What I would like to do is be able to take a Dictionary of key value pairs and make the key the name of a variable and the value the value. From searching the net seems to be very vague on whether this is possible.

In other words the values of the last row used are stored in every key, value dictionary combination. How do you prevent this from happening? It is clearly associated with the use of the temp variable, as the dictionary changed as the temp variable changes. Is there a way to only copy the values from the array rather then associate the dictionary with the changing values of the array?
I have a struct setup like the following[code]...
I then loop through a counter and add each PersonInfo object to the Dictionary. The Primary defaults to false if the Code is already in the Dictionary, but if it has not been inserted into the Dictionary, I want to set the Primary to True. It would be easy to check if the Code was the key, but I can't because the Code is not unique.
So I had a smart idea to make a dictionary with all my variables so I could save them easily in chunks. This includes String, Boolean and Integers. When I was in Framework 3.5 I only had a few warnings about stuff that I didn't have coded in, but now in Framework 4 I am maxing out all my warnings with Implicit conversions. Personally I don't want to go to every number and put quotes around it put quotes around "True" because then it may change the method.

The Class has a Enumeration Property. For the purposes of demonstration, I'll call it MasterCategory.I have been trying to get out an object that looks like the following:

The best result I could get was:

I then tried to use various selects and group bys (from numerous stackoverflow posts) to "flatten" it, but my efforts have fallen short.

I am currently trying to pass MyDictionary into a function, filter it into a new instance of MyDictionary and pass this new instance into another method. When I am attempting to create the second instance from the filtered first instance of MyDictionary via Lambda Expressions and the ToDictionary Method, I am getting the following error:
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2[System.Int32,System.String]' to type 'MyDictionary'. I have simplified the example and recreated it in LINQPad and am getting the same error.

View 3 RepliesI have a VBA form in Microstation I am using to try and help automate a task. The only problem I am having is I am reading a textbox (Filebox.Text) and setting it as the variable (FN). It works, because I used Msg.Box (FN) to test it. However, in two of the lines of code, I am trying to use (FN) to pass the typed in filename to the command to run in Microstation. Unfortunently, it gets passed on as (FN).dgn instead of the actual filenale typed into the textbox. Is there a way I can make the variable actually seen as a variable? I'm thinking to use the SortedDictionary to store 65,000 set of keypairs and from time to time during my program execution, I need to retrieve the value from the this dictionary. May i know will there any concern especially in term of speed of execution if i use this method as above? Is there max. capacity that a dictionary can hold?
Previously, i was thinking to use a simple 2D array to do this, but it mights slow things down because in order to retrieve the value, i might need to loop through the whole array till i found the value that i want.

View 3 RepliesI'm having a little trouble creating a game of pairs as a project.Basically I've got to the point where I can start a game, layout a bunch of cards in a grid, 6x6, and then have a way of matching the pairs together. First of all I used a For loop to assign the cards into a two dimensional array. They are pictureboxes however so when a user clicks on 2 cards, checking them to see if they match has become confusing. I've tried to stuff like this for example but it's not working: [code] This doesn't work because it can't compare the picture boxes stored to the array slot. Is there any clever person with a way around this? Or that can think of a way to compare them. The pictureboxes kinda need to stay like there though :/

But the remaining 10% is going to need to be editable w/o re-compiling the project in VS 2010. This remaining 10% will be based on a templated version of my Enums class, but will generate code at runtime, based upon data values sourced in from external configuration files.what my Enums class looks like. The templated fields, per that question, will be the MaxEnums Int32, Names String() array, and Values array, plus each shared implementation of the Enums sub-class (which themselves, represent the Enums that I use elsewhere in my code).I'd like to parse values from a simple text file (INI-style) of key/value pairs:

I'm a hands-on learner, so I have to have example code to play with.
I have pairs of controls: immagebox + textbox = one pair.I want these to show up in a single column grid/tabular format.Each cell contains one image/text pair.I want this grid to scroll because the number of pairs is dynamic depending on a user selection.I suppose I will be adding these controls in code at runtime when the user makes his/her selection.
