I am trying to build an app that can search column A in an excel document (with textbox control). In column B, I have info about the column A items. When a column A item is searched, I would like a textbox (or similar) to display info about it from column B.
im trying to design a program where a user inserts text into some text boxes, and selects an item from a dropdown box, and clicks add, i want it so when they click add, it puts the data from the text boxes into an excel worksheet, so say, textbox 1 is product, put product in A1, the second would be cost so put the cost in B1, but the product type in C1(this is the drop down box) and then clear the visual basic form, so the user can enter a second set, and then when they click add, it adds the information into A2, etc, etc.
Me Again, Can anyone tell me how to go about using Visual Basic 2010, on getting file information off of My CD'S/DVD'S as I have Many of them with No titles written on them.basically i would like to insert a CD or DVD into my computer and when i click a Button, A textBox will have all the files from the CD or DVD. and then i could print the list and keep a record of my CD/DVD.
For the application I am making, I want a unique identifier (a weak one is fine, just something that would hopefully tell two computers apart). I would like to be able to read a column of numbers from an Access database into a VB.NET program and then manipulate that data.For example I have a column of numbers and want to add them up and then take the averageThe maths is not a problem but how do I read the column of data into the program. Now I want that presented in the listbox with the semicolon and it should be aligned per column so that the numbers, the names, the prices and the quantity are exactly aligned per column.If I read the file like this:

Then the semicolon is not presented in the listbox and I don't have any alignment per column. As the names of the woods are not equally long the prices and the quantity are not aligned directly below each other...
My questions are:
1) How to add the semicolon in the listbox as seperator of the columns
2) How to align the 4 columns in the listbox (as I have an array Item(3) )
Later on I need to be able to change the quantity (last column) from 0 to > 0 (that's why I have to use an array)
when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.
I am building a business intelligence application for my organization. I have a form in which I would like to display existing excel spreadsheets. I have searched high and low for a control that would allow me to display a spreadsheet. Basically what I need is a viewer control that I can user to call the individual soreadsheets and display them in the form.I do not want to open excel outside of the application, but instead display the spreadsheet in the form as part of the application.
I have written a program that will export data from access data to Excel by using XML programmatically, But I seem to be having problem when I tried to open in excel.
I have to write an application in Visual Basic.Net that will open an excel file, run through the contents an export a test file for processing.
The application works great for me (Windows 7) but when transferred to a WinXP PC gives the following error: HResult 0X800A03EC
I can replicate this error by making the Excel Application visible so it seems like it is an issue where it can't access the file because it is open. Error occurrs when trying open the workbook.

After making WorkSheetObj I dont know what to do.. I am trying to dynamically change the Texts of Four buttons. The text values are to be to read off of Excel cells.
The idea is that I have certain values stored in textboxes/listboxes and thus can I store the information in a spread sheet. The name will be displayed in the label depending on the year and number typed in two text boxes. So if typed 2009 and 1001, the label should display name2. I don't have any background on SQL. The only thing I did for now is that I added the database in the data sources and added a TableAdapter.
