I've been searching for the answer for this all over, but I can't seem to find the solution. I have no idea how do this. A code that triggers an event after multiple command buttons are pressed in a certain order. For example: I press Command1, then Command2, then Command8, then Command5, then an event happens. It's kind of similar to entering a code to activate something.

Which is the most appropriate event to handle for this task? Right now I'm calling the updatedDb sub when the .CellEndEdit event triggers and when the .UserAddedRows event triggers.
I know how to use the default buttons item, but is there any way to achieve the style of multiline buttons (or maybe rather, "clickable text"?) like shown below?
The situation is that I have an interface for the user to select what kind of file he wishes to establish, and there has to be a brief description under the larger, main line of text.

What I would like to do is to have four different buttons (e.g., buttonA, buttonB, buttonC and button D). I wanna give the following instruction to the people: press these buttons in the following order: first buttonA, then buttonB, then buttonC and last buttonD. If they obey this instruction then a picture will be displayed, for instance a happy face. All the other combinations will not activate this picture to be displayed, or in other words, there won't be any consequence. I would also like to save this data using windows note pad e.g., writeline (1, xxxxxx). Is there any chance I will make it?

View 1 RepliesI am using an activeX control to read data from an external source. This data is processed in 5 second increments. Each piece of data is passed through an event. When the event triggers I call a "decision" procedure from the event to process the data and make decisions on what to do, i.e. call other procedures, store the data, etc... This works fine when I have a small number of samples (around 10), however, when the number of samples increases to say 100, that is I am recieving 100 pieces of data every 5 seconds, the "decision" procedure does not fully run. Is it possible that the event trigger is causing the code to exit the "decision" procedure prematurely? I know that the "Decision" procedure starts since I have written data from the beginning of the procedure but not the end of it. how to handle the rapid event triggers?

I'm using DialogResult.No for No button and DialogResult.Cancel for cancel button. But pressing either of them triggers DialogResult.Cancel event. Whats the problem?
I'm working on a program with a fairly complex graphical interface. Due to the volume of information possible in the interface, the tooltip, or something like it, seems likely to be a fairly critical means of obtaining feedback. However, after a bit of testing, there are a few features that I am not really enamored with. First, I am changing the tooltip text dynamically based on the portion of a control that the mouse hovers over. This is done in the Hover event handler. What I am seeing is that once the hover event is raised once for a control, it appears not to be raised for that control again unless the mouse leaves the control and re-enters. Therefore, the tooltip is set based on where the mouse hovers the first time it hovers on the control, then doesn't change until the mouse has left the control.
More disturbingly, the tooltip sometimes doesn't show up at all. It appears that if I am quick enough about moving the mouse over the control, then hovering does nothing and no tooltip shows up at all. The way to get the tooltip to show up is to move the mouse smoothly, and somewhat slowly, over the control, then pause. As long as the motion is slow enough, the tooltip always shows up. However, if the mouse is then moved, the tooltip goes away, and won't return until the mouse has left the control and come back to it. So basically, First, I will look into showing something on MouseMove rather than Hover, as Hover appears to be inconsistent, at best. Yet that doesn't solve the problem that the tooltip is too inconsistent in behavior. Is there an alternative, or timing property settings for the tooltip that improves responsiveness?
I am writing a web page, on this web page there is a txtStart and txtEnd. Next to them I have Calendar ImageButtons. I would like to code it so when the ImageButton is clicked a calendar popup appears and when they select a date on the popup it goes away and the date is populated into the txt. Format MM/DD/YYYY. I have alot of experience in working in VBA for excel, but not so much experience in creating my own structures so it's all still a bit foggy. I'm trying to capture the event for when the F1 key is pressed, not just when the form is active, but anytime the program is running. The code below expressing the handling is automatically generated for me in VB Express... But I'd like to change the situation to encompass anytime the program is open. How can I tell what mouse buttons are being pressed at a certain time?
View 1 RepliesI wanna set up a panel, that will, when opend up will sit on the side of the screen. It will consist of around 8 or so large buttons each with a different name on them. When the buttons are clicked on they will send the keys Ctrl+shift+F9 for example. Each different button will have a different variation of keys that it will automaticly send. The idea behind this is that I will have another program running that will be se up to perform actions when certain keys are pressed (Autohotkey if your familiar).
Now I'll be honest, I dont have a clue with visual basic, or any code other than html, hence why I'm posting here hoping I can get some help. Can anyone provide me with some information on how to set up buttons or how to do this entire task?
I am having trouble with a blackjack game I am creating
I have buttons 1 - 13 (A-K)
I have 5 Textboxes which when the above buttons are pressed displays the values in the textboxes.
I also have one more textbox which adds up the values of the above 5 textboxes to give your Black Jack Total.
The problem I have is if an Ace (11) is in one of the textboxes and the Total Value exceeds 21 I need to have the Ace (11) change its value to 1 instead.
textbox 1 - 5 will be the card values
textbox6.text will be the total Value
I have tried......
if textbox6.text > 21 and textbox1.text = 11 then textbox1.text = 1
This seems to work fine however it only solves the problem of an Ace (11) appearing in textbox1.text so i tried to repeat the code with the other boxes...

Is there a way to randomize the location of a button? I am making a "Button Game" that is a kind of guessing game.The user clicks one of three buttons on a form, and if it is the correct button, then the next form shows, which will be level 2. I pretty much got all of the code down. Now, though, when I debug and run the program, I noticed that everytime I reopened the the game, the buttons were in the same order.So, if the user plays the game once, closes the game, the buttons are still in the same order, and the user knows how to beat it! That kind of makes the game boring to play because the user knows where everything is.Is there a way to randomize the order of the buttons?

How to achieve this alphabetical sort? i am using Visual Basic 2010 Express.

I am running VS 2008 and building my app on a Windows 7 box. The main form/window has a KeyDown event handler as follows in it:

When I build it and run it within VS it seems to run fine. The messagebox appears with the state of the control and shift keys along with the key code of the key I pressed. However, if I take the executable and run it on an XP box (both using .Net Runtime 3.5) as soon as the main form opens, the messagebox appears. Basically the "KeyDown" event seems to be firing without any keys being pressed. The messagebox comes back with: "control = False, shift = False, e.Keycode = None".
How is this possible? How can the keyDown event be fired when no keys have been pressed (as is confirmed by the output contained in the messagebox?) how I can diagnose this on the XP box since it does not have Visual Studio on it?Update I tried creating a brand new project where there is only "form1" and the only code behind this is the keyDown event handler. It just opens a blank window and pops up the message box if a key is pressed. It worked as expected on the Win 7 box but when I moved the executable to the XP box, it immediately popped open the messagebox without pressing a key.
I have a tabcontrol with 3 tabs. I can't see where any event is raised when I click the small tab area (where the name of the tabpage is). I see where an event is raised when I click on the tabpage itself. What is the event for the small tab area? I am getting by with a mousemove event over the currently selected tabpage.

So that user will not work so hard to cut & paste each four digits!dy in txtBox4 and want to delete back with the key "BackSpace/Return".
