or their logo on it..They both render perfectly in the report-viewer..I get the error only on one of the reports when I try to export to PDF with code I wrote not the built in export button in ReportViewer,if I use the built in export button it exports well.[code]

I've a service running under Windows Server 2008R2. I'm using the system.IO to do some copying & deletion of files and directories.This is working fine as long the service is using an user account. If I set the selection to 'Local system account' then it is not possible anymore to delete or copy files.

View 3 RepliesI moved my web application to a server and im getting this error below, but on my localhost it works great. Im finding that the error has to have something to do with the dataset not pulling back any data, when I do a for each statement. But the weird thing is that I do a for each statement on another page and it works fine. Here is my for each statement, that im assuming doesnt work. The reason im assuming it b/c when i test it on local it works fine:

i created more projects using ReportViewer 2005 and 2008 in local processing mode than I can count on my hands. All Visual Studio 2005 or 2008 ASP.NET web forms projects. I always used some flavor of Object data source for the reports.Tonight, I attempted to add the same functionality to a Visual Studio 2010 MVC 2 project and am failing miserably. First, the Add New Item > Reporting > Report is now a 2008 RDLC and not a 2005 RDLC report. Secondly, when trying to add a DataSet, my usual method of create a data proxy class with static methods that return IEnumerables(Of Stuff) will not show up as sources in the DataSources drop down
Thirdly, my only option is to add a Database connection. There is no "Object Data Source" to pick from: Like I kind of alluded to, I have no problems whatsoever actually rendering a report using the ReportViewer control. What I can't do is figure out how set up a Data Source in these new-fangled 2008 reports with Visual Studio 2010 so that I can pump a list of domain objects into the ReportViewer and display the report.
UPDATE: With some more research, I've found that MVC projects do not allow object data sources to be used within them. One solution for my issue is to create a separate project in the solution -- a web application, a service, or even just a class library, to add the report to and design it accordingly.'m still looking for alternatives here, so don't run away too fast!

But I want to pass login Information and Selection parameters to the report. Everything works fine until I connect to the test DB.When same report is pointed to UAT DB (all required DB objects are available in UAT too), I am getting error. To fix this, I have to change the server name to UAT DB manually in the RPT file

I have no idea how to go about this or if i need a connection code ( i have only had experience with connecting to an access database and filling a dataset with the information etc) I dont think id need an SQL for it? The application project running fine on my development machine (Windows XP,visual studio 2008, crystal report 2008). i tried this exe into another machine but all manner of problems arose. The problem is that I need to print the same report using Crystal Reports for each row in my query. Is there any way this can be done? I call a form with a ReportViewer tool to display the reports, wich are basic .rdlc reports.
