Creating Form That Allow To Get Info From Attached Database?

Feb 5, 2011

I'm really new to any form of VB programming and I am trying to create a form which will allow me to take information from an attached database holding information on:
class names (i.e. Year6 Dragons)
Students names (i.e. Sarah Jessica Parker)
I want the design to look very similar to the form used in MS Access for the query wizard, which will allow me to choose a class and then specific students.

Call Stored Procedures In Code Having Service-based Database Attached With A Form By Datasets?

Dec 23, 2011

I already know how to call insert, update, delete & select procedures in DataSet.xsd window. And I also know how to call queries by table adapters. But I just found out that its not possible to call all functions by queries (such as insert). It works when I test the query but when I try to add it, it says "Failed to get schema for this query". So I built a few stored procedures which do many functions (such as transaction, insert, update etc...). But I am unable to use these stored procedures in VB form. I found some tutorials mentioning that it can be done by defining connections and some other stuffs with which I don't want this to be. I want to call these procedures by writing code in VB code editor window with DataSets, TableAdapters, BindingSource etc...

Find All ContextMenuStrips Defined On A Windows Form (not Necessarily Attached At Runtime)

Sep 26, 2011

In my winforms project, some of the forms have a set of ContextMenuStrips defined on them (through the visual studio designer). Some of these contextmenustrips have been attached to controls, but others have not.Now my problem is this: I need to go through all of the ContextMenuStrips at runtime, whether they are attached or not.I've got some code that will recursively go through all controls and check the ContextMenuStrip property and this works fine.... However I can not get to the ContextMenuStrips that haven't been assigned to a control yet.

Visual Studio 2008 Creating A Check In Form For A Class Of Students With An Access Database?

Dec 4, 2009

Visual Basic Project - Student Check In Form using an Access database backend This form needs to draw information from an Access database containg tables for STUDENT, INSTRUCTOR, and SECTION. These all need to have primary keys and ids. When (the user) clicks on the drop down box that displays all the sections:

{Table Tennis 1, Table Tennis 2, Table Tennis 3, Billiards 1, Billiards 2, Billiards 3}This should populate the listbox or datagrid from the STUDENT table with the Students that have the same SECTIONID as the SECTION selected in the drop down menu above.

After the Student list has been populated (the user) clicks on a student name in the listbox/datagrid and this inserts that student into the CHECKEDIN table that has a datagrid/listbox associated with it.

This is a great project to practice connecting a database to Visual Studio 2008 .net and playing with the data that has been pulled in. You could use SQL instead of Access.

VS 2008 : Make Info From A Form Go To Another Form?

Dec 7, 2009

I'm trying to make a simple game, but i have a question.i have a minimum damage and maximum damage lbl boxes on 1 form and i have a button if clicked it opens a 2nd form with buttons that deal "damage" when clicked

1. Attack (a regular attack that would deal the damage from form 1)

2. another attack ( this deals damage from form1 + 8)

3. another attack ( deals 30% damage for 4 attacks [so 4 attacks that deals 30% damage each])

4. another attack ( this one is great. it deals damage of 2 times of minimum damage to maximum damage and a third label box lblAP (attack power) which each 2 points of attack power you have it adds 1 more damage.)

i can do that math i just have no clue how to bring the info from form 1 to form 2.
