I am new to .NET and I have created a login page, with a user Id and password. In my webconfig, I put the following code in to deny users who are not authenticated.
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms loginUrl="Login.aspx" timeout="10" protection="All" />
</authentication>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"></deny>
</authorization>
What I am trying to accomplish is that when a user enters the correct information, I would like to store information small information about the user in a cookie, say for example if there an admin, manager, user, etc...Here is the code that occurs when the user click the submit button. The problem is that the page doesn't redirect to the page after user enter correct information.
If txtPassword.Text.ToLower = "test" Then
'Create a cookie
Dim cookie As New HttpCookie("UserInfo")
'Cookie variables
cookie("User") = txtUser.Text
[Code] .....
I have a site where users must only be able to access the Login.aspx page via SSL/HTTPS.Currently I run something like the following in my Page_Load():
If Not (IsSSL) Then Response.Redirect("https://" + thisDomainName + "/Login.aspx") End If
I have a very generic login form created that allows a user to access a application. My problem is getting the log in form to close after the application form is loaded. I have described the specifics in the comments of the code. [code]
I made an app that will dump the tasklist because rogue likes to force kill executables, is it possible to deny the rogueware's force kill when I try to open a program I made or Deny access to the program the is trying to end it, to clean the infection? I have also read from a few articles and it suggested to create a service that runs under svchosts.exe. I also read about hiding the process in task manager but I doubt that would work, is it possible to deny the rogue software from accessing the close event handler within a VB.NET application.
The reason I am working on this is we get a lot of customers in our PC shop with a lot of rogue software attacks and desktop hijacks. Since I know that the rogue software closes cmd.exe; msconfig; and notepad.exe I made a small somewhat worthless app that dumps the tasklist into a txt file on the desktop then of course knowing notepad wont open I know I can open it with a trusted application that the rogue looks forward to.."Internet explorer".
I get the file name and its path from the text file and Click Start > Run... > Taskkill /F /IM <roguename.exe> and of course the rogue software will BAM! disappear and be killed, but see I am trying to accomplish this in Normal mode and not Safe mode to Deny the rogue of closing my application. It also speeds up the removal process dramatically
On my current project I want to deny going back once my customers hit submit button and redirected to the final page. How can I deny from going back to previous page or some mechanism to expire the page if the back button is clicked. I tried this code and it didn't work.
I had a problem with WebBrowser component. Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. The is the current problem!I check with Google, it works. But, it doesn't work with Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site! Why?
It is simply a "Y" in the road. If they are Company A, then I want to send the username and password over to that website and log them in as if they typed it in there. If they are Company B, then the same thing but with a different website. I do not know the term for this, so the google results are not very pretty.I can not do this with a query string (not that I'd want to anyway) as I do not want the username/pw to be visible.Here is the other weird thing. This can be done via a simple HTML <FORM> and Submit button as I have tested it. But I want to do it all in VB.NET code. How is it that it is possible with some simple HTML but not possible in VB.NET? I guess it could be a security thing, right? What do the good guys like us do when we legitimately just want our employees to go to one login page, enter their username/pw, and then (based on their username) send them to either pageA.aspx or PageB.aspx which receives their username/pw that they only entered once before on the first page?
So i've been working on a page for a project where the person logs into a login page and then can see a list from the database of employees. everything is working except for one problem. If someone puts in a username and password, username= a and password=b, for example it still allows that individual to view the next page and doesn't throw the error that i have enbedded on the login page to say sorry you have the incorrect password/username. The working code that i have so far is below:
I'm a beginner when it comes to VB. th this. I have a Windows Application that I'm making for a friend. It's written in VB and connects to a SQL Server database. My problem is that when a user enters their username and password, then clicks on the OK button (all in a Login form that Visual Studio has a template for), the connection string is verified and connects, but for some reason
This will be my first post on this site, so I thought I would make it a doozy. I have an web application on our site at work that allows users to login to the system, and submit filings for dockets that our state agency governs. Without getting to involve with what that means, they basically upload mostly .pdf files, but there are others that are acceptable to upload as well. The current system that is being used, uses a simple FileUpload and saving it to a folder on the d: drive of the webserver. I ran into a problem that with anyone outside the building/network, the upload is extremely slow and seems to be limited files no larger than about 1.4MB. There have been a few cases where larger file have made it through, but those ar few and far between. I've tried a couple different 3rd party components, but seem to run into the same limits. So, I install the FTP server on the box with the IIS and am trying to go the FTP route using ftpwebrequest.
Below is what I have put together so far:
Imports System.Net Imports System.IO
Partial Class _Default
[CODE]...
This seems to work as it is at the moment, but I know it has a long way to go for catch exeptions, speeding it up...
1.) The first problem I have run into is if you try to upload to large a file, you get Out of memory error. I'm needing to change the buffer so that it is buffering chunks instead of the entire file. I've googled over and over again and seem to find several good options in C#, but can't seem to convert them to VB. So, could some one give me some idea how to take what I have and change the buffering to use smaller chunks.
2.) I need to catch an empty UploadFile field.
3.) I will eventually be changing this so that it handle multiple file uploads like my current system uses. (Did I mention that I'm new to the ASP.NET and have been programming in .ASP)
4.) As you will notice from my list of acceptable file types, I might have a problem with some needing to be upload as Binary and some not. So I'm going to have to come up with a way to test and change the Requested.UseBinary = False as needed.
I'm sure that I'll find other items as I progress or the big bosses will find other things that they want to add, but for now.... I know that given enough time, I will get all of these items worked out.
By the way, we have a network adminstrator that leave a lot to be desired and most IIS and now FTP I'm having to learn, implement and configure. I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing these limits in file size. Since I've tried 4 completely different forms of uploads and they all seem to run into the same limits, I thought there might be something in a router, firewall, server configuration.... that I might need to look into as well.
I am trying to create a secure login form which can avoid double users log in with same user id from different locations. how can I create a secure login form. I have create a basic login form as below.
Dim conn As SqlConnection conn = New SqlConnection(Source) Try
I am making a login form for my A2 computing work and have got that to work but i did do some of the work and now i want to know how i can add extra users and passwords using simply textbox on another windows form [Code]
Scenario: We have a website that is viewed both internally and externally. When an error occurs the users are displayed with a detailed error page(Stack trace etc). Problem: The external customers do not need that much information about the error. We are looking to have the external customers see a message instead. Ex. Please contact Administrator. Also if possible we would like to log this message in our SQL database.
Note: I'm assuming I make a custom error page like - Implementing a Custom Error page on an ASP.Net website. but how do I determine whether or not the user is internal/external? Also is this the best way to approach the problem?
I have an asp.net web forms application that uses asp.net membership and URL Routing.Because of the way Roles work, i cant put an "AND" or "OR", etc. in the allow/deny tags of the web.config file that resides in each folder.This is a business website that that is being ported from a vb.net win forms project that contianed many apps. (The win forms project have a custom authentication system.)The web app is structured in a way to mimic the desktop suites and a folder was created for each app.There are also common folders where any user of any app can generate a report.
I was wondering if it would be possible for me to add a login page to a program that I have made that connects to an online database that my website has (mysql) that stores user names and passwords for the members of my website, so that members of my site could login with their username and passwords to my program, if so, how would I go about doing this?
I am a newbie in using asp.net with code behind of vb.net I just wanna know on how to see the name of the admin on the POS page. it seems that this code doesn't work?
I created a website in VWDE 2010, and I was trying to code the login page that gets automatically created with a new web site in vb. owever, the vb file doesnt recognize some of the items on the aspx page, for instance: the username textbox is called "username". in the vb file, when I wrote username.text etc etc, and then I debugged it, it gave me error " 'username' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level. Why is it doing that? It's under a Protected Sub, but why should tht interfere?
im trying to to fill the value for the login page of site here the html code
