May 25, 2010So im currently making a program, basicly i want the user to put in a certain code into a text box, then when they hit the button, visual basic opens the excel spreadsheet, and seaches for the code the put it, so i have this excel sheet that has like a billioncodes and the names of the codes, so the names of the codes are in column a, and the codes are in column b, i want vb to open the spreadsheet, search through column b from top to bottom, then close the spreadsheet, and put the name of the code from column a into a label so the user can see. and possibly pop up with an error box if it doesnt find the code.

I would like to figure out how to transfer the data back in forth to make a more presentable and user-friendly program in VB Studio.Basically, I need my form in VB to input data to into an excel �workbook.data�, where the calculations are preformed. Then I need to copy the finished excel data cells �workbook.results� and paste them into an end result form in VB. I have tried looking at threads and cannot come up with a solution. There is no data saved each time the program runs, so I don't have a database.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".

Sep 28, 2011I am reading in data from an excel file that is only viewed inside the program. This excel file is being populated by data from multiple PLCs (7) through DDE links via RS Linx Gateway. I would like this data to be written to two different excel files and specific sheets within those so that it can be viewed later on.
My program has a form that will allow the user to view the data live, meaning they look at the first excel file from the program so that they are not able to edit the DDE links or change the file in any way. The other excel files (there will be two, one for good parts, one for bad parts) have specific sheets for each part and each tester station. For example, if the part is a ABC part, and it is a good part, and it was tester on tester station 1 then it needs to be saved to the good parts excel file, in the ABC sheet and in the good tester station 1 sheet.
If part XYZ comes along and is a bad part (fails testing) then it needs to be saved to the bad parts file, the XYZ sheet and the bad tester station 1 sheet.I might have added more detail than is needed to solve the problem but I thought I would add it anyways to help you all understand my problem a little better.

Dec 22, 2010I typed this question once already, hit preview, and somehow never got the preview and lost what I typed. It has been that kind of a day.So here is my quick overview then I am going shopping. I am using OLE DB to select from an excel spreadsheet. It has over 15000 rows and 33 columns. Sometimes even when a cell is not null, it is returning a null value. If I just do a "select * where [termination date] is not null", for example, it will return no rows even though I can see with my own eyes that sometimes termination date is not null.

May 9, 2012I was using ContentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" on my web site to display a datatable in an excel workbook on the client. It worked great. Now that I have upgraded to Office 2007 and vb.net 2010, I get a warning saying that the file is in a different format than specified by the file extension (.xls). I googled new ways of exporting data to excel, but have yet to find a good example. I usedMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Excel which worked great, except I read that you are not supposed to use this on a web server.

Apr 14, 2012This question is a follow up to an earlier question I had that was quickly resolved. The previous question can be found here: Selecting TOP 4 records from multiple SQL Server tables. Using vb.net..I selected the top 4 rows from multiple SQL tables ordered by date. How would I then go about placing that data into labels. There should be 16 items in total (4 columns, 4 rows). However if I try to use sqldatareader I only get items 0-3 and anything more is outside of the array. Should I not be using an IF statement in this case? Jun 12, 2011I'm doing a project that requires me to create a book ordering form. I have the books displayed in a listbox named bookselectionlistbox, and when a book is selected, it displays the price of that book in a label named bookpricelabel1. I have a button named addbutton that allows the user to add the book to the shopping cart. The shopping cart is in the form of a combobox named shoppingcartcombobox. Lastly, there is a receipt button that transfers ALL the books from the shopping cart to a seperate label called label3, not just the selected book. The last thing I need to do is have the price of each book also transfer to the receipt section. This needs to be done either on the same label3 on the same line as the book title, or on a seperate label that is adjacent to label3, I have temporarily placed a label there named label5. I am using a case statement for the bookselectionlistbox to say that when a certain book is selected, the bookpricelabel1 will display "$xx". I also have an IF statement under the addbutton label that generates a total price for all the books in the shopping cart, here is an example of the code I used for one of the books:

Updating A Label With Data
Mar 11, 2010I have Data coming in through a serial port and it consists of pretty much all numerical values except for a few begining response characters. Its a Load Cell which spits out Tension in Pounds. I'm making a simple terminal program with the ability to log the Incoming Data for record keeping and data plotting. I want the incoming Tension to be displayed on the screen real time.I can get it into a text box and have it scroll indefinetly as it updates the data,but I'd like to keep it localized in one Label. I can display it in the Label but it wants to scroll down as it comes in. I want to keep it refreshed in one spot if that makes any sense. Heres what I have thus far. It will put it in the Label but wants to scroll like in the textbox. For example if I send #00F0 followed by a carriage return it replys back with whatever is displayed on the Screen which usually is the tension.it says "01TK 00.074 LBS" no quotes.. for a reply.I'm assuming it needs to be stripped down to just the numeric characters first.'here is what gets sent to the Load Cell to tell it to output data fast as it can to the serial port.[code]

Transfer Combo Box Data To Label?
Mar 12, 2011I'm doing a project for my vb.net class and I'm running into an issue figuring one part of it out. The way it works is the user selects the name of a book from a list box and then clicks add and then it's added to the shopping cart which is a combo box. Then there is a receipt button and when that button is pressed, it makes a groupbox become visible and in that groupbox there is a label and I need that label to display ALL of the contents of the shopping cart combo box. I know how to transfer the selected combo box item to the label but how to transfer ALL of the combo box items to the label.
The name of the shopping cart combo box is "shoppingcartcombobox"
The name of the add button is "addbutton"
The name of the label is "label3"
