Asp.net - Using Javascript On An Aspx Page That Uses A Master Page - Which Contains The Page In A Form?

Aug 7, 2009

I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.

Javascript - Close Child Aspx Page If Gridview Index Is Changed On Parent Page?

Nov 17, 2011

I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.

I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.

Login Landing Page That Subsequently Passes Username/pw To Other Login Pages?

Dec 28, 2011

It is simply a "Y" in the road. If they are Company A, then I want to send the username and password over to that website and log them in as if they typed it in there. If they are Company B, then the same thing but with a different website. I do not know the term for this, so the google results are not very pretty.I can not do this with a query string (not that I'd want to anyway) as I do not want the username/pw to be visible. Here is the other weird thing. This can be done via a simple HTML <FORM> and Submit button as I have tested it. But I want to do it all in VB.NET code. How is it that it is possible with some simple HTML but not possible in VB.NET? I guess it could be a security thing, right? What do the good guys like us do when we legitimately just want our employees to go to one login page, enter their username/pw, and then (based on their username) send them to either pageA.aspx or PageB.aspx which receives their username/pw that they only entered once before on the first page?

Asp.net - Login.aspx And Catching The AD Error Authentication Response Value?

Dec 11, 2009

I have used the code from the link below to create a basic login page in front of the Microsoft Live Single Sing On.[url] I managed to combine the two together(LiveSSO w/Forms Authentication) turning off the Integrated Authentication in IIS from the SSO setup. All works as expected if the user successfully authenticates with AD. THE PROBLEM that I am having is that when the user failes to authenticate it only returns: "Error authenticating user. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". This message appears also when the user is set to change the password at next logon. What I want it to do is to read the error code of exactly why it failed so I can setup a redirect to a password reset page (i.e. if error is "User flag is set to change pswd" etc.etc.)From the page linked above you can see the VB code of LdapAuthentication.vb which does the trick of authenticating the accounts or returning the error message if the login fails. The part that returns the "Error authenticating user. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Is handled by this subroutine:

[code]...

That's what I have been trying to customize to see how it can return a specific code based on the user account AD flags, instead of the generic message

Reading JQuery File Over HTTPS Causing Access Denied

Nov 17, 2010

We have a site that is public facing, let's say it's [URL]. When the SSL is implemented, [URL], I can no longer access the jQuery 1.4.3 file on my own server. Furthermore, after a tweak to the security setting, I was able to get past the 'Access is Denied' error, but the first call was null. I understand there is a problem with different protocols actually being within the scope of the cross-domain problem? Is that true? And if so, will this now require JSONP?
