1. Currently I am in Query.xls.
Application.Workbooks.Open ("C:AdiData.xls") 'Opening a file to query from
Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("K2:K" & rowCount).Formula = "=VLOOKUP(RC[-5],'[D:AdiData.xls]Sheet1'!C3:C5,3,0)" 'Performing vlookup in data file
I am unable to do this.
What's the fastest way to randomly generate numbers, either randomly or simulating random? I don't really need a true random number generator, it would be acceptable to simulate random. I tried other random simulation methods but none were faster than this. Here's the fastest way I have now:

I am building a business intelligence application for my organization. I have a form in which I would like to display existing excel spreadsheets. I have searched high and low for a control that would allow me to display a spreadsheet. Basically what I need is a viewer control that I can user to call the individual soreadsheets and display them in the form.I do not want to open excel outside of the application, but instead display the spreadsheet in the form as part of the application.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to build an app that can search column A in an excel document (with textbox control). In column B, I have info about the column A items. When a column A item is searched, I would like a textbox (or similar) to display info about it from column B.
View 6 Repliesim trying to design a program where a user inserts text into some text boxes, and selects an item from a dropdown box, and clicks add, i want it so when they click add, it puts the data from the text boxes into an excel worksheet, so say, textbox 1 is product, put product in A1, the second would be cost so put the cost in B1, but the product type in C1(this is the drop down box) and then clear the visual basic form, so the user can enter a second set, and then when they click add, it adds the information into A2, etc, etc.
View 2 RepliesIn visual basic code works as below MyWorksheet.Range("A1:D1").Formula = "A1B2"
In excel it shows in
A1 as A1B2
B1 as A1B2
C1 as A1B2
D1 as A1B2
what i want do
A1 as A1B2
B1 as A1B3
C1 as A2B4
D1 as A2B5
I have to write an application in Visual Basic.Net that will open an excel file, run through the contents an export a test file for processing.
The application works great for me (Windows 7) but when transferred to a WinXP PC gives the following error: HResult 0X800A03EC
I can replicate this error by making the Excel Application visible so it seems like it is an issue where it can't access the file because it is open. Error occurrs when trying open the workbook.
Original Code
Dim excel As Excel.Application
Dim wb As Excel.Workbook

Im trying to add an export import method in visual basic. Export from Access database to Excel Worksheet or .csv. And Import From Excel worksheet or .csv to Access database

View 1 RepliesI have a bunch of Excel workbooks that contain multiple worksheets. I want to loop through each workbook and export each worksheet into it's own new workbook. I want one worksheet in each new workbook.
Here's what I've got so far:
Sub ExportWorksheet(ByVal worksheet As Excel.Worksheet, ByVal filePath As String)
Dim xlApp As Excel.Application = New Excel.ApplicationClass
Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook = xlApp.Workbooks.Add
worksheet.Select()
worksheet.Copy()

Trying to get names of all visible open excel workbooks. I found code online, that is below.I suspect the code is not working for me because either: I didn't include a reference (in addition to the MS Excel 12.0 Object reference and in addition to the Microsoft Office Interop reference, both were made) or something else basic being missed. i have been using the "early-bound" code below that is recognizing oExcelApp as visible...however, the open excel workbooks that I have open, are not being recognized.
I am using Windows XP and VB in Visual Studio 2010.Here is what I found online; disregard the late-bound if doesn't apply:

is there something wrong with this one?
SaveFileDialog1.Filter = " Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) | *.xlsx |(*.*) | *.*"
cause i can't filter all the excel workbooks and no files come out, but when i use this..
SaveFileDialog2.Filter = "Text (*.txt) |*.txt|(*.*) |*.*"
all the text files are being filtered..
I'm using VB Express 2008 and I would like to open an excel file and save it with different name file. For example, I would like to open a file in
C: est.xls
And then I want to save them with different file name such as
C: ry.xls
I have created an excel 2003 file using visual basic 2010 express edition with access as backend. The excel is created using a select into query. I would need help to protect this excel file once it generated using visual basic 2010 so that the users cannot edit the same.

After making WorkSheetObj I dont know what to do.. I am trying to dynamically change the Texts of Four buttons. The text values are to be to read off of Excel cells.
When working with Excel in this context, is there a way to get the Excel Application/Workbooks/Sheets events?
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
If Process.GetProcessesByName("Excel").Count <> 0 Then

Our small business uses a VB project to 'process' information in excel workbooks. The project works on all machines except one (a new one) which generates a "Runtime Error 9". All machines are using Office 2003. When I try to debug it takes me to the following code, Workbooks(Tempname).Close SaveChanges:=False
View 3 RepliesThe idea is that I have certain values stored in textboxes/listboxes and thus can I store the information in a spread sheet. And if I change the value in the spreadsheet can it also change the value in the application? I had one idea which was to make both store data in a txt file and read from that, but I'm not quite sure how to do that either.

View 9 RepliesDoes anybody know which version of Visual Studio 2010 contains the full set of Visual Basic SharePoint Templates? I am about to embark on a project to create Visual Web Parts to be used in a SharePoint report.
At the moment I am using Visual Studio 2008 and even though the WSPBuilder is installed none of the relevant SharePoint templates are present.Having searched SO and the web, most advise to install the templates via the Visual Studio command prompt: devenv /installvstemplates
Alas the Visual Studio command prompt is also missing from my VS2008 installation.So, the question remains: which version of VS2010 contains what I need for pain-free SharePoint development? There is a rather large price different between VS2010 Professional and VS2010 Premium, so can anyone tell me if the cheaper version (VS2010 Professional) contains all the Sharepoint templates?
