Oct 30, 2009Is the FTM available for .net users to use on our web solutions or sites?I have some large install files on my site that the regular download will quit in the middle.the ftm at least allows for interruptions.I tried the FTP route, but turns out most users out there have no idea what ftp is. I saw a library that eluded to IDownloadManager, but I wasn't sure if this was the same thing as the ftm.

Jun 15, 2010I have a huge .txt file which contains X & Y data seperated by serialization. Each serialization contains 1K x and y data points, the text file is about lines 1,340,000 long. Sometimes I need to go into the .txt file and find certain sets of data so I can plot and overlay them which gets tedious. I am going to write an application that I can just write the serialization into a text box on a form and and it will seach all of the txt files for the right data, put them into arrays, and then load them up into excel. My question is how would I search the .txt file for the correct serialization? Would I first read it into an array and then try and split it that way, or is there a way to just open the .txt file and search for the serialization without putting it into an array first?

Jun 5, 2011I have a huge amount of data in flat-file format that I would like to validate with Visual Basic 2010. Basically the data is a text file with 300 comma separated fields and 500,000 records.
Any tips, sample code or examples? Are any .NET classes specifically geared for data validation?
As I have different validation rules for each field (some fields are dates, some are currency, etc.) I would like to store the rules away from the code (e.g. in an SQL database table). Has anyone seen this done before?

I need to figure out how to determine if the data changed based on whether or not the date column updated. Currently I parse the file in and drop a couple columns and do a sql update to a database.

Mar 4, 2011My app is a fairly simple and im sure with the right knowledge this would take 2 minutes.. but sadly iv been at it for hours. So my scenario here is a huge network with 20+ file servers all with data spread out across them it can take hours to find the folder required.
Hence this app.. so it consist of a input box, progress bar and a button, using FileSystemObject I plan to interrogate a directory to see if a folder exists (folder specified by user input) however it need to check multiple directories, in my old app I used a list box which wrote to a text file allowing the user to add additional directories then using if statements proceeded through the servers.. however they have added that much that my IF's have ran out really because i know it should have been a loop

Oct 8, 2011I'm currently doing a project that includes access 2010 My question will be what driver can I use for an access 2010 *.accdb type file? For a *.mdb it works perfectly well with

But, when I changed the mbd to accdb:

I have got the control to work, however, when I upload a file to via the web interface, the control doesn't stream the whole file up to the server, but just creates a new file but with no content. Is there something that I can do to create the file.I didn't have access to the FileManagerHelper Class, but googled around and found on on the devexpress forum.Is there an updated version of this file?
Change Configuration Manager File
Jul 30, 2011I have a vb.net 2008 desktop application to make changes to it. Since the production database will be changing within a month, I know that i need to change the .net remoing.
1.I change the configuration manager file (app.config) in debug mode to point to the 'new' test database, however the changes are not pick up. The application is still pointing to the current database. Thus can you tell when what kind of files.I need to change so that this application picks up the 'test' data base?
2. After I have tested the changes that need to be made, I will need to deploy the changes. Thus i am assuming that I will need to do something different so I can put the application changes into production. Thus, can you tell what kind of extra dlls,exe, xml, and other files I will need to include in the deployment package? Is there anything else I need to do in the deployment package? This application uses .net remoting to have the database connect to the various proejct files in the entire solution file.

Sep 6, 2009I'm building a theme manager. Each theme contains and XML file to describe the theme and a couple of images. I load the themes with a custom control into a wrappanel. As a preview of the theme I use a custom control, that shows the first 3 images of the theme. I load the picture into the images as follows (codeblock 1). You can delete the theme by selecting it in the wrappanel and then press delete theme button. It will add the name of the theme to a list and will delete the theme when the app exists. But then the app will bring up an error message saying that the file is used by another process - which is the main window of the app that has been closed.
