View 6 RepliesHow can you stop IE from opening up in a WebBrowser control on a new window (target=_blank")? I've gotten the WebBrowser_NewWindow thig and tried e.Cancel and CancelEventArgs and none of these work. What do I do?
View 1 RepliesI am working on a tabbed web browser and it is going great! Only one problem! When someone presses on a link that has a target of _blank or a new window, it opens in IE!
I have tried things like:
Private Sub newbrowse_newwindow(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs)
e.Cancel = True
End Sub
but that only cancels IE from opening. What I want is it to open in a new tab. I have set it so that NewTab() opens the new tab to the users homepage.
Basically, I need to find out how to get the URL of what the browser is trying to open.
I decided it was about time I learned about accessing Microsoft Office products via VB.NET. I started with Excel and it all worked fine, I could create a new Excel Application, open a workbook from file and read from the sheet then close it all down again no worries. However, when I turned to Word...things got strange. Using the code provided below, every time I run it an instance of Microsoft Word opens itself on the desktop (with no loaded content). I didn't have this problem when using Excel with similar code, so I have to ask..what gives? Is there a way I can stop MS word opening at all? At the moment it just flickers for a second (it opens when I open the document, then when I call the Quit method it shuts down a split second later)[code]...
View 3 RepliesThis is a rather odd problem i am running into I currently have a web page that i am adding hyperlinks to that when clicked will open a file (usually Word file though there are some Excel files). Here's the problem. When debugging all of the files do open properly, however, files labeled .doc, .docx, or .xls all end up stopping debug mode when they open. I have .docm files that open properly and do not stop debugging. There isn't an error thrown anywhere just a forced stop of debug mode it seems.
Has anyone ran into a problem similar to this? I have only tested locally but i am unsure if it will cause problems when putting it on the test server. I'm still not quite done with the rest of the page so i was hoping to stop this behavior before completeing the project.
I am trying to open a MDI child form in some presenter class. In the form load handler I perform a number of initializations. If any of them fails I want to cancel opening the form. The current code does not prevent the form from opening.
Private Sub OnFormLoad(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Try
Me.mGridBindsource = New BindingSource()

I am new to VB but am quick at learning and well I'm not one to hit a problem and just ask for help I have been search google, forums and various VB tutorials and YouTube videos trying to find how to do this with no luck.I am creating a program which will basically speed up the process of creating account at the moment I am working on a program aimed at Twitter and I am so nearly finished apart from I have hit a snag.I have 2 browsers in vb one is for Twitter and the other is url...When the verify link comes through in (webbrowser2/incognitomail) and is clicked it opens in IE when I would like it to open in one of the web browsers.I have searched so many sites and forums and found nothing on this subject
View 3 RepliesNote: I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. Note: There are a lot of MDI Child posts, but none (that I have found) that apply to my scenario... Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. When I show a child form with its WindowState property already set to 'Maximized', the child form shows maximized in the MDI parent, but behind the UserControl.

I have the following code... in an MDI application. [code] Various lines of code which put data into the Myinstance and then save the instance into the ArrayList.I have buttons which run procedures and functions in the formchild and also in the Class1. I need it so you can jump between formchild instances, and when you do so and click a button on that form, it will run the Class1 code but using the data in the arraylist and myinstance that was set previously by the selected formchild. Then if you switch to another child it uses data from this form. Can this be done by declaring the arraylist with more dimensions and then refer to the records with the index of the selected form instance, e.g.Selected Child is index(3)
View 1 RepliesI have created an MDIparent form and a MDIchild. There is a button on the parent which makes multiple 'clones' of the child form, each time its clicked.I also want (maybe with a module) a set of variables, and array of a structure but these are available to each copy of the child, but each copy's variables, arraylist etc contain its own data?Therefore if you select child1 the variables and array will have different data to child2, child3...etc...
View 3 RepliesAlright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

I have a simple application that use thread pool to read a file and input the data into a listbox. I want to be able to stop threadpool from running after clicking a stop button. How do I stop threadpool? Here is the code for my application below:

Private Delegate Sub StringDelegate(ByVal text As String)

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

My program shows some browser. From a browser user can open maximized MDI form with some report. When user is closing the report, first MDI form with browser is became maximized.
2 forms have same MDI parent. Can I change this behavior to leave my first browser form without maximizing after second report closed?
I have a form which I want to keep maximized and all other forms to stay their original size. The problem that I am getting is when I open an additional form, it also maximizes even though I have set the form size to Normal. When I click on the Maximize button to put it back to the size it should be, the form that I want to keep maximized also reduces in size.

After maximizing a form, if I drag the title bar, the form moves out of position. This seems to be normal in windows, since IE does it also, but can I disable this? so the form stays fixed and unmovable?
View 1 RepliesI have a form showing a datagrid with info from a database. It also has 2 date pickers to filter the database results. It shows everything perfectly in the datagrid, so the db connection is ok. But it also has a few labels below, showing some info taken from the datagrid. For example, the datagrid has sales information and the labels below show the total sales. This works fine too.But the problem comes when I open some other form, maximize it and then open this form containing all this stuff (while the previous one is still open and maximized). These labels (along with a few more labels that only contain the '$' character) get on top
of the datagrid. Even if I restore the form to its normal size the labels are positioned wherever they want. The weird thing is that this only happens with some labels and not with all of them.My first guess was the anchor property, but I set it to left-bottom and it still does this.
I'm doing a project in computer programing. I need to make a game so I made pong.everything is working fine, except when it loads it is often so low that you cant see the bottom paddle and i have to move the form up.is there a way that i can make the form automatically load already maximized, or load at a certain point in my screen?
View 3 Replieshow can i calibrate my form to be the same size in accordance to the screen size. So for instance if the original size of the form is 10cm by 10cm then when its maximized, how can i make the real size change automatically, because at the moment when i maximize the size of the buttons and labels etc. stay the same.

View 1 RepliesI am making a program that edits my website with the input that I put in. But, it is requiring multiple forms (obviousily), but I don't know how to make it close the one I am in while opening the other. For example: I have a form that opens first that requires a Username and Password, so nobody can obviousily use it without knowing them. When I submit the correct username and password and go on with the editing, I need the login form to close. I do not know the coding for this part. Is it:

View 1 RepliesI have a VB .NET application set as single instance. View 1 RepliesIs there away to prevent an MDI child form from being auto maximized?
The problem I have is this. I have an mdi application that contains 2 mdi child forms. When I show the first form and maximize it so that it fills the mdi window I can't load the second form non maximized.
Vb.net automatically maximizes the second form despite the fact that I didn't tell it too! If I then restore the second form to its normal size it then does the same with the first form. This is all very strange to me. When you maximize one form inside an MDI window it maximizes them all.[code]...
