Asp.net - Make Update Panel Not Update Whole Page?
Oct 16, 2011I have an update panel that has a table in it with 4 images. Every few seconds a new image is shown. All this works but when the image changes the whole page is refreshed. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and VB.Net 3.5.I only want the images in the updatepanel to refresh. How can I do that?

Apr 26, 2010is it possible to make one application send a task to another application and recieve the result from that secondary app?i made a text editor program and i added a scan feature and i made another app that has ocr capabilities.The scanner ability is in my text editor program, the ocr program doesnt scan you have to input an image into it and it will give text result a few seconds later.the prob is alot of times the ocr code uses sooo much memory and crashes when its incorporated with my text editor, but individually each application works fine and doesnt take too much memory. Memory wont be even an issue if the ocr program is standalone so that when it is done decoding image the application can be made to exit. now here is the question, how do i make my text editor send the image to the ocr program and how do i make my ocr program send the text back to my text editor? is it possible? i mean the only way i know off is creating temp files in a certain folder and having a timer on each program that keeps waiting for temp files. That just seems like pretty lame coding to me i was wondering if there's a better way?

Apr 20, 2012I have always made a setup file with "instal creator" which have made a nice one file of my program and it have been easy to share. This time I need a chance to update my application. I read somewhere that having website is necessary or its much easier to do that way, is it true? I have worked before with ucoz/unet so I think I could use it.

Dec 14, 2009I am making a exe application and i am using mysql as my database. So the thing is, when i change to a new computer, i need to change the file path for the database connection string to that computer.
like below:

i need to change the data source = --------------- SQLEXPRESS to the computer name that i am using for my project.
May i ask is there any method such that the user dont have to go in to the source code to change the computer's name like those normal installer?
Just install and the application will run according like any exe file that we buy.

Sep 1, 2010My boss has just asked me to make an "Update Program Function" for our program.My program is being used by someone in my company. The database is put on server computer.At the present, my program run by some dll file, and when I fix or update the source code, i will compile to dll and put it on the server disk. After that, the users will go to this server disk and copy the new dll and overwrite the old dll in their client computer.
Now my boss asked me to make an "Update Program Function" : before the user login, the program will check the version (or the creation date) of the dll in the server disk, if it newer than the current dll, the program will update the new dll, else the program login normally How can i do that?

Sep 21, 2009I have written an application for a customer, and the application is run in various locations around the world. The company carefully controls the release of the software to the various buildings where it is being used, and because of this, I have made use of the "Check for updates" feature. The problem I am faced with, is that the folks using this software more often than not answers "NO" when prompted to download and install the latest version of the application. This is unacceptable and ultimately, we'll need to go in and have them manually install the software.
We don't publish updates to the software w/o meaning for them to be necessary, and I find it hard to believe that Microsoft doesn't recognize this sort of thing as being needed when they designed the update procedures. Alas, this seems to be the case.

May 8, 2009I would like to implement update to my applications but not in the automated fashion. I would like the user to check for update, through version control in my database, and if there is a newer version, it will automatically shutdown the user's application and run the update (copy and replace files in the users application folder). After the update, it would restart the application for use. I was thinking in creating a .msi for creating and replacing files, still don't know how to create it! My main concern is to be able to implement a proven and correct .Net method for Updating applications. A best practice for deploying and executing updates to my applications.

Mar 11, 2010im trying to update access from vb.net application. when excuting im getting this error: the microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0 source="c:...."provider was not registered on the local machine. when i go and run cmd to register ddl files. i was able to register msjet40.dll and msjetoledb40.dll with the other dll a box pops up: the module "c:..." was loaded but the entry point dllRegisterServer was not found?
