View 3 RepliesI have a form called 'Bookmarks' that loads a bookmark file that contains a single word on one line. I have put buttons on the form for sorting this list, deleting items and changing the character case to lowercase, uppercase or Sentence Case.Now, deleting and sorting the list works fine, but when I try to change character cases,nothing happens. I started the debugger and found that my case changing code does work, but the listbox doesn't seem to update it's contents.I tried listbox.Update() and listbox.Refresh() but that didn't work either.

Not sure what I am doing wrong here but I have 2 buttons and a rich text box. The issue is when I click the second button to add text to the rich text box and it over writes the current text that is already in the rich text box. How can I code this second button so that the text is added to the rich text box and not replacing the current text?

I have code that i wish to run every time an item is highlighted in a listbox, or that highlighted item changs to a different item in the same list.
Atm, i am using 'Handles lbDiscoveredDevices2.SelectedIndexChanged' where lbDiscoveredDevices2 is my listbox. I dont think this is right as if i click any blank area in the list...it runs the code, and trys to refer to highlighted items, that arnt highlighted = error.
I have a listbox List1 in Form2 and the items are populated to it from another form Form1. In form2 i have created a button named btnUP. When we click the btnUP then the highlighted selected item in the listbox moves one level up. this is working fine.
The problem is only the value is moving up but not the highlight.
i have also set the setselect property to true "List1.SetSelected(i - 1, True)" but no use ("List1.selectionmode = one" )

I am using vb.net to parse my own basic scripting language, sample below. I am a bit stuck trying to deal with the 2 separate types of nested brackets.
Assuming name = Sam
Assuming timeFormat = hh:mm:ss
Assuming time() is a function that takes a format string but
has a default value and returns a string.

I could in theory change the syntax of the script completely but I would rather not. It is designed like this to enable strings without quotes because it will be included in an XML file and quotes in that context were getting messy and very prone to errors and readability issues. If this fails I could redesign using something other than quotes to mark out strings but I would rather use this method.
Preferably, unless there is some other way I am not aware of, I would like to do this using regex. I am aware that the standard regex is not really capable of this but I believe this is possible using MatchEvaluators in vb.net and some form of recursion based replacing. However I have not been able to get my head around it for the last day or so, possibly because it is hugely difficult, possibly because I am ill, or possibly because I am plain thick. I do have the following regex for parts of it.
Detecting the parentheses: (w*?)((.*?))(?=[^(+)]*((|$))
Detecting the square brackets: [[(.*?)]](?=[^[+]]*([[|$))

this workes but if you test this, you will notice that if you edit the selected item and put it back in it's all the way down again and not at the position as it was.For example:
first item: apples
second item:flowers
third item: orange
so if you edit flowers to pears for example then, will appear below orange.i know i know that this is the issue:

So I have three listboxes, LB1 is an uploaded list, LB2 is a master list, and LB3 is generated from LB1 items that are NOT in LB2. I have a button that replaces the selected item from LB1 with the selected item from LB2.
Since LB3 is a subset of LB1, I want to be able to select the items from LB2 and LB3 and have it replace the item from LB1 but running into some trouble with finding the appropriate item without selecting it. Here's my button so far:

I have a reporting utility for my users to view, send (via email), export SSRS reports. I have set up date parameter boxes with calendar drop down and they are able to send via email a URL link that would either display the report via ReportViewer or send a link via email (listbox of email addresses) that would let them view the report in Excel or PDF. This is working just fine. Now I just added a button for adding new email addresses and a new windows form with a textbox for entering the email address and a command button for Save Email Address. I am able to save the email address just fine from the small pop-up window for entering the email addresses but after closing the window, the listbox of email addresses on the main form does not get refreshed with the new entry from the textox even though the SQL table EmailAdresses got updated.[code]...

I am working on DataEntry Forms in VB.NET There are two controls are having in a present window. One is Combobox and one is Textbox. Combobox values are Mobile, FAX, E-mail. By the mistake some one enter the values like , In the combobox-E-mail and in the Textbox-9987453434. Finally these are saved on the Database. But i want to Re Enter the values.
For this i was selected in the Combobox-Mobile and in the Textbox-9987453434. These are the right values i want to save on the database.
But here the problem is that Phone number column(Textbox) is Indexed. (Unique) or No Duplicates in the database. Now i want to update only one column which is coming from Combobox in the database.
I don't think this can be that hard but I just can't get my head on it. I have a connection to an Access DB, put three text boxes representing three columns in the DB. Using the DataNavigator everything works. But what I want is to be able to enter text in say textbox1 and have textbox2 and 3 update, like when using the navigator.
Add: I want this to function like when you enter a record number in the Navigator and hit Enter, bam, goes to that record and all the text boxes update. I want to enter a number in textbox1...

I have an application that receives data input from an automated set of devices. This data stream I have managed to capture & get it into a list box which I can sort based on the Device ID & the time that the response was received.There is a set time window for the devices to transmit their data into the application and during this each device is not limited to the number of responses it can send (ie :- Device 1 can send in 2 responses where Device 3 can send in 40 responses, etc).All of the responses are captured, listed & sorted within the listbox (this bit is working ).I now need to extract the last (ie:- latest) entry in the listbox for each Device ID & this is where I am stuck. I can retrieve the last item in the list but cant seem to extract the last item for each Device ID.The code that I am using for the Device response capture, etc is :-

I've been testing an application I'm working on in Windows 7, Vista and XP. If I'm using XP then I get a couple of solid black blocks after the items listed in the ListBox. They are absent when running the same application in Vista or 7. I have the enable application framework checkbox unchecked. I haven't tried changing that to see if it makes a difference.
View 7 RepliesI have a situation where I need to display a Modal Window from a vb.net module and feed the contents to that modal form from the module.I am showing the form , feeding data to it from a class module and trapping the events in it using a timer control from the module.It works fine with Show() method but it doesn't with ShowDialog().If I used ShowDialog() then I was not able to continue with the code followed by it and not able to update any contents in the modal form.

I get an error message to try new but I can't figure out what it means.
The user enters information into a textbox, and if it is present in the litsbox an error message will be displayed, if it is not already in the listbox then it will be added to it.
I save what the user enters as a variable and i am wondering if its possible to check the exact contents of a listbox?
So suppose there is a string: StringRamdom and you display it's contents in a listbox.
so listbox.Items. Add(StringRandom) but it should be displayed as A, B, C
