Vb 2008 Express - My.resources Won't Work - Error Saying The File Does Not Exist
Jun 19, 2011
I have been able to use my.resources perfectly, no problems at all. all of a sudden, i try to use resource (i have done EVERYTHING EXACTLY the same as the way i have been using for the last 1 and a half years) and i get an error saying the file does not exist. its there, i only need to type my.resources.s and it already selected the resource i want. it says the file doesn't exist. why? also, the resource is called settings.dat. could that be the problem, don't think it is. i even tried a picture, but it still says the file doesn't exist.
It says: Could not find file 'C:Users[username removed]DocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsdiskSaverdiskSaverinDebugSystem.Byte[]'.
I worked out a way around it (i worked out how to use my.settings in stead), but i haven't worked out why my.resources won't work.
It was there in VB 6. I have some images that I'm going to use a buttons, and I did this in VB 6 with the image control. however, this control doesn't appear to exist in VB.NET 2008 Express. I guess I could use a picture box, but isn't that overkill for such a simple task?
In a windows forms application I am attempting to read a file from a share into a filestream.I then start impersonating and write the stream to another share that only my impersonation account has access to.This works fine for small files. But if I attempt this on a 90 meg file I recieve a "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service" error on the following line:
I have Requests for VB(2005) very very important for my selly project!i need a button that determine if file exist and if that file exist then show a messagebox!and if not show messagebox!.
Actually this application will run on window start up. what i try to do is to delete the file for certain date. I ask the program to delete file if set date equal to now system date... i also ask the program to check if the file is exist or not. If the file is exists. the program run properly but if the file not exists then on windows start up. .NET framework unhandle problem come out [Code]
im trying to generate an error message to the user to let them know a file doesnt exist. So far ive got the user to enter the file name into a textbox, they click search and if successful will load a new form with a PDF file reader built in( AxAcroPDF1 )everytime i enter the right file name i get the file loaded, if enter the wrong name the File page still loads with no pdf and no message saying file doesnt exist.

It says I must use only SQL or Access. That is SQLExpress doesn't work. The test connection does work. Trying to do a quick demo project before I spend big bucks. I cannot get my Access 2003 to register so only have 34 uses left.
I create a new Windows Forms application and add an AboutBox form which is built-in into Visual Studio. I add a button to Form1 to show the AboutBox when clicked. The AboutBox form has a label with the text "Version" on it. The following code is supposed to add the application's version to that label at run-time:
Me.LabelVersion.Text = String.Format("Version {0}", My.Application.Info.Version.ToString)When the application version is changed in the Publish tab of the My Project form to 2-0-3-6, the version on the AboutBox at run-time stays at 1.0.0.0 (of course after rebuilding).
Even when the application is published to the desktop, it still does not work. It does, however, reflect the correct version number in the title of a subfolder in the Applications folder that is created when the application is published.
I have a copy Oracle 11g which is now fully installed. Will it work with Visual Basic Express 2008 or just Visual Studio 2008 Professional? I have both Visual Basic Express 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I really would like to know if it works with Visual Basic Express 2008.
the story goes something like this:i have embedded resource file, a vbs script.i have an error when i use writeallbytes and it says dimensional error cannot be converted to bytes something like that so i decided to make a module instead of writeallbytes, what my program does is it writes the content of the script to textbox and after that this data will be written in a script and will be save on drive C: as .vbs.that is perfectly working on my codes
I have a Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition application that operates as a front end for iSeries V6r1. The application was developed on a windows 7 machine. Users load the application from a shared folder on a server. Currently, there are 2 Vista, 3 windows 7 and 4 XP users. All had no problem in loading application, all users except 3 of 4 XP users can run the application with no problems. However, 3 of the XP users receive the following error message when they perform any action that tries to connect to the iSeries:
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
I'm a new vb.net user and am creating a page on a Windows 2003 Server. When I try to view the page with a browser I get the following error: Parser Error Message: The file '/Sandbox/fileinput.aspx.vb' does not exist. Here is the code for the page:
Do I have to sign my VB.NET applications? I'm getting an error: SignTool reported an error 'Keyset does not exist' But have no interest in signing anything as the project is small and will only be used internally to my department. I could create a temporary key. But why would I want to?
Im making a tic tac toe game in visual basic 2008 express edition. I used picture boxes for the squares. after a box is clicked depending on whose turn it is i use a PictureBox1.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile to call the picture whether it be an X or an O. Both the X and O files are on my desktop. The Games works fine, just as I want it.Now, I want to build the application and run it on other computers. but since the picture files are coded to read from my desktop it wont work on other computers. How do i put the pictures in my resources and read from that so it will work on all computers?
I have a program made in VB that on a button click extracts a exe file from its resources to the HDD then runs the program and deletes it after it closes. I first used the desktop to extract the file to, but seeing as I need to use this program on several computers the account names will be different so this is of no use. I've tried using C: but access is denied.
My.Computer.FileSystem.MoveFile(My.Resources.NameOfFileinResources Application.StartupPath)Error1Value of type '1-dimensional array of Byte' cannot be converted to 'String'.
I have the 'resources' folder in my project and it contains a text file called dictionary.txt, which i refer to in my code as My.Resources.dictionary.Split(New String() {Environment.NewLine}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)This works perfectly.
I then added a second text file called definition.txt, but when i refer to My.Resources.definition.Split(New String() {Environment.NewLine}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)This gives me an error 'Definition is not a a member of 'Resources'
im trying to write a .reg file out that is written into the exe's my.resources dynamically at compile time from a diffrent app... but the .reg file gets messed up and alot of extra txt gets added ...
I'm not able to use edit and continue feature while debugging my project. I'm using VB 2008 Express Edition on a 32bit winXP version.
I already check on MSDN and found that this feature can be enable in dialog Tools/Options/Debugging.... However, I do not have a Debugging entry in the treeview in this option dialog. I also used to reset the Import/Export setting features in the tool menue. However this did not solve the problem as well. Then I tried to import some settings and I was able to select the option for debugging. However in the tools/option menu, the debugging feature is still not visible. Edit and Continue is not working as well
Its really a pain to debug with the current setup, as I always have to restart my application when I did some minor changes.
MS has done it to me again. VB express was working fine and all of a sudden I cannot see any properties or publish my program. I get the following error message when trying to view any property or publish. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or what causes it. If I try to reinstall vb express I loose everything and cannot find the vb exe file anywhere on my computer.
An error occurred trying to load the page. The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)
I use vb 2008 express edetion but i find error in it and no answer yet .when i choose the choice : Dont save any changes from the tools menu and then project and solution then run and debug then choose that choice then when create a new project by a new form1.vb with a new buttum then presss F5 or run the msg error appeare is : Form1.vb cannt be modified at this time ?
I'm trying to copy a file from my.resources to a user directory thus:- HTML My.Resources.MyFile.Copy("C: empabc.xml") I've also tried:- HTML File.Copy(My.Resources.MyFile, "C: empabc.xml") Neither work.
when i try to create a new project in visual, appears (the language is spanish)"no se puede abrir 'the path of the file .vbproj' su tipo de proyecto (.vbproj) no es compatible con esta version de la aplicacion. Para abrirlo use una nueva version de la aplicacion"
this proyects was build in the same visual basic 2008 express edition.
Design view shows an error message with projects that I open and with new projects. I can create or edit a project using code and properties. I just can't see anything but the error message in design. I can double click a label or text box and it will be added to the form, and I can edit it, just not see the form in design view.
