I'm trying to measure the performance of seven sorting algorithms in a single VB 2008 program. I've tried using a Timer componend, the Stopwatch, and DateTime.Ticks but nothing works. The following simple code produces a result of about 500 (milliseconds), which is correct, but when I change 500 to 1000, I get a ridiculous result like 0 or 8.

I am quite new at VB.NET and just need helo on sorting algorithms, prferbly the fastest (quick sort) but bubble would so. It is for sorting and array for 12 numbers, which are being enter by the user via a input box. These are then transfered onto a listbox for visual aid. so the steps involved would be: (already done)1) Enter then inputs into array via inputbox2) Input to sppear in listbox (not done)3) Sort the array ascending/decending4) print results into the listbox again.In my code there is also a total and a average, but that doesnt need any help on it. This is, of course, very buggy and causes a lot of violation errors etc. But that doesn't matter right now. How come the multi-threading way is so much faster than the regular routine? Is the processor not running on full speed with the first code, and is it working harder on the second?I find it weird to see this type of "threading performance increase", as if every single thread gets their own piece of processor speed allocated like it is a new process
I'm using VB.NET to connect to and parse data from an Analysis Services database.
The problem I'm having is while trying to find all Measure Groups that are related to a given Dimension. I've been digging through the API and it doesn't seem that Dimensions have any information on Measure Groups at all, but Measure Groups can contain Dimensions.
This makes it easy if I want to get a list of related Dimensions given a Measure Group(measureGroup.Dimensions), but what I'm looking for is the opposite.
The only thing I can think of is to loop through all the Measure Groups within the Cube and check if it contains a reference to the Dimension in question[code]...

Why does this code works for the first few then gives timeout on all the rest ? VB removed, resolved like when i run it with say 50 threads, the first few work fine but then the rest after that all time out, i have tryed moving the ones that work to the bottom of the list but they still timeout after the first few are done.

I want to test out a code line with about 50,000 characters over about 7 lines, but VB takes about 2-3 minute breaks for every line of code I change and it crashes every 1-5th try. I have a listview with items. I have a sorting class to do it. However when something is changeing my Listview control.
There are 3 colums. All items for each column exists in an struct with 3 items, one for each column. I have checked that I have all data in the array. But when I loop trough array of items and add then to the Listview, then many items in column 2 and 3 is not showing up.... This happens only after I have used the sorting class.[code...]
