i am using an input box. the input should be an integer. if the input contains a "." then i want to display an error. if number is integer then do some code. i am trying to use somthing like this strInput = nputbox.... View 4 RepliesI need to get strresult to give me a clean string with no punctuation from strinput. I wanted to store that in strresult. My main goal was to write a loop to check the textbox input - strinput for letters a-z and store them in strresult and compare the reverse of that to strinput. I can do codes like mom, and things like that and it reads them, but when i add characters like mom! and red rum, sir, is murder...I am not stripping the punctuation off correctly.

I have several sets of similar objects (labels, progress bars) on a form in Visual Basic 2010 on Windows. In my code, I have collections that contain data, which needs to be pushed into the value/text property of each.
I would like to get a solution similar to PHP in that I can assign values somewhat like:
For ID as Integer from 0 to count(collectionExample)
lblExample{ID}.Text=collectionExample(variableID)
...and as such to loop through so each of the different lblExample's were updated to their corresponding value.
The issue I have come to is that I cannot seem to reference an object on the form using a variable. I have also tried using something like
CallByName("lblExample" + variableID, "Text", CallType.Set, exampleCollection(variableID))... however I still can't combine the string and variable to reference the object.
Any solutions on referring to objects in VB2010 by combining a string prefix and a variable string identifier, similar to PHP's $variable{$variable} approach?

I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.

when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.

I am now asked to create a .net application and I'm trying to create a "Hello World" starter app. I opened my Visual Studio, click File-New Project and all I see is Business Intelligence Projects and Other Project Types. My step-by-step guide says choose Visual Basic, Windows Forms Application. But I can't see it as an option.
