I have a vb.net 2010 application and I would like to get the scanner info (modal name, port, etc.) attached with my PC. I use windows xp SP 3 in my machine and Cannon scanner is attached with my machine.
View 1 RepliesI'm really new to any form of VB programming and I am trying to create a form which will allow me to take information from an attached database holding information on:
class names (i.e. Year6 Dragons)
Students names (i.e. Sarah Jessica Parker)
I want the design to look very similar to the form used in MS Access for the query wizard, which will allow me to choose a class and then specific students.
I want to be able to scan an item and that information be sent to a data grid. I'm able to scan a bar code and have it populate a textbox just fine. My problem is getting it from the textbox to the data grid.
The way it works, the textbox has to have focus so it can accept the input for the item being scanned. I've placed it behind the data grid and it works well like that but I was curious if anyone else knew of a better way to do this.
I'm curious if there is a way to detect if something has been scanned and if so, send it to the textbox or whereever else it can go.
im making a port scanner and stuff so can you give me the coding for it with a progress bar ill do anything on the form i have a button and a progress bar

Currently the scanner is in a module (code below). I put it at that level because when I had it in a class and instantiated the class from the main form, no other forms except the main form would fire the DataReceived event. Well, unfortunately that's the case for the module-level as well.Here's the code for the Scanner:

i need to create an application where input are to be received by the barcode scanner.However, i am not suppose to use the textbox to do so. However i need to use the serial port to do so. Any one know how am i able to do that?
View 1 RepliesI am developing a Winforms application which read barcode from barcode scanner. It's an Human wedge scanner. This will work if I placed the cursor in any textbox or notepad. But i don't want like that. Reason is that it's cordless scanner. If some want to scan some thing in store they will move around, so there is possibility of screen saver coming or system gets locked if that happens the barcodes wont capture, but the user who is scanning the barcodes won't know this thing.
So i am reading the data using serial port communication and my scanner sending the data character by character, Not a whole string. so for that I wrote the following code. Thsi code will works if i am writing to any textbox. But it is not working if want to store it in any global string. Only first character is storing in the string. The below code is working perfectly fine. but if want to save the string in Global String variable instaed of textbox the only first character in the string is storing.

I am using Richard L. Grier's Enhanced Serial Port dll to read input from a serial port barcode scanner I notice that the datareceived event fires only once per barcode scan, but the delegate sub fires twice per barcode scan. Once for 1st half of Barcode , 2nd for 2nd part of barcode This makes it hard to capture the full barcode so it can be passed to routines in my vb.net 2008 windows application In Richard's example 'Test Enhanced Port' program he sends it to a textbox using .selectedtext and it works fine Richards Delegate code ......................

how to correlate info from a textbox based on a listbox item selection. For example the user will select an item from the listbox, enter say the length of a song in the textbox say 2:00 for song #1, select say song #2, enter the song time for that song say 3:00, click on song #1 again and have the same textbox display the length of that song and be able to do that until there are no more songs on the list.

View 4 RepliesI m using vs2008 with vb and sqlserver. I just attached a .sdf database file to my project. There is a form to insert data in products table and a dgv to show that data. Everything is working fine, i inserted the data and dgv is also showing the data. But when i tried to see that data from server explorer, thr is no data, table is blank. Then again when i run my project thr is no data in DGV also. So problem is that when i entered the data and retrieve back the data in dgv,evrythng is fine,but when i tried to see my data from server explorer, data is lost. Why data is not comtted to my .sdf ?
View 4 RepliesI have two objects - one that contains some code with will fire an event, and one that contains the handler for that event. I can't "AddHandler" in the Load of the first object,because an instance of the second object doesn't exist yet. When I raise my event, I want to check to see if a copy of object2 has been instantiated (easy to do), and if a handler has been attached to the event yet (not sure how to do this).I'm also open to another recommendation about how to do this instead. If I do my AddHandler in Object1.Load, and Object2 doesn't exist yet, then it will never handle my event, even if I create it later.Right now, in the code that fires the event, I've just resorted to doing a RemoveHandler and then an AddHandler every single time the event is raised, and then I know I'll attach when the object finally exists, but I know this is a crappy method.

How can I, download attached files from unread received mail , by VB code.

But now my customer wants to change his mobile so he wants me to change programming so that it works with any mobile.

is there a way to check how many delegates are attached to an event, let's saymybutton.Click has 10 handlers, 5 by using the Handles keyword and another 5 added by using the AddHandler method (well this is not the point, then point is that i do not know how many handlers there will be). and i would want to create another button that had all 10 handlers of mybutton.Click attached to its Click event as well.
