with .net 2005 + access -> data to excel
i have transferred the data from access to excel now i want to perform the subtotal function.

(1) microsoft excel can not determine the row in your list or selection contains column labels which are required for this command
+ other 3 items.what wrong i am doing here .i am suspecting the way i passing the column numbers in to the subtotal function

I'm trying to transfer Data submitted into a listview xaml form to a vb form but having difficultly in doing so.
My goal is to be able to double click a "username" and it will move that data to a new form and be displayed in a user / pass text boxes.
I've added the code to my project to try and give you guru's a idea as to what i'm getting at.

The backend uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 runtime engine with an MSDE database engine. The frontend however is built with Microsoft VB.Net and the dotnet framework. I'm not sure how this changes things when trying to extract the tables. I've found the folders where SQL-notepad looking files are contained but am not sure what my next step should be. TBH i dont know what version of Microsoft VB.Net framework is used but the system is quite old and was made in 2001. If you haven't noticed from my poor phrasing i'm a bit of a newb when it comes to programming. If there is a particular programming code i have to put in i wouldn't really know where to put it.

I am using the followin code to insert excel data into an access table. Everythig works, but the problem is if my excel file has 10000+ rows, it takes a while to insert. Is there a better way of doing this without installing office in each client pc, that I will be deploying my app?

I have an access databse, but the data is link to excel, so i cant changes the data inside access database. However, i just want to retrieve the data inside the access database using VB datagridview, but the system pop out an error said 'cannot find the input table or query'Is it because the data is link with excel, so access databse cannot direct take the data? I just made a code to convert data from excel to access.
I encounter an error every time that I try to make the convertion.
This is the error:
'Sheet1 $' is not a valid name. Make sure where this does not include characters or punctuation marks are not valid and does not too long.
I have to mention that I have Office 12 (2007) that is not in English!

I have written a VBA code in EXCEL that updates my tables in Access. The code is fully functionnal when I am entering new data but I don't know how to make it work when a data (primary key) already exists and that I need this data for another table. I'm trying to write data from an excel spreadsheet to an Access database. When i run my program a message appears saying that the correct number of records have been saved, however when i check my access database no records have been written to the database table.

I am looking to produce an Excel report from an Access database table. The data contains numerous records with fields for Site, Country, Region, Type and a Resolution Time. My problem is that each month the Sites change so I need to be able to write VB code within Access to read the database table and output 'Site' records for that month, grouped together along with the incident details for that site, e.g. The report would have the following headings:
'SITE' 'COUNTRY' 'REGION' 'TYPE' 'TOTAL' 'RESOLVED<3DAYS' 'RESOLVED>3DAYS' 'NOT RESOLVED'

As I will have over 30 different sites and these may change each month how do I loop through the data identifying each site and its associated field values? I have used the following code to open the data and loop through records printing to excel, but am stuck at grouping by site:

I am currently building a tool which uses access as the backend and excel as the user interface (I am unable to change the applications).I would like to be able to use the listview option, howver I haven't a clue and searching on the internet is causing me a headache.
Basically what I would like to do is get the heading names from the table in access and populate the listview, later on I will what it to look at specifc data to populate the list view.
My connections is already open, I think I'm ok witht he sql, its just the other bits.

i am using vb .net and importing excel sheet to ms access. i am doing this work very well. but i want that when a user select the excel file to import, than user must asked for the data types that he want for the different fields, by default when user imports the excel file it assign the text data type to text filed such as name and number data type to numeric field such as roll_no. but i want that user select the data type according to his need.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the things I want to do in a database are better done if I run a conversion code from Excel to Access, do mighty things in Access, then have the option of converting back to Excel to distribute elsewhere. I'm already familiar with using Access and the code I keep finding in threads almost always refers to .mdb files. Below is a conversion that does not seem to work (button2). I'm trying to do this through ADO with OleDb connections. If I can convert to Access much will make sense.

I am trying to read excel data (Excel 2007 SP1, on Windows XP SP3) with visual basic .net 2008 (VB 9.0 SP1). I created a VBA project in Excel. I would like to figure out how to transfer the data back in forth to make a more presentable and user-friendly program in VB Studio.Basically, I need my form in VB to input data to into an excel �workbook.data�, where the calculations are preformed. Then I need to copy the finished excel data cells �workbook.results� and paste them into an end result form in VB. I have tried looking at threads and cannot come up with a solution. There is no data saved each time the program runs, so I don't have a database.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".

I am reading in data from an excel file that is only viewed inside the program. This excel file is being populated by data from multiple PLCs (7) through DDE links via RS Linx Gateway. I would like this data to be written to two different excel files and specific sheets within those so that it can be viewed later on.
My program has a form that will allow the user to view the data live, meaning they look at the first excel file from the program so that they are not able to edit the DDE links or change the file in any way. The other excel files (there will be two, one for good parts, one for bad parts) have specific sheets for each part and each tester station. For example, if the part is a ABC part, and it is a good part, and it was tester on tester station 1 then it needs to be saved to the good parts excel file, in the ABC sheet and in the good tester station 1 sheet.
If part XYZ comes along and is a bad part (fails testing) then it needs to be saved to the bad parts file, the XYZ sheet and the bad tester station 1 sheet.I might have added more detail than is needed to solve the problem but I thought I would add it anyways to help you all understand my problem a little better.

I typed this question once already, hit preview, and somehow never got the preview and lost what I typed. It has been that kind of a day.So here is my quick overview then I am going shopping. I am using OLE DB to select from an excel spreadsheet. It has over 15000 rows and 33 columns. Sometimes even when a cell is not null, it is returning a null value. If I just do a "select * where [termination date] is not null", for example, it will return no rows even though I can see with my own eyes that sometimes termination date is not null.
