Use The MakeTransparent-Method But Without Success?

i currently have a form and 2 picture boxes on it. One of them (pic_Background) is showing a landscape and it is meant to be the background. the second picturebox (pic_Man) is a self-edited PNG image that contains a 'human'. The human itself is the only non-transparent part in the picture. everything around this human is made transparent using photoshop. i verified that by opening that png file in mspaint and irfanview and checked if the surrounding of the human is transparent and, indeed, it is. so i included this pic into my pic_Man but all i get is this:[URL] it is the default gray backcolor of the picturebox around my human. i tried almost everything but i couldnt get it. how do i make it completely transparent, so that the backgorund is visible around my human and not that gray color. of course i switched the backcolor property to transparent but it didnt help.i also tried to use the MakeTransparent-Method but without success.

I'm coming from VB VS 6.0, so a bit behind the times, I tried VB.NET and hated it. Now I'm back and using VB VS 2010 Express Edition, not bad a little closer to 6.0 that I can recall with some of the .NET I didn't care for.
I can't see to find out how to make my splash form close without killing the whole program, I've looked it up on google and done all the different code variations that I've found and nothing seems to work.[code]...

i'm using VB 2010 and i'm trying to make a transparent images but without success.i draw 2 GIF pictures in Photoshop and save it as transparent.i put that GIF's in 2 pictureboxes on the form and the background of the pictures is really transparent, but when i try to put one picture in the top of the other one, the first picture cover the second one with the background color (and becuase it's transparent it's like the form color)

I searched around and could not find a solution so I am sorry if I started something that has already been covered. Want I want to do is run a command line code and simply return a boolean of if it was successful or not. Is this possible? Typically when you run something (example net user User Pass) it will return a value "The command Completed Successfully." If I return this value I will have it from there.

I am doing a simple backup of sql server database through VB.NET form. It gets executed well but I want to display details of successful query execution in a label (i.e. time taken, database size etc.)
The message which I want to display in label is like "Processed 296 pages for database 'aaa', file 'aaa' on file 1. Processed 1 pages for database 'aaa', file 'aaa_log' on file 1. BACKUP DATABASE successfully processed 297 pages in 0.522 seconds (4.660 MB/sec)."
This result we get in sql server query window when we execute backup query there. I want to get this message in label when I fire backup query from Windows form in VB.NET

I have a large problem with inheritance in vb.net. The problem is the following:
I have 2 forms => frmBase and frmChild
In frmBase i want to create a method Called StartWorking() and i want frmChild to inherit this method.
But here is the tricky thing: when frmChild.StartWorking is called i would like the following => without calling MyBase.StartWorking()
I want frmBase.StartWorking() to be executed first and after a test in frmBase.StartWorking if blnValue is true then frmChild.StartWorking has to be activated. if blnValue is false that frmChild.StartWorking cannot be activated.

I have nine pictures that I need to animate -I need to use the ToString method and a counter to concatenate a file name into a string variable from the Image.FromFile method. Once the counter reaches its maximum value, and the last picture is displayed, the counter should be reset to zero or one depending on how the first image file has been name. Also a static counter variable should be incremented in the time routine. what I have so far -- I know what I have to do; however, I just do not know how to code this properly.. Right now I have this going thru a button procedure but it needs to go through a timer.

When I am loading an Assembly dynamically, then calling a method from it, I appear to be getting the method from Assembly executing before the code in the method that is calling it.It does not appear to be executing in a Serial manner as I would expect. Can anyone shine some light on why this might be happening. Below is some code to illustrate what I am seeing, the code from the some.dll assembly calls a method named PerformLookup. For testing I put a similar MessageBox type output with "PerformLookup Time: " as the text. What I end up seeing is:
First: "PerformLookup Time: 40:842"
Second: "initIndex Time: 45:873"

Why does my the declaration of my string in the code result in the following error? Is there a workaround?

Note: The following page did not fix my issue and instead resulted in the string </script> being output in my page. ( VB.NET hates </script> tag in string literal )

I'm trying to code an application that selects an appropriate delivery method from a list box. The user should be able to enter a part number consisting of numbers and either one or two letters.
