Get the view of another machine on the network, or window of another application in my application (like I could see e.g.: Sage on a e.g.: browser in my application).This would be a great improvement for the users that use some applications on our server computer, at the moment we use remote windows connections but we don't want to allow the server as with full permission for some users.
View 5 RepliesI have created an application which uses an sql server connection as its datasource. The problem I'm having is that the application needs to work on computer that has no network connection. How Can i change the datasource so that on runtime it can work off a machine that is not connected to a network? The datasource from the sql connection only contains one table with no data. It only needs to be updated with a target folder that can be changed to any location on any computer already written in the code.
The connection string suddenly stands as: Dim MyConnectionString As String = "Data Source=MY-PC;Initial Catalog=ImageLocs;User Id=test;Password=test;Pooling=False"
Here is my idea so far: I have a bunch of computers connected in a local network. One of them is a MySQL server, one will have a vb.NET program wich will act as a "second server" and the rest will be different clients. What I want to do is that the "second server" will send out some kind of message or network package to some of the clients in the network, and they will execute a code based on what message it is, or what kind of package it is. From my vb.net code I am trying to set a printer name for the crystal reports printing
rpt.PrintOptions.PrinterName="johnKingHP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL"
But when I go to windows-->Start--> Run and enter JohnKing
It is showing me Printers and Faxes folder and Scheduled task folder. But when I open Printers and Faxes it will show the adderess as Printers and Faxes on JohnKing.
From my web application I want to sent the Printer name is the name shown above.

AudioVideoPlayback works really .FromFile with jpg or mpg files. But I am trying to show a viewo stream from a video camera over the network. The camera feed is something like ... IP-ADDRESS/mjpg/video.cgi. AudioVideoPlayback .FromUrl seems to access the camera ( the camera then prompts for log on credentials) but it will not display the feed. My question is can AudioVideoPlayback display cgi files? My all is written in Visual Basic 2008, running on Win 7/64 and x86 based platforms as well.

View 1 RepliesI have a .NET 2.0 *.dll that calls My.Computer.Network.Ping(). The *.dll is then run out of an *.exe via AppDomain.CreateDomain() and Invoke(). The problem is that this works just fine under Windows XP but under Windows 7, I get an exception saying that no network connection is available. I tried the Ping() call out of a small console application under Windows 7 and it works just fine.

How can I develope the program to be deployed on a machine that doesnt have Excel.. View 2 RepliesI have a program written in VB 2008 express. It connects to an Access database via Jet4.0 OLEDB. It works fine on my computer running windows xp. It works fine on computers running Vista and Windows 7 that also have Access installed. Howerver when run on a computer with Windows 7 that does not have Access installed. The following Error Message appears whenever there is an attempt to access the database:
The 'MS JET.OLEDB 4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Reviewing MS info, it appears that mdjet40.dll is found in XP and earlier and that syswow64.dll is found in Vista and later. Before I travel down the road of reckless experiementation, I thought I would ask for some advice.

I saw some posts that say the solution is to change the solution platform to x86 on the build menu, but I don't have the build menu available as I am using the express version of vb.net

Dont know how easy this would be, but basically I'm just wondering if there is any way in VB.net you can close open files on a remote PC.In my scenario the vb.net app would be running with domain admin permissions in most cases so would have access to things like the remote Computer Management console, which of course has the Open Files section in it which lets you close any open files on the remote machine its connected to.So I fugured there must be some way to do it in vb.net... I just dont know if its going to be more hassle than its worth and I dont really know where to start looking (ive used googled but not had much joy).
