Voice Prompt Attached To A Textbox On A Form?
Jul 1, 2011Is it possible to have a voice prompt attached to a textbox on a form so when you tab into the form the user hears "Customer name" or "Amount" or whatever?

Get Voice Prompt To Wait For Form Open?
Jul 1, 2011I have a form with voice prompts on it for entering data into the textboxes. I use the enter event of the textboxes for my prompts. When the form opens, the first textboxe's voice prompt is heard, like it should be, but it is heard before the form actually appears. How can I get the first prompt to wait until the form has fully loaded before it starts?

Mar 25, 2009I have a voice program that can compare voices to stored voice files and identify people based on that. It's not the most accurate thing, since being sick or other weird things can make it fail, but it does work for the most part. I was wondering if there was a way to keep the voice recognition running during an unlock and wait for the person who locked it to come back. Upon giving the command and voice verification, if it passes, the computer is unlocked by my program. Is there anyway to do this in VB.NET?Summary: Can a program unlock a computer after it's locked?

Sep 26, 2011In my winforms project, some of the forms have a set of ContextMenuStrips defined on them (through the visual studio designer).Some of these contextmenustrips have been attached to controls, but others have not.Now my problem is this: I need to go through all of the ContextMenuStrips at runtime, whether they are attached or not.I've got some code that will recursively go through all controls and check the ContextMenuStrip property and this works fine.... However I can not get to the ContextMenuStrips that haven't been assigned to a control yet.

Jul 11, 2011I'm using speech synthesis to voice a prompt upon entering a textbox. Problem is the prompt is heard before the cursor enters the textbox and the user doesn't like this. How can I get the prompt to wait until the textbox has been entered?
I asked a similar question before but that was only about the first textbox on the form and now I realize the problems exists on all the textboxes.

Dec 23, 2011I already know how to call insert, update, delete & select procedures in DataSet.xsd window. And I also know how to call queries by table adapters. But I just found out that its not possible to call all functions by queries (such as insert). It works when I test the query but when I try to add it, it says "Failed to get schema for this query". So I built a few stored procedures which do many functions (such as transaction, insert, update etc...). But I am unable to use these stored procedures in VB form. I found some tutorials mentioning that it can be done by defining connections and some other stuffs with which I don't want this to be. I want to call these procedures by writing code in VB code editor window with DataSets, TableAdapters, BindingSource etc...

Dec 27, 2010I would like to have a command prompt type interface on my form. The only thing I am aware of is a textbox, but there are no facilities to have commands and output scroll without keeping the entire history in a variable. That would be an ever increasing variable, which is ridiculous. Is there an alternate way to use a textbox as a command prompt, or is there something else I can do. Another note, is the use of an array. I know I can increase an array with commands, but this is no good either, because some responses in the box need to be paragraphs in length, so even a separate array for command and output is too cumbersome.

I basically need something exactly the same as the GUI for RunAs but just for Internet Explorer (yes I know you can right click and go RunAs but that cant be done in this case). So the user would open this VB form, type their username and password in, hit OK and it would open Internet Explorer with their credentials (they log in under a generic account used by many people).

Apr 28, 2009I m using vs2008 with vb and sqlserver. I just attached a .sdf database file to my project. There is a form to insert data in products table and a dgv to show that data. Everything is working fine, i inserted the data and dgv is also showing the data. But when i tried to see that data from server explorer, thr is no data, table is blank. Then again when i run my project thr is no data in DGV also. So problem is that when i entered the data and retrieve back the data in dgv,evrythng is fine,but when i tried to see my data from server explorer, data is lost. Why data is not comtted to my .sdf ?

Jun 18, 2009I have two objects - one that contains some code with will fire an event, and one that contains the handler for that event. I can't "AddHandler" in the Load of the first object,because an instance of the second object doesn't exist yet. When I raise my event, I want to check to see if a copy of object2 has been instantiated (easy to do), and if a handler has been attached to the event yet (not sure how to do this).I'm also open to another recommendation about how to do this instead. If I do my AddHandler in Object1.Load, and Object2 doesn't exist yet, then it will never handle my event, even if I create it later.Right now, in the code that fires the event, I've just resorted to doing a RemoveHandler and then an AddHandler every single time the event is raised, and then I know I'll attach when the object finally exists, but I know this is a crappy method.
