Dec 23, 2009I have the following query that groups parking spaces by their garage, but I can't figure out how to iterate the data in the view.

The controller is taking the query object as is and putting it into the viewdata.model and as stated the view is not currently strongly typed as I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. I have run the query successfully in linqpad.

Mar 23, 2009I am trying to develop a recipe manager that allows a user to create a shopping list. I've already determined that I want to use a list view for this job. I want to be able to group the items in the shopping list by the appropriate grocery aisle (i.e. Dairy, Bread, Canned Goods, etc.) I'm not sure how to assign the items to the appropriate group as the user selects each item.
I haven't started actually building the application yet as i'm still in the development stage, but i have been testing the list view out to figure out how it works. i've figured out how to add items. i just don't know how to specify the group that each item should belong to.

Sep 22, 2011AudioVideoPlayback works really .FromFile with jpg or mpg files. But I am trying to show a viewo stream from a video camera over the network. The camera feed is something like ... IP-ADDRESS/mjpg/video.cgi. AudioVideoPlayback .FromUrl seems to access the camera ( the camera then prompts for log on credentials) but it will not display the feed. My question is can AudioVideoPlayback display cgi files? My all is written in Visual Basic 2008, running on Win 7/64 and x86 based platforms as well.

May 5, 2012I'm curious if it is possible to hide a group of text boxes from view in a form until a particular condition is met, and to have a custom set of text boxes for that condition. To give an example; I want radio buttons offering choices for a manner of searching records, the user selects one and then a specific set of text boxes are displayed for the user to utilize, if a different option is chosen a different set of text boxes will be shown. Nov 18, 2011I have a .NET 2.0 *.dll that calls My.Computer.Network.Ping(). The *.dll is then run out of an *.exe via AppDomain.CreateDomain() and Invoke(). The problem is that this works just fine under Windows XP but under Windows 7, I get an exception saying that no network connection is available. I tried the Ping() call out of a small console application under Windows 7 and it works just fine.

.net - Using A FileStream On A Network When The Network Drops?
Mar 26, 2012I am writing some code as part of a framework for opening a file.The file is of custom type and should not be opened by more than one instance of my application. To stop multiple file opening I use a filestream to create a lock file and then keep said filestream open. This seems to work in preventing another instance of my application from opening the file ( as it will fail in recreating the lock stream in the files open code ) but if the file is on a network share and the network drops then the original application also can not access the file any more.The code to get the lock stream is as follows:

In this I create the lock stream the first time round and then if another application tries to create it, it throws an exception and stops them from getting any further. This is kind of how it needs to work, unfortunately as I said, if this is done across a network and then the network connection is dropped for some reason then I can not delete the lock stream as I get an IOException telling me a process cannot access the file as it is open in another process ( which shouldn't be happening I don't think).

The student grid view has many columns like client_no, student_name, date_of_birth, address, etc. There are over 100000 students so I will need to filter the student grid view to find the correct student to enroll in the course. Once they are found, the user selects them and somehow moves them to the enrolled grid view. If a student drops out then they would be removed from the enrolled grid view.This process needs to be easy to understand and use.
